Walking past this church I wondered why they had done such strange brickwork

It just seemed so odd, and yet the same pattern repeated on the entire building

Still thinking about why they would do that I turned around to try and make sense of it. Yes, that's all it took. Neat!

It's so the Assassin guy can climb up to survey points of interest. There should be a haycart for him to jump down into somewhere nearby.

Nice. Shadows showing a torture device. Do they have fingernail pliers and Gaddafi knives on the other walls?

Idk. I think it is just double ugly. Both angles look terrible.

Fads, trends and style usually look bad in hindsight.

So, is religion is an illusion?

You have to look at it in a very specific way for it to make sense, but seeing it from any other angle is just strange.

Are shadows an illusion?

Really want to bake your noodle? Are shadows a light gradient or a temperature gradient?

Ummm both

What about a torch that only emits infrared? If you shine it on a surface for a while and cast a shadow in the beam: you can feel the temperature change but won’t be able to see the shadow. So, is it still a shadow if you can’t see it?

Your answers are on wiki: Shadow as a term is often used for any occlusion or blockage, not just those with respect to light. For example, a rain shadow is a dry area, which with respect to the prevailing wind direction, is beyond a mountain range; the elevated terrain impedes rainclouds from entering the dry zone. An acoustic shadow occurs when a direct sound has been blocked or diverted around a given area.
