ok, this is uber pedantic but the thing that bothers me is dude2 comes out of the shop, beeps the beeper to unlock his car and dude1 is already baffled. Why are you baffled man? He's just unlocking his car. Do american cars behave differently somehow or is this just bad editing?
Cars don’t beep when unlocking. Dude2’s motive is plausible if he forgot where he parked and so he would start re-locking his ride to locate it from the beeps.
Depends on the car. I have a Honda civic, unlocking it flashes the lights, but no noise. Same with locking it actually, only beeps the horn if I press the lock button twice.

you know what, I might be getting a bit confused. My car flashes it's light and makes a noise when you lock or unlock it, but that noise is just the lock engaging or disengaging, it never beeps. Not sure if it's a bug or a feature, I should look into that.
Most cars will honk if you double-push the lock button. In newer vehicles, you may have a way to disable this (I have, because I don't want my car honking in the garage if I remote start it - seems like a dick move to my neighbors on the other side of the duplex.)

This is what my car does, my gf's does the same thing. Mine's a mechanical beep while hers is her horn beeping.
