I made this hunter green stretch velvet floor length dress a little bit ago, but just finished the bag so I thought I'd get some good pictures!

The pattern is Vogue V1520 by Badgley Mischka, I edited the dress 5 inches longer, and the sleeves 3 inches longer. I made edits to the neckline, down a lot in front, and up in the back, and used flat cording to keep it from stretching. I removed the gathering at the sleeve edge and didn't have to use zippers.

Even though I added 5 inches, I probably could have added more for taller heels, but I'm still really happy with it! The velvet is 4 way stretch, and the lining in black 4 way stretch.

I added flat cording to the front neckline so it wouldn't stretch out and give me wardrobe malfunctions. The cuffs got lace edging I had from another project.

Bias tape along both sides of the bodice area, especially the gathered area keeps the dress from stretching. There pattern only called for 2 way stretch fabric and bias tape on the gathered part, but I decided to add it to the other side too to be safe. The lining and hem I used the three stitch method used for narrow hems. You stitch 3/8", fold and stitch close to the edge, cut close to that edge and fold and stitch one final time.

Pattern is Butterick B5371. Free hand drew the embroidery pattern from one I found online, hand embroidered the Celtic knot.

The fabric is the same velvet from the dress. Emerald green satin lining, interlined with fake leather for structure. The contrast fabric on the flap is silk from another project.

I like it.

I've loved this one, it would be great to have an industrial one!

New 1000 dollar machine so I said I’d take it. I mostly just fix stuff. Camping gear and stuff. Mad respect for tailors and seamstresses.

What about the other one? Has the first one told it’s parents about being out? Is there a support system for the first boob? Is the second

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

boob been supportive?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Lol, there's a supportive bra and the neckline is sewn so neither of them are going anywhere

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yea I just saw the boob is out and thought it was funny given another context. Have fun with what you were given I say
