On Saturday May 12th between 1:45-3am someone smashed into my truck on Milwaukee St. (25MPH speed limit) in Madison, WI and kept driving leaving no note or information OTHER than a piece of their front bumper. A Madison Police officer drove by at 3:10 am, filed a report, and left a note on my windshield saying, "Hit & Run, no driver info, Case #....".
My car is currently in the auto repair shop. I have insurance and will be at No-Fault in the accident so my rates should stay the same. BUT i'm out of pocket on my deductible. If we can find the car that smashed mine and connect the two with police officers I won't be out-of-pocket for someone else's mistake.
This is a 10th Gen Chevy Tahoe ( 2007-20014) in Mocha Steel Metallic. This same bumper is also used on the 10th Gen Chevy Suburban with the same color available. I think this Generation Tahoe or Suburban is what hit my Tacoma. Below is some proof.
These three arrows and one red line show areas that line up perfectly with this Generation Tahoe or Suburban bumper and the color is spot on (although my lighting makes it look a little off). This piece is really big so I immediately knew it wasn't a car.
Here is a crop of the bumper with the three arrows and line on a 10th Gen Tahoe image I pulled from Google.
Here is a side-by-side showing the piece left and the Tahoe I pulled from Google. *Note the image on the right cuts off the little indent mid-bumper that the photos above show.
Here is another photo showing the comparison.
Does anyone think these panels don't match up? Any other suggestions? Has anyone seen a smashed up Tahoe / Suburban in their neighborhood or body shop? I'd love to have this person's insurance pay my deductible to minimize the most out-of-pocket expense as I can. While I'm fortunate enough to cover it on my own, it just feels bad paying for someone else's mistake. Thanks world and be careful out there!

Oh just call pimp my ride. They will fix it right up

If you come across them report it do not try and handle it.

Try contacting local body shops to see if they're wirking on a potentially matching vehicle, and if not, describe situation to give heads up

You're going to have to pay for someone's fuck up.

I shed a tear for a poor taco this day.

having lived in Madison, not surprised. People drive like utter morons in that town. Never seen so many red light ran until I moved to Ohio

I didn’t know Chevys had generations. I thought we just called them by year.
hodorgoestomordor
They call them by year but every few (2-5?) years they revamp the design.

Is there a part number or lot number on the bumper? Maybe able to narrow it down more year/even vin#
ImChrisB
That was the first thing I checked. Nothing stamped or etched.
