I think this to myself every time I watch one of these shows. Why do so many people have 500k to buy a vacation home?

"We have two kids now so our 3000sqft house just isnt big enough anymore"

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I really don't know how. It's one thing to buy a big house in a small town rural area, another thing entirely in the middle of a city.

If it's a repost... it's on front page all day...

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Def repasta, but still hilarious

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

with 3 children, 9 on the way, and a max budget of $7, let's see what Lori Jo can do!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

''sorry if it's repost'' mate you know it is, at least 3rd

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Isn't 500,000 what they're paid for being on the show?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So good

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If I had to guess it'd start with knowing the difference between 5M and 500k. That's fucking Runescape math dude.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

FUCKING THIS. I've been a contractor for 20+ yrs, wife makes 40k a yr, we got approved for 170k. WHY? Cause I'm SELF EMPLOYED, god dammit.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah we had trouble getting a loan because my husband is self employed, yet I just got laid off! If anything his job is way more secure!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And then there's me. "Should I spend $5 on some nice lights for my parents basement? I should treat myself..."

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

You know you're an adult when things like this piss you off.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

REALTOR here. These shows have given a lot of people unrealistic expectations.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

My friends fastest sell was a house that had a year decomp corpse in it. Been on the market for years so they passed off to him as new guy

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Great price for size and in a great neighborhood. He just called a friend who he knew was looking. "Fuck man, I don't give a shit" sold

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How so? I am am super curious in the different ways.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Mainly about what exists in local markets. Where I am, sad to say, 150,000 can get you a bad condo or an ok doublewide.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But also about what is easy to fix. Even a small, DIY bathroom remodel is gonna cost thousands and take months. Shows have experts

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Seriously, the worst thing I did in the months leading up to looking for a house was watching HGTV.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"I don't like the size of the closet and bathroom" - person shopping tiny houses

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Drugs, I hope. Otherwise I've just straight up fucked my whole life up.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"I like how I can sit in the bedroom upstairs and still be able to see you playing in the backyard with our son."

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or "imagine walking up to that view" ummm I'd prefer a great view from the living room, where I am most of the time. I sleep in the bedroom

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Have you ever seen the shows about people wanting tiny houses? Like 100 sq ft? They make requests for porches and queen sized beds, wtf?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You also have to realize that many people MAX out what they think they can "afford" not what they reasonably should purchase based on DTI.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

People they knew died and they could raise money from illicit organ donations.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Depends how long they've been saving and what they've gone without while saving.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Watching this show as working class poor is how I imagine it must feel for starving Africans to watch cooking shows.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We're looking for an open concept craftsman in the heart of the city with a 2 acre yard for the dogs and ocean views for $200K.

9 years ago | Likes 115 Dislikes 0

Also must have stainless steel appliances or have to redo the whole kitchen.

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

(ignores the fact that stainless steel does not speak at all for the appliance's actual quality)

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Middle of city with Ocean view, so Atlantis ? Bamboo floor too, yes?

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

You can view the ocean from a high rise

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Atlantis

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

BAMBOO FLOORING IS THE WORST. Can't look at it wrong without damaging the damn thing. As fragile as Trumps ego.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

2 acre yard in the heart of the city is actually the more absurd statement there.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I wasn't implying absurdity, it's just Atlantis is nice this time of year

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Really? You think a large island in the Northern Atlantic is going to have pleasant balmy weather in January?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You mean Atlantis ? Well hell yeah

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Repost, currently on the front page.

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 13

I don't read fp so why should I care?

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

I get downvoted when I say shit like this. I'm pre-emptively upvoting you incase the same happens to you.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 6

Buddy of mine was on house hunters internation when the got a place in Mexico. As you can imagine the whole thing is b.s.. They 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

had already picked there place when producers approached him. They really didn't get anything in return either.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I want to know more about this potatoe hanging job.

9 years ago | Likes 284 Dislikes 1

You need two bachelor degrees

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Well, the potatos are always flying around rooms, so you just have to catch them first, and attach them to the ceiling so they don't escape.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My spoon is too big.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I am a banana

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I tried watching property twin brosephs or whatever the Hell it's called with my dad and couldn't handle it. First rule of home buying is 1

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

NEVER look at a property you can't afford. And that is literally the FIRST thing they did. What the fuck? 2

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Well in that show that's the point. The buyers are always unrealistic with "must haves" without the $$$ to back it up.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

every time i watched this show they were shopping in canada. figure the equivalent numbers are 25% less in the us, even more in the uk

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I never see the Canadian ones. I see European ones and Jamaica and tropical places

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sure but they're often in Toronto or Vancouver, where 2 million buys you a pretty normal house so...

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

First of all,

9 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 6

I got it from somewhere else on the internet.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 8

they could have found it somewhere else

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

I did..thank you for sticking up for me.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 6

Typically, if you find it somewhere else, that somewhere else took it from imgur.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 5

i meant somewhere else, assuming that the original somewhere was imgur.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 5

I wouldn't care if not for the fact that it's literally on the front page right now.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I don't know why you would care if OP reposted it directly from your account. Its a fucking image on a website

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Seriously... I didn't look at the front page...I got it from somewhere else, and I browse usersub.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

And that's a repost too, since it was posted a couple of days ago.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

got it somewhere else, and I apologize - I don't do this much RESEARCH before posting. I thought this site was supposed to be FUN.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 6

I should get F**king paid if I have to do background checks of the things I post.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 9

Dude, calm down. It's a repost. It happens, and everybody gets called out when it does. Try to take it with a little dignity.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

You are correct. I overreacted. Thanks. I feel better.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

"We don't like the color, so we won't live there." Don't they know they can always paint?

9 years ago | Likes 153 Dislikes 2

Most of those shows they already have a house picked out. They're just nitpicking for the camera.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Cost over $500 to repaint my whole house when I moved in....

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

Pretty sure they are referring to the neighbors.....

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

"Don't they know that can always paint?" Don't they know it's staged?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

however, a bad paint job can be REALLY hard to see past, so i get it. source: just dealt with this in house-hunting.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

The rage I feel inside when they say things like this is enough to power a rocket to the moon and back, maybe even some left over.

9 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 0

I feel you gril

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Did you know on most these shows they have to have signed the lease to a house ALREADY to appear on the show?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I feel you

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

But have you looked at how much paint costs these days?

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

if they can afford to buy a house for 5 million, they can afford 7 thousand dollars to paint it.

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Aye, but not both

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

7000 dollars? i spent 500 on a 1800 square foot house.. are you painting with gold?

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

if a house is five million dollars, it would be a bit more difficult to paint than a standard home, inside and out.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

dude, 5 million dollars would probably get you a 1000 square foot apartment in new york.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If I'm buying a 5 million dollar house it's gonna look like MC Hammer renovated the sunofabitch

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

and if theyre buying a home for that price, you can be assured they arent painting themselves.
