#27 my 17 year old son stopped letting me fix his plates last year. And if I try to make him something outside of normal meals, he always tells me no, that if he gets hungry he can make it himself. Shaming people causes people shame. Shame is a negative emotion. Negative reinforcement leads to altered behavior. Shaming people who act shamefully aids in preventing that behavior. Buying something every time you see something stolen does not undo the steal, or prevent/dissuade further theft. You're literally saying "if you don't like seeing something, stop doing the thing which might change the person's behavior and change your own behavior" and that's shockingly daft.
