You guys think this is a good, non offensive map for a dungeon?

Some of these look like level maps for Fallout 1 & 2.

As a DM in a Roll20 campaign who is out of ideas.... Bless you. By the heavens, bless you!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hey man, I DM for some friends on roll20, and map making is always kind of a hassle. I logged in just to tell you THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Jesus, save some of the pussy for us.

My GF has been jonesing hard for some D&D. No groups near us.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No way. This is is more valuable.

+500 to DM skills. Thanks!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sweet, awesome upload!

just ran my new group through phandelver, glad to see more detailed versions of some of those maps on here

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Beautiful. Any printables?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've been playing Diablo III on Xbox One and it makes me wonder if this is what DnD is like.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Diablo 3 is a hack n slash loot grinder. It's also one of the worst current gen versions of this style of game available. The success it 1/

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

has is based entirely on the Diablo name that the original, Diablo 2, and Lord of Destruction expansion pack built up. You could label a 1/

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

box Diablo with nothing but a rock inside and people would still buy it.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

not even close

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nope. Not at all.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What do you use to make these ?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I recognize a bunch of these from deviantart. There's a few really good battlemap makers on there.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I did not make them, simply found them off google images/deviantart/tumblr when searching for maps for my campaigns over the years.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

#2 is mine. I made it on Dungeon Painter Studio. Theres a second part that the stairs on the left goes to. I'll post it if people like.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Actually, saw you had the 2nd one in there too. But yeah, both made on DPS. I can give you others if you like.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

You're amazing with that program, I am still learning it. I can make good building interiors, but I struggle with the cavern looks.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes!! Why would the answer be anything other than yes?? Heroes like you are what get people who can't make maps into map making :)

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

137 people like sadness , anger, and despair!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'd give you more upvotes if I could.

8 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 0

I gave my +1 for you, never played D&D.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Why do so many dungeons lack adequate restroom facilities?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Because back in the day, most people relieved themselves into pans or pots beneath beds, or buckets in the corner.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Chamberpots, fair. Still needed to empty the night soil every now and then.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do what kobolds do (per Races of the Dragon), stick a small gelatinous cube at the bottom of a pit. It'll dissolve organic components.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I really want to try D&D but I’m a 23 year old girl and wouldn’t know where to go/who to approach, but it looks like a lot of fun

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I don't know if you're still looking, but I might be starting a campaign soon as my first time DM'ing. You're welcome to give it a shot.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Check out roll20.net there's some looking for group (LFG) boards to find games to join online.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm also a 23 y/o girl and I run my own games. You can find online groups on r/lfg, or your local comic gaming shop might offer something.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Thanks OP! Might try it online, I don’t know why but I would feel intimidated going into a comic store for D&D by myself haha

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Best way to get in is learn to DM and ask a few friends. Start an official module makes it easier and everything should fall into place! GL!

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Legit don’t have any friends (that I know of) that play D&D!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Jesus. This is gonna save me on days I forget to make maps or don't have enough for the session.

8 years ago | Likes 109 Dislikes 0

Me too! I just got reloaded for a game in progress.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What program do you use to make maps?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Campaign cartographer. It's unfortunately not free. https://www.profantasy.com/products/cc3.asp

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's everyday for me :( even when I prepare I feel unprepared

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My group has no constant pace. Some days it takes them the whole session to get going. Other days like two dungeons and a boss in 2 hours.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Haha, sounds about right

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I tend to have an idea and then just make the map up as I go to fit the idea once I run out of "prepared" areas

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

try donjon it can make random maps of different sizes and levels

8 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thanks man! This is gonna be so helpful.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Donjon is one of my fave gens for D&D. My other fave is Chaotic Shiny for plot element gens.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

These sound like things I should check out later. Thanks!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Chaotic Shiny? You don't happen to have a link do you?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Any tips for a first time DM? I've got the starter set, but it leaves a lot of unanswered questions.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I'd really recommend the Angry GM blog. Was hugely helpful to me when I first started: http://theangrygm.com/category/how-to-gm/how-to-run/

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Learn the rules first. If you have specific questions, hit me up. Or I can run you an intro session online and explain general stuff.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Always remember: the most important part of the game, is that the players have fun. What that means varies group by group. Also...

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

don't try to wing it when remembering NPCs or plot points - notes will save you over the course of long campaigns.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

try not to railroad your characters. push them too hard to save the world and they might just decide to stay in one town and run for mayor.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Matt Colvilles series on running the game on youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-YZvLUXcR8&list=PLlUk42GiU2guNzWBzxn7hs8MaV7ELLCP_

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Prepare your npc's as well as you can. They bring flavour to the world/campaign and you get to roleplay too. Other than that, just make

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

sure combat goes smooth and doesn't take the entire session. Know the rules and world and you will get the hang of it.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm more than happy to answer any DMing questions you PM me. Also - be prepared to improvise. Players never go as planned :P

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Read the adventure front-to-back and learn the basics of the rules before you start. Make sure your players understand the basics of >>

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

combat and their characters' abilities. Also, #5 and #7 are maps from the starter adventure, if you need it for a virtual tabletop

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You can PM me any questions, otherwise I recommend Matthew Colville on Youtube. He's got quality tips for DMing.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Right on. Thanks!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Combat: Each ability an enemy has makes it exponentially harder to run. My campaign-defining final boss has 6 abilities, for example.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Remember that simple != boring. A couple interesting abilities will always be better than 15 spells from the PHB.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Plot: Have a beginning, have an ending. Everything else should flow from the players' actions. Have a handful of encounters planned that...

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

...you can add where appropriate so you're never creating entire scenes whole-cloth.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

NPCs: Have a basic personality trait. Who do they hate, who do they like, and what do they want? How do they plan to get it? Same for orgs.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Orgs?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Organizations. 140 characters, gotta abbreviate where you can sometimes. <.<
