Flight magic: LaGuardia leviosa

My brain was breaking on the black line creeping ahead in blocks of fixed size until I realized there had to be panels getting folded away under the runway to make way for the rail, so a gap was only visible while planes passed.

They have just arrested a fully functional formula 1 racetrack with AI controlled cars actually racing. And of all racetracks they could have picked for that project, they chose Monaco.

Miniatur Wunderland is total sensory overload. If you're ever in Hamburg, do go.

That was great, thank you!

#3 wow, what's that garbage doing there?

"It can hardly be a coincidence that no language on Earth has ever produced the phrase, "as pretty as an airport.".

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The german language has produced the phrase, "Punctual as the federal railway." Which is hilarious, because the federal railway is primarily known for being notoriously late. The phrase must have originated in a time before neoliberalism and the glorious idea to turn the public german railway into a profit oriented semi-public-semi-private frankenstein, because it is not meant ironically.

None of the people who built this have ever assaulted a woman, stolen anything, committed fraud or cheated on their tax returns.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's some precision flying though.... almost like they're on rails.

#3 @0:04 - And the Millennium Falcon just casually parked on the tarmac.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

right next to the L-188

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The Falcon uses the airport just like all other aircrafts you see there, they also have the space shuttle. Every plane is programmed with it's own technically correct starting and landing angles as well. That place is marvelous!

Highly recommend to visit, they also have a very good YouTube channel

Why am i not surprised at all it is in Germany.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

It has died down a lot now, but one generation back, Germany was miniature railroad center of the world. For some reason. This place is a relic of that time. And still keeps growing and is being tinkered with for decades now.

Hamburg, meine Perle!

Also very social towards people in need. They have actions for poorer families where those can visit for free. So if you can give a bit extra do that, so they can keep that up, might be nice.

actions = special events or sessions, I'm guessing?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That’s a huge layout. All you need now is a rail yard and train connection. Nifty. +1

2 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 1

That's exactly what it has. The towns and landscapes the train goes to are in the next rooms.

My guess would be this is in the Miniaturwunderland in Hamburg, so there is pretty much also roads and trains and stuff around

2 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

Yup it is. The world's largest model railway in Hamburg, Germany

2 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Would make sense, seeing as how that's Hamburg Airport being represented...

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

They have scale models of a ton of cities around the world and they have continued to expand

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

One of these planes is not like the other.

2 years ago | Likes 363 Dislikes 2

Why does it have a boarding stairs?…

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You mean the actually flightless Boeing?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

I'm glad you mentioned it.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

It is a heap of junk!

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah that blue nosed-Douglas DC-4 at 0:08 (countdown till end time) stands out because it's a propeller-driven aircraft, not a jet driven one!

Memlemmyumflallcah!!

This reminds me of that annoying voice in the Mr Plinkett videos

Yeah, that bright yellow one looks silly

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I was surprised to see a DC 4 as well.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I am glad they also make it fly

2 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

They should put the stairs on those round bits at the side though (docking collar)
