OMFG...Absolutely the most beautiful blade I've ever seen. Speechless

Thanks, I hate it

What an insane amount of effort. But the result is damn. It's impressive what crazy shit humans can come up with.

Forbidden popsicle

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

No fucking way. So is this an alternate method of folding?

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is THIS your card?

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There's a whole lot of hotting the colds and colding the hots going on here.

That's metal

I liked the part where it goes WRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

7 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Sweet shit that’s a lot of layers. I would have preferred a full tang, though. That’s just me. But beautiful work. +1

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Oh wow, it’s like those clay canes!

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fucking stunning

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

did he leave the PLA in the billet?

7 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

yes.. and no. The PLA burns off real easy-like, when you're talking about forging temperatures. The pinhole in the canister helps the burnt PLA gas be somewhere else. Check out Alec Steele's recent experiments with dogmascus

Ah I knew there was a knife in there somewhere.

7 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I immediately thought it was going to be a sword. I was sorta right. Seems like a lot of work

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I dunno. Who has time to do this if you're already spending 6 hours a day browsing Imgur?

7 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

The day has 18 more hours..

7 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Only during midsummer weeks in the high arctic.

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

gonna be honest, any time I see something like this with so many steps, i'm at least a little bit disappointed when the result isn't dickbutt

It's a no from me, dawg

7 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I could have sworn that was shurap, but the maker's mark is different. I wonder if the maker is an associate, friend, or fan of shurap?

Broooo, almost tought "why did he removed the green clay again?" but it was just one part of the pattern. It's actually pretty smart to make it easier, instead of having to make a more perfect shape first. Absolut time server tactics.

time saver*

You see, first you wet the dries

7 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

That came out looking 10x worse than I expected.

Welding all of those layers is a major accomplishment in itself. Designing an interesting pattern and keeping it true through the forging process is about as hard as it gets for pattern welding. This is impressive. If you want pattern welding perfection, check Kyle Royer on YouTube or google his knife making website. Best I’ve ever seen

I follow Alex Steele on YouTube, I know how much care and effort goes into the patterns, which is why I had pretty high expectations of seeing a nice and aesthetically pleasant pattern with all those clips of the work that went into this. The finished product was far below what I expected.

Hot the cools, then cool the hots, hot the cools, then cool the hots, now dust the cools

7 months ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

Soak the metal in knives, then knife the metal which was previously soaked.

7 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Harden the soft, and soften the hards

7 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

And squeeze the hots

7 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

And don't forgot to soak the cools

7 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Soak the cools in cold

WTF??

I've watched enough episodes of Forged in Fire to understand *something* of what's going on here. Canister Damascus and some other shit.

Magic shit

hot playdough

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

that came out far more beautiful than i would have ever guessed

7 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

Yes, it's really beautiful. The effort put into it is insane though.

7 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Let me guess. You like knives.

7 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You've got a sharp perception!
