I love the fact that Douglas Adams parodied it in hitchhikers guide.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No, this is patrick :) - But really though good God that was a fine read.

Never has all caps been more appropriately used.

I saw this version of it for the first time last year on imgur... got me reading scifi classics again. This gives me chills every time.

Fucking amazing!!

I had chills at the end there my god.

I LOVE this.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I feel like I spent a few trillion years reading that.

10 years ago | Likes 210 Dislikes 6

Took forever to get to the bottom...never mind that I have to load 12 more images, which I thought I hit given how long the images were

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

My brain is all fucky.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

This is beautiful, human mind is so great.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Rip mobile users.

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Im on mobile. It worked just fine.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Had to dig it up on the desktop to finish it. Several of them were too pixelated to read.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You know my pain buddy ^_^

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Brilliant. One of my favourite Asimov stories. Nice job, thank you.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I saw many dog post, cancer posts, friendzone posts, disaster posts and so on. This is the first time ever imgur post made me cry.

Username checks out...

Great now I've got to scroll all the way to the top to see what you're talking about

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If only you were on PC

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Surrounded by ruins, i'm the last of my kind. Long ago humanity put all its efforts towards reading this post. It is...finally...over......

10 years ago | Likes 155 Dislikes 6

Let there be upvotes

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Greatest post I've seen yet. Longest ever. The deed is done

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Make the hair on the back of my head stand up every time I read it.

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

I really like this. However, it's presumptive to think we will ever make it that far as a species.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ye, i fully expect the rest of you wont make it that far.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not with that attitude

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

This... This made my life ;)

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Flutter

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It pains me most of all that I shall never live to see the age of Flutter

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If this ended up dickbutt, I was going to throw my computer across the room.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Found my new Religion.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Asimov is one of my all-time favorites, and this is one of my faves. I had NO IDEA anyone had illustrated this. Marry me?

10 years ago | Likes 359 Dislikes 5

EXACTLY what I was going to say! I can't wait to send this to my sister.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

His essays are also amazing. He was a brilliant man.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I always loved Asimov as well, I love the Original Foundation most out of his work.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I would, but low-moisture part-skim mozzarella cheese? Clearly we should see different people.

10 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 1

Did I post something about buying cheese or am I missing a reference?

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I creeped your submitted images before replying. You could creep mine but I lurk so hard.

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

*blushy* haha, I'd forgot about the cheese sticks.

10 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Now they just need to illustrate the last answer

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The answer was to become god and restart a new universe.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

is this the enhanced version of "which came first, the hicken or the egg?"

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Now everything I see on here will seem way too shallow

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

A great man once said, "If you wish to make apple pie from scratch, you must first create the universe."

10 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

I came to this conclusion on my own when I wanted to male chips from scratch. Nothing is from scratch.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Can you create an idea from scratch?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

fuck, philosophy up the ass

I've never been able to read all the way through this post. Is it worth it?

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 5

Boooooh! Boooh this man!

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Yes.

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

don't pass this over

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You've never been able to read a short story that takes, at most 10 minutes? I really worry about your attention span.

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

It's mostly the fact that I typically use my phone and it's tiny to read and annoying to zoom

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well to be fair, it is a pretty long comic. Took me a few years!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've never agreed with the supposition that population growth would continue to accelerate once immortality was achieved.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

be stuck with one of those.... things for the rest of eternity? fuck that!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I feel as though humanity will wage war over the "gift," of immortality. It will probably be our end, should those be selfish with it.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

there are a lot of unlikely suppositions in this, why aren't there other species in other galaxies, but he wanted to say a particular thing

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I think this is also based on the old assumption that "empty space" is actually empty and not full of stuff we can't properly detect.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

where did you get that idea, i can't see it even between the lines.. i especially like how computers still use vacuum tubes

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

that we may not have discovered everything yet.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

o yea i get you, that vacuum energy's limited as well then is it? well of course it must be

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well I feel like the time it would take to reach maximum entropy is presented as much shorter than it would be if he had taken into account

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Except "dark matter" (also known as "Lol, I dunno") does not necessarily exist.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

There's a lot more to it than "lol I dunno" smartass.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Do you know of any documentary I could watch that includes this theory?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Follow the controversy. If you have respectable scientists putting forth reasonable counter-theories, then it isn't a fact.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Can someone explain like I'm five the law of conservation of energy vs entropy?

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

current energy in the universe is vast but finite: the universe is expanding in infinity with no end. actually speeding up.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Energy in all its forms dissipates. There is finite matter and energy in the universe. Eventually it will all end and become nothing.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Did the power of consciousness sacrifice itself to transform back into the energy of a universe recognizable on our plane of existence?

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

In the end, the AC encompassed the entire universe, all matter, consciousness, everything, that had existed in it. It was essentially god /1

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It didn't exist in our plane of existence, but in "hyperspace". It resided and was something we couldn't comprehend. Once everything was /2

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

merged with the AC, time and space had no more meaning. After it solved the problem, it basically created another big bang.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

or did it create this big bang?

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Or the one before this one?
