MRW I’m doing the math and I see that I only need to play extreme paycheque to paycheque for 4 more months….

Like, I’m so excited, it’s so close but so far away. Nothing is allowed to breakdown for at least 4 months.

You know what? I fricken love the positivity and support I see around here! Congrats, OP! Little bit jealous, but genuinely happy for anyone who "makes it"! Soon you can breathe a little easier, friend. :)

I only have a couple of more weeks until I can afford to pay a lawyer to help me reduce my felony. I'm excited, it will be such a huge boon for me.

Four months from now.

Now you have said that, put it out there that you want smooth financial sailing for the next 4 months, things are going to go wrong, i hope they dont

I don't know what the difference between "extreme paycheck to paycheck" is, but the fact that you used a non-American spelling suggests that you might actually have a chance to get out, unlike the rest of us American wage slaves. Good luck, I hope it works out for you!

Straw Dogs is such a fucked up movie. My great aunt was the projectionist at the local flea pit cinema and gave us her complimentary staff tickets every week. We quickly realised that they only checked ages at the ticket booth but because we already had tickets no one gave a shit that we were 14 / 15 and watched movies like Straw Dogs, The Exorcist, The Wicker Man, Mandingo and Emmanuelle every weekend.

This sounds like in 4 months there's gonna be another mass shooting or something.

That's pretty optimistic in America.

"Nothing is allowed to breakdown for at least 4 months." - Don't say that out loud! The universe will hear you!

This is the strange thing about being Danish - a lot of is live paycheck to paycheck... But we're pretty much guaranteed clothes, food, shelter and even some entertainment. We can't buy that LEGO set, and we can't save up for it... But we'll eat three meals a day while streaming Netflix.

Y'all accepting disabled Americans 🥺 ? As long as we prove we aren't Nazis?

Yah, they're going to welcome 200,000,000 of us with open arms.

Do Danes still get to travel and pillage?

I think the British took over that one.

Been there myself so can confidently say, great job! That's a long, dreadful journey. Four months will fly by and upward from there. Be proud of yourself.

I used to be against debt forgiveness and these kinds of arrangements. But no reason to keep people in debt forever and everybody deserves a second change. And it seems you aced the payment program.

My reasons for getting into that severe of a debt weren’t frivolous. It was going back to university in my mid 30s knowing I’d be making enough to pay it off one day. Fast forward world pandemic and my interest doubling in two years and it was absolutely crippling me. I had been a credit card holder for 20yrs and nothing unpredictable like this had ever happened before so it wasn’t like I was just crazy spending. But anyway, here we are, close to the finish line!

Imho it's honestly better in a lot of ways. Often better interest than runaway cc debt. Easier to make and budget one large payment etc.

..and most of all: it doesn't passivate people in welfare society. In Finland you could just let the goverment pay for you for the rest of your life. Never go to work, never earn any money, never repay the debt. I would be fine even if these programs only paid fraction of the debt back. Or none of it.

Have you tried doing that in Finland? It quickly devolves into a living hell where everything loses its purpose. Very few people are actually fine with it.
