Nothing but corporate greed. Bird flu was minimum, there's no shortage. It takes chicks 18-22 weeks to be laying egg chickens.

FTC already knew. FTC don't give af.

record profits

Meanwhile, I'm still selling to my neighbors for the same $3/dozen we've charged since 2018.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I have a family, man. I can't keep dealing with all of this shit constantly. All of it. I fuckin can't. I just want to enjoy my family.

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I want to enjoy my family, enjoy my life and not have to deal with stupid fucking bullshit all the fucking time. Every day is more bullshit.

Here I am selling out cage free farm fresh for $5/doz

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Good thing we have Anti trust laws to keep competition in the market place. ... ....

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's gotten so bad even Canadian brands are jacking prices up.

3 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 1

I still get mine at Shopper's for $3.30 on Sundays

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Record corporate profits combined with massive corporate layoffs. Hey dipshits, if nobody can afford your shit, nobody will buy it!

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Yet Eggland is reporting record profits…I wonder if investors will be getting a fat dividend?

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thanks Obama

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Has anyone considered using ivermectin as an egg replacement? Think of the possibilities!

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Well now that they are as expensive as the farm fresh eggs they sell up here in the Berkshires at every other corner its time to buy local.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

At my local grocery store the factory farm eggs were more expensive but the local pasture raised eggs were the same price. If you're going

3 years ago | Likes 70 Dislikes 0

to pay more for eggs, by the local farm stuff from the grocery store. They taste a whole hell of a lot better anyway.

3 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I've always bought those brands anyway and now I've been looking around like "what price hike? these are the same as always...."

3 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Exactly the same. "They're SO EXPENSIVE!" Wtf are you talking about?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Corporate Greed seems to be a very common source of problems

3 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Very nearly all problems humans face can be traced to it. Poverty, oppression, even climate change is where it is because of such greed!

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

They have had to cull 40 million birds last year for bird flu too, not that greed isn’t also involved

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

58 million now

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

I raise chickens, feed cost has gone up 30% that can't be the only factor

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Several houses on our street were egged last week. (3+ doz used) We suspect it was kids from the wealthy neighborhood across the street.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The free market.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They seem to act like buying a few hens is expensive or something. I'm ready to start a neighborhood egg farm.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Here in AZ Hickman Farms publicly stated there's no avian flu on their farms. They then said "We're going to increase prices because we can"

3 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

Yes, that's how markets work...

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 6

That's how greedy corporations manufacturing scarcity work. There's a shortage of buyers willing to pay that here, not an egg shortage here.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

At Fry's Hickman's 12 count Large eggs are $7.99. Kroger 12 count large eggs are $5.29, 18 count are $7.89. Kroger 18 count go first & fast.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Kroger Grade A Large dozen eggs were 1.49 January 2022.

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

we've started buying eggs from our neighbor. she produces one every month

A new mother cries; her placenta falls to the floor.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You’re thinking of the other thing.

3 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

Cooperations side with the hard R. They will do anything to make the other side look bad. Keep pushing corp profits vs the public cost.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They intend to eggstract as much profit as they can. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If only consumers would all agree to suddenly stop buying eggs...

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The prices are never going back to what they were, either, even when they get the bird supply back to what it was.

They're already going down in my area - they went up because 2.5 million egg producing chickens were euthanized last year.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is the new floor. We're used to it now, so next time they find an excuse it'll get even worse.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

I'll take you up on that bet. within 1 year from now, egg prices will go down. I'll bet $50. Screenshot this.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

If throwing down 50 bucks willy nilly were nbd for me I could afford $6 eggs lol

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I agree. All it takes is one egg producer to undercut and the rest will fall.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I have almost no use for eggs, but I'm still alarmed at the greed.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

egg prices have gone up + but the shelves are always full of eggs = greed

3 years ago | Likes 170 Dislikes 2

Shelves were full of eggs at $1/dozen too so yeah

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

. . . there are still eggs on the shelves BECAUSE prices have gone up. That's how cost-push inflation works.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Not here they had to cull 1,000,000 chickens because of bird flu

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The correct price always leaves stock, just like correct price of parking always leaves empty spots. Otherwise there's too much or too litle

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I can afford them, but I stopped buying them. Don't like 'em THAT much.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was at the store today and the egg case was empty. They were also priced at $3.66/dz.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Shelves are empty here in AZ

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is it because they are restocking it or no one is buying these super priced eggs. There is no excuse for this price. if it's this bad it-

3 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 2

should be rationed for now, like 1 carton per customer not 4 times the price.

3 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 1

I'm gonna go with eggs are not a necessity so they won't stop it from running wild. Completely unrelated, political donations will increase.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Trader Joe’s has a 2 dozen limit on eggs

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Corporations will take any excuse to jack prices. Yes, bird flu is affecting supply. Not remotely to the amount prices are going up.

3 years ago | Likes 508 Dislikes 4

And price might not go down after flu is gone…

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Avian flu wiped out 11% (35M) of the US flock in December. Also Christmas is 2nd highest egg consumption

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have a coworker who raises chickens, they said the price of feed is to blame. Hearsay I know.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It sounds like they want an excuse to jack the prices up high

3 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 2

Wait you basically said that, apologies

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

"But bird flu *might* affect the supply! So we have to protect our future profits by gouging now!" -Corporations/Futures Markets/Banks

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It’s why I think argument of “we can’t raise taxes, they’ll just pass it onto consumers” is dumb. If they could make more money by charging

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

More, they already would be. They set prices based on, if they raise them any more they’ll lose sales, and make less total. 100x$100>50x$150

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What does bird flu have to do with price increases?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Where do you think eggs come from?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I would think that chickens confined to a farm would have minimal exposure to wild birds that are the most likely source of flu.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

That's like everything the past year

3 years ago | Likes 66 Dislikes 1

2 years

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Why didn't they do that last year? or the year before?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

So far, my company has locked the prices to keep customers coming in. They did cap at 4 cartons per customer though

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes they had to euthanize millions of chickens, but not "$7.29 for 18 eggs" millions.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Getting richer in all the "confusion"

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

40 mill culled out of 325 mill. It's a hit but I wouldn't say it's major.

3 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 2

Is that 325M laying birds?

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

That's still a ton of miserable birds. I'm no vegan but damn.

3 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

I have just confirmed my bathroom is insufficient space for a chicken

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Most hens in the US would strongly disagree.

I often say conservatives are too stupid and indoctrinated to realize what they are really mad at is capitalism

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

While blaming him for it being broken by Repubs and simultaneously complaining about his fix.

It's like the schoolyard bully telling the victim to stop hitting himelf, whilst slapping him with his own hands.

3 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

They also love to point to problems caused by capitalism and use them as examples of socialism.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

I'd love to hear how a non-capitalistic system would have prevented the egg shortage.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 14

Did you read even the headline?

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

yes

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

HAHAHAHAHAH You think there's an actual shortage

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

yes

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

how much do eggs cost today?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

It's the price. We're talking about the price.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

this might blow your mind, but price and supply are directly proportional.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

But, even the egg producers that aren't affected by avian flu have raised their prices. It's just more corporate greed.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Eggs are eggs. Unless one company is using special mutant chickens, its the same supply.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2
