I was 14 when I was stopped outside a bathroom (I’m 42f now) by a gentleman who said “young man, you’re going in the wrong bathroom”. I had a pixie cut, no makeup, and wore baggy clothes to cover the body I hated (plus struggling with sexuality). To this day I feel the shame and horror, the impulse to run and never look back. A drop in the ocean compared to what trans/nonbinary/genderfluid folks are going through rn. And being an asshole wasn’t reinforced by the gov’t back then…
I know a trans person (friend’s son) who goes to college in Arkansas so is forced to live in the girls’ dorm. They were stopped at the entrance every day the first couple weeks. It is just so stupid.
Not this year. This year a bunch of companies don't want your gay money and everybody should respect their wishes and not give them any. Personally, I only go to Target to use the bathroom, so I'm actually costing them a small amount of money.
Same. At work a lot of the bathrooms are single person, two side-by-side, throughout the building, but still pointlessly gendered as "Men/Women." I use whichever is open.
Meanwhile, if it's one single bathroom by itself, it's not gendered, just labeled "restroom," so they clearly know that that is an option.
Slightly related: saying at a hotel near Davis CA at the same time as about 30 black folks who were in town for a funeral. (I asked)
I was in the hotel dining room getting coffee on the day of the funeral when an old white couple (65-70) get off the elevator and stumbles into a room absolutely full of Black folks
Based on her reaction I’m guessing the old woman had never actually met black people or at least never imagined that she’d be in a room with 30 of them
Because of the anti trans laws that are being pushed, masculine looking cis women are being targeted in women bathrooms, because Terfs think they are trans men.
I've thought about this for myself because I have very short hair. I also have very obvious boobs, so I should be good. If not, I'm ready for the first motherfucker to try to put hands on me.
Similar. I have brightly painted nails, long hair, and usually have pink or other brightly colored scrunchies and accessories. I get strange looks in the men's room, despite having a beard. Those people probably assume I'm either trans or gay, likely offending their toxic concept of masculinity. If anyone tries something, they will find out that a person can be queer and have advanced combat training.
I've been called a dike countless times because of my short hair and wardrobe. I don't really care but JFC, if only they knew how much I love a good dink. The men who have dared to ignore the stereotype have been very appreciative. I can cook too. I love men, it's too bad so many are judgemental assholes.
the shock leading into irony is what gives it hilarity. sometimes i feel like i'm married again, when people try to comment back to me on imgur. god damn, it's okay to laugh.
oh wow look at you, just oh so clever. i'm sure that you feel extremely proud of yourself. i hope you didn't stay up all night thinking about that one.

I really did know a dude in the 80s who looked like the young lady in black.
Saw him a few years ago. He’s aged gracefully- a few wrinkles and a bit more gray, but that’s it.

That was a lot of pads that came out of, like everywhere. I laughed at that

The lack of reaction on the strap snap one is impressive

If I'm in a room with plumbing, it's the right bathroom.

My wife often has a buzz cut and it always gets looks and assumptions. People have been surprised when they find out she's got a husband.
