7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It means Supported Opinion. I still don't get half of the metaphors...

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well, you're not wrong. It really do be like dat sometimes.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Significant Otter

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I too, and it didn't help that the first instance of SO was about an army base.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm not even a military person and I always think this at first.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Exactly, I was so confused

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Notably, i initially was confused as well, as S.O. means “Sex Offender” in my field

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

That’s even worse haha

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

? ? ?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh we definitely are.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

if I had a nood for every time this meme was misused...

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I'm a hockey fan and thought "congrats on the shutout"

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I thought it stood for 'Sexy Onion', am I mistaken?

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sex Object? Servicable Orifice?

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

To be fair, your not wrong

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well... They are.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I HATE when ppl use "SO" in memefont (everything is capitalized so it's hard to even notice). If using an abbreviation, use periods "S.O."

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I used to hate it because I thought it was lazy but now I always use GF or BF on here because it saves characters.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You're not alone. I did the same thing for awhile.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So if its not that, what is it ?... Asking for a friend

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Significant other haha. Glad I’m not the only one

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's fun when the acronym has several uses, like when Star Wars fans talk about the EU or CIS characters.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

lol= little old lady, it can be hilarious

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What does SO mean? As a non native i'm a bit confused

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Significant other, which could mean spouse, fiancé, boyfriend, girlfriend, etc.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

SignificantOther can refer to Dad, Mom, Bro/Sis "a person who is important to one's well-being". Most ppl use it ONLY for BF/GF/Wife/Hubby.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thank you

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Significant other is it’s actual meaning

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Maybe there's a reason you're in the military... We aren't the brightest.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Funny thing is, I’m not in the military

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well, there goes my joke.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

the post doesn't say it so I will. it stands for significant other.

7 years ago | Likes 188 Dislikes 2

I thought sex offender

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Thank you very much

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No it stands for senior officer.

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I always thought it stands for spouse and wondered about that fucked up abbreviation

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

so you have someone significant and some other significant? does that mean it is the person you are having an affair with?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

"Other" here is referring to someone other than yourself. Only one "other" can be significant to you.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

nah, it's just a gender neutral term for someone you're in a relationship with but not married too. like, boyfriend or girlfriend.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The person is significant to you in a romantic way / relationship

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thank you! I even tried to Google it a couple of times but i guess my googling skills suck.

7 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

"my googling skills suck"

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good shout, maybe I should of put that in the post. My bad

7 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 1

Well I suppose it would make sense from your perspective if you were in the army. And could read.

7 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 0

Wait, they let you read in the military?

7 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

Only a few people. Someone’s gotta pass orders along.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Funny because the military is disproportionately better educated than the rest of the general population

7 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

That’s unpossible

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Doesn't the subsidized college come after discharge? Except for officers I guess?

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

We get tuition assistance while we're in and getting an education is highly encouraged. A lot of enlisted people have bachelor's degrees.

7 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Doing school concurrent with full time service must be a tough balancing act.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Plus, at least in the Air Force, your technical training contributes to an associates degree

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Hell, a solid portion of senior enlisted have master's degrees.

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

The military are a horny bunch of rascals.

7 years ago | Likes 603 Dislikes 6

I was going to say... You weren't wrong

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Humans are a horny bunch of rascals.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

lots of downvotes. no one saying anything. there's a lot of rape in the military.

7 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 3

Its crazy how prevalent sexual assault in US military is.

7 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 3

It's changing, thankfully. The number of reports is going up because it's being encouraged to do so

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

and how it's so taboo to talk about. unless you can beat the shit out of your own CO, being a woman in the military feels crazy dangerous.

7 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 3

And dumb I'm starving over here where ma sammich

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 14

In theory, a female servicemember could defend herself against an attack by her CO. Absent witnesses though, it becomes he said/she 1/2
