Kinda reminds me of Team fortress 2 where you bait players, usually guys/boys, with the tag feature with a semi-pixelated photo of a hot chick, wait invisible as a spy and back stab them. Hehhe
As someone having played Fortnite since Chapter 1 Season 3, way back in 2018, and still playing regularly with my kids today, I'm like 99% sure that definitely didn't happen. Neither item is currently in the game.
@op, another strat that was fun is one my buds called "magical hats". get enough materials to fill a flat area that youre guessing to be in the circle with the buildable pyramid structures. Sit underneath them in edit mode so you can see through. Surprise everyone.
I just do zero-build, unranked, and when I can get the current Marvel-themed gear fairly early on, it works out well for me and makes me feel like I'm not too old to do a shooty game. I'm pretty sure they're not all bots at this point. Shuri's claws ain't effin around, but the War Machine gear is pretty solid, too.
I play zero build and mostly solo. I dont win much but I actually have a fun time just with the zaniness of the game. I don't need to win I just want to make sure someone else loses.
I mean I like having the option to go against bots to learn the ropes, it used to be a regular thing in older MP games (get off my lawn!!). It's the fact they try to pass them off as players that gets me. Agreed completely on the predatory daily/weekly shit. I want a game, not a second job God damnit
Is this really a thing? Most be some very low tier developers. Most serious devs are battling farmer bots, would be stupid to add more bots on purpose.
That's not it, it's not the reposting, it's that he's a pathological liar who built his early clout on imgur on posting fake stories like the one in this post, but often of the sympathy-eliciting kind, passing them off as true. He also did an entire fucked up narcissistic fake impostor story arc using alt-accounts with different numbers of N's in the username each claiming to be the real Lassann and the others being impostors.
I think it was strategem or something, my wife's young cousin played and challenged me who had no idea what the game was. He had me dead to rights so I had to completely bluff, which luckily worked.
I recently read something about professional chess players who lose against complete novices because they can't possibly fathom the next move of someone who doesn't know what they're doing
Sadly, this is a myth. A casual player could absolutely win against a professional, but it's extremely rare - even masters make big mistakes occasionally. A complete novice, however, by definition would not know how to capitalize. I'm sure in the universe of played games there's been at least a few instances of a novice beating a professional, but not a statistically significant amount. On the other hand, if you can find the source, I'd be very grateful to be proven wrong!
This is what I love about games with an established meta playstyle. If you do something creative for once, people are usually completely caught off-guard
I have a friend who was president of the chess club in high school. I beat him one time because he was so confused about all of the moves I was making. Never happened again, he learned from that, any move I made was assumed to have happened at random and could largely be ignored.
Used to use this when playing call of duty with a friend. He played to the meta and I really didn't. More than once I'd kill most of the enemy team just because I was somewhere strange. My favourite was when I was laying in the middle of a room on the floor and they ran in checking corners.
It reminds me of the booklet (probably a joke, but a good one) on how to fight Americans distributed in WII. It explained why US troops were so dangerous: They didnāt know what they were doing or how things were supposed to be done, and they didn't gaf.
I saw this in CSGO. You could tell someone got boosted to higher tiers because they would do stuff that made no sense. After a few rounds the element of surprise was gone and they just became a liability.
Back when Team Fortress 2/Counter Strike (can't remember which. I think it was both) would let you use custom spray tags, I'd occasionally use a picture of boobs. Spray it. Wait in a hidden area. Kill whoever stopped to look, and dude... everyone stopped to look.
As someone who plays TF2 today I can tell you this practice is still very much in effect, although it's not uncommon to see things quite a bit more... explicit.
It's like when I play LoL with friends, they're lower rated, so I make predictions based on the people I'm used to playing against and they outplay me by just not doing anything lmao
and unless they change, Riot would than fucking nerf off-meta shit to the ground, RIP Banaroka - they hate people who play characters outside their rigid role assignment
I remember winning a wildly stilted toplane matchup back in the early 2010's because I decided fuck it, we play poppy with damage instead of tank. The ranged top they had was expecting to have trades where I popped them for a bit, then they got to rain shots on me while I ran away. Instead, I would Q them for 4/5ths of their health and then slam them into a wall when they panicked. I miss old on hit poppy builds.
Oh man I loved fighting Teemos cause 99% of them are predictable and bad. They have absolutely no counterplay if you don't let them do Teemo things. Riven is especially amazing cause she's strong enough to kill him at level 1.
Absolutely. It's part of why he liked his tank teemo. Early game he's still very vulnerable (and hated rivens lol) but pretty quick here just gets obnoxious to kill
Grenade Amumu deserves mention here, back in the days of DFG. You come into lane, they expect tank mummy but... your health bar is so... small? OH GOD, WHAT THE FUCK DAMAGE! Leona/Brand is straight up terrorist shit and I LOVE it.
Yaaaaa nade mumu was rude. We had a 5 man off meta group, and it was really obnoxious because it just undermined the standard gameplay loops.
Our botlane was my fav though. So much cc, plenty of range and engage, nice and tanky (roa brand). Just need to hold them down long enough for brand to hit 3 times generally.
I did sometimes play AP Leona though. Nothing like a 2.5k combo from Leona to really make people go 'uh. What... What just happened?'
Way back when I played, I had a super-niche Leona jungle(Enemy jungler not a good counterjungler, at least two lanes very violitile snowbally matchups), where I'd get buffs and start mostly just ganking level 2-3. She had better gank angles+CC then pretty much any proper jungler and I was very good at Leona as a mostly support player, people were just not prepared for her, and once she got her ult? Whoof.

Portafort is an item you can use to throw up a massive bunker/fort out of nowhere.

Nah, they just added "zero-build" games an an option for folks who didn't like the building. Meanwhile, the build-enabled matches continue on.

Absolutely ridiculous for a novice to beat a professional. I'm trash, but even I wouldn't lose to a novice in fair play.
Ok, sure, in bullet or hyper bullet, yeah, because I'm slow, but blitz or longer time control? Come on, get real.
