FPEdit: hopefully the front page will make this go even further. I am glad most agree.

Wow. I actually felt a little moved by that speech.

How the hell did America get to the point where a sportscaster sounds more like a president than the president.

8 years ago | Likes 110 Dislikes 7

I've had farts sound more presidential than Donald Trump at his most eloquent.

I divided the comment wrong and didn't notice.... My bad

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That was powerful.

He’ll yeah. The only person who gets to decide who is and isn’t a Patriot is Bill Belichick.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I preferred his because he called out everyone being a douche, not just trump.

8 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 1

Trump is an idiot. He can't help himself. The real douches are the people addressed in this statement

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

That was fucking beautiful. Powerful and concise.

"Our forefathers made freedom of speech the 1st amendment. They listed 10, and not 1 of them says you have to stand during the anthem."

Not to mention there was no anthem when the constitution was drafted. America is the Constitution and the people, not a flag and song

I don't get the reference

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

It’s ok not many people know about this.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Trump's draft deferment was a foot issue.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Trump got deferments partially based on having bone spurs in his foot.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Left or right, he was asked? He said, "Both!"

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"It's a dog whistle to the racist among us"

I'd bet on it.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Actually the first thing he'll say is that this guy has poor ratings.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Name:

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You can argue the specifics of what Kaepernick is protesting, but you can't argue his right to protest.

8 years ago | Likes 66 Dislikes 5

I can also argue that Kaepernick is a greedy, disrespectful asshole who doesn't deserve to be picked up by an NFL team.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

You could just listen to what K had to say about why he protests and stop arguing the "specifics". How bout you trust he knows why he prot?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

No one's arguing his right to protest though. Trump might want to, but he hasn't and can't.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

A lot of people are arguing against their right to protest. Nobody really important, mind you, but a lot have decided to boycott the NFL.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Who? Boycotting the NFL isn't arguing their right to protest. Violating their right to protest would require legal punishment.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I've seen a lot of posts on facebook. There isn't anything wrong with boycotting, it was the first thing that I remembered seeing.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

There have been talks of jailing them, taking their money away, drafting them, deporting them etc etc

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

A gov official telling a private company to fire it's employees for protesting him should scare the shit out of you.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Inappropriate yes, unconstitutional no. There's also a big difference between saying he hopes they get fired, and trying to force

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

The NFL to fire them. If he does the latter, THEN he will have violated the Constitution.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

"They should be fired" =/= "I hope they're fired" Why are you insanely charitable about the U.S. President condemning Americans protesting?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

That's not what I said. Why don't you reread my message and respond to that instead of a strawman.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm a vet and I could care less if you stand or not, but their reasoning behind why they're not is what's confusing to me.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I'd certainly vote for him for city council. No more Presidents without prior experience, please.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

If only. Dale is too good of a guy to run for pres though. People that inherently good don't tend to seek power.

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

And therein is the essence of the problem. Only those that want power get power.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Though at this point in time, "a huge improvement" is an embarrassingly low standard to reach.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I mean I would trade places with Chris Rock. He's rich. Just he have to be cool with a gender swap as well.

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 4

8 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 2

It was brilliant propaganda to pair a good cause with anti-US actions.Famous athletes can B more effective with constructive protest methods

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Lieutenant Dan? Is that you?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That is what is so subversive about pairing anti-US actions with a good cause. It is confusing, divisive & difficult to clarify.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think it has something to do with this false sense of patriotism and anything having to do with the military giving them a massive boner.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

You can be a patriot and still think there's a lot a country gets wrong

Question though, from a non-American ... what exactly *are* the NFL protests about?

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

The supposed cop brutality against blacks.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 23

You misspelled “well documented”

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

Racism and police violence, and specifically the sizable crossover between the two.

8 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 3

Uneven police treatment of black people. Many seemingly unjustified shootings of black men that result in no punishment for white officers.

8 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 4

Has anyone come out with an idea of how to solve those issues?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

One thing that could help would be to require police to stop disproportionately targeting people of color.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

We tried. When we actually succeed in putting one away for racial profiling, the POTUS pardoned him. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Racial injustice. Specifically the high profile shootings of black men by the police.

Systematic oppression of black minorities using the judicial system. Once blacks got the right to vote in the late 19th century 1/?

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 4

They used laws to put taxes and literacy tests to make sure they couldn't vote. These weren't abolished till 1965 with the voters rights 2/?

Act. Then late 70s they started using drug laws as a way to put minorities in prison. These laws were mostly enforced in black towns 3/?

I always hate when people bring military and vets into an argument as a leverage for their own feelings

Because we're so fiercely patriotic, they think that will end the discussion. A vet served, so his opinion cannot be argued with.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Same. I always stand. I'm glad more and more players are not.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

You know whats not a right? The president suggesting a private entity fire an employee for their political opinion. In fact, its illegal.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

I agree it is wrong. Not sure it is illegal, but is VERY wrong and in this case hypocritical.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's illegal. That's a clear violation of your 1st amendment rights

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It may be a right, but it's also the right of fans to boycott their games. Their bosses have every right to fire them if they want.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 11

Of course. But it could affect their team's performance, and all that for a peaceful, quiet protest against an important problem.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Listen, I'm not saying their bosses should or have to fire them. Just that they certainly could or might have to if this keeps up.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's not a right. I'm fine with them doing it, but they aren't legally protected from protesting at work.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 16

For the people down voting this here is a CNN article explaining the legality. (1/2)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Would be hard to argue for the boss. If a player does not stand up for a specific song but otherwise does everything right, what can he do ?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fire them. If you refuse to act according to the employers wishes they can legal fire you if it's not for a protected reason.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

For not having a hardon for the anthem ? Doesn't seem possible. It's merely a non-committed gesture, not even antagonistic.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They're also not legally obligated to stand for the anthem.

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Yes, but they can be asked to perform in a certain way by their employer including standing for the anthem if they wanted to.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 9

Yes. But if their employer has no issue with it, then nothing wrong is happening.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Correct. If the NFL says it's okay then it's okay. I'm saying that their is no legal right to protest at work.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Wouldn't that be protected ? An employer cannot regulate every gesture or lack thereof, especially where politics or religion is concerned.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I would think if it were illegal to protest at work we wouldn't have unions at all. NFL players are union workers. So I'm pretty sure this
