The left is tired of seeing Democrats on ballots that twenty years ago would have been Republicans. We want the government out of people's personal lives, we want truly free speech, reasonable immigration and naturalization laws, no more military interventions, laws regulating industries, the end to Citizens United and similar laws that give corporations and big donors more power than the voters, and for the prosecution of the Epstein files. They don't deserve a vote if they don't want the same.

This is a good start but now you have to vote for the progressive candidates in the general election so that the party gets the message loud and clear

They got what they deserved. Liberals in this country are now no more than fascists that are afraid of the title.

General election will most likely be fixed. But primaries like this are showing that people are sick of the bigotry of the right.

insist that the party must shift to the right on topics like trans athletes in order to chase moderate and conservative voters. FUCK THAT..

TBH, you don't really have leftist people. True left idealogy would be universal basic healthcare, free education , tax the rich, free entry to all immigrants, maybe even universal basic income.. You are still struggling with issues we take for granted in Europe. These trans issues are just basic human rights and you are going backwards towards oppression.

It's a primary. I wouldn't read into it too much.

jesus you must be fun at parties

GOOD. Now do more.

If only 1 out of 4 people who haven't voted, actually voted, not a single republican would be elected. Don't believe me? Do the math yourself.

instead of getting more people to vote, establishment democrats put all their effort into attracting conservative voters.

Isn't there something about doing the same thing over and over again, while expecting different results?

GOOD. Fuck the DINOs.

Good. Now they just need a literal boot as well as the metaphorical one.

Fuck yeah

Reaching across the aisle only works if the other side is arguing in good faith and wants what's best for everyone. Until the Republicans turn away from a fascist, authoritarian takeover of our country, any Dem who sides with them should be considered one of them.

There's really no turning back for the Republicans at this point. Once a party of fascists, always a party of fascists. You can't wash out that stain

Colleageus. How hard is spell checking this many words?

To anyone that says the left needs to appeal to moderates kindly fuck off.

Every report you can find says the layman is tired of half measure bullshit

We'll have to drag them into a brighter future kicking and screaming.

There was a time not long ago that I was willing to buy the excuse that Dems needed to appeal to the center to win. Recent years have demonstrated that such a notion is, to use an academic term, complete bullshit.

When you tolerate the right it only makes them worse.

3 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's true. The problem is that the Overton Window is so far to the right that actual centrist views like, "Tax people who've exploited the system to make more money than the pharaoh god-kings of old and maybe make sure everyone can take time off to raise a newborn," have been replaced by relative centrist views like, "Maybe we should exile the homeless instead of letting the rich hunt them from helicopters for sport."

Now lets see if america can bring itself to vote for a woman of color, and see if the center is needed or not. :<

Dems always trying to appeal to the center is a big reason we're in this mess in the first place. They've allowed the GOPedophiles to pull the country so far right by just rolling over and letting them set the narrative.

It failed 2 out of 3 elections against Trump. Biden won in 2020 because Trump botched COVID.

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't know. I think the last few years have taught me the opposite lesson; that Americans are a deeply disappointing people and that you might actually have to sometimes choose between enshrining things like trans rights and stopping actual Nazis from building a network of concentration camps and that there might not always be a third choice.

I hate this place.

The further left they go though the more roadblocks and shit is going to be flung at them from corporations who run the media and own venues making it exponentially harder for a progressive to get in front of enough eyeballs to matter and they have to have a squeaky clean record as the slander campaigns of modern politics are super effective unfortunately.

3 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

I don't mind if Dems have slightly different opinions of politics, but a person's life and their rights aren't a matter of politics.

"meet me in the center" *takes two steps back*

3 weeks ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I have no idea how it applies to the general election. but within the dem party appealing to the center is how you get your ass rocked.

3 weeks ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Even if it isn't bullshit I'm past the point of caring. I will not vote for people who will actively vote against the betterment of others. If you think any one person in this country is not equal to everyone else then pack your shit and gtfo.

It’s also so mind numbingly stupid to be “center” when there’s two opposing ideologies like… hmm, I hate minorities but I’m also pro choice! I can’t decide!

3 weeks ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

That is literally what my parents still sound like except they keep voting for Trump bc they were “raised conservative.” Im done talking to them, they sound like fucking idiots but they did a decent job raising me at least- so I’m not a total fool. Fuck.

3 weeks ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I think that idea is still completely valid. It's just that the true center is currently pretty far left of our current position. What the powers-that-be are calling "center" is actually somewhere between moderate-right and far-right.

3 weeks ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 5

Eh, the center is always going to be right leaning even in a fully represented political compass. The reason for that is that there is no middleground between the two core principles of "everyone is equal" and "some people are inherently better". No matter who that group of betters is, be it white people, the rich, a king, it will always lead to inequality and slowly exacerbate them. And the centrists always think they're part of the betters and try to improve their own lot at the cost of others

That is likely true, but I still believe that heading towards the 'ever-so-slightly-right" is FAR more preferable to what we have now. A "Stop the bleeding now; deal with the chronic infection later" sort of thing.
