That last one though...How many men have been found in piles of their own brass?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No. 3. I see an excellent sniper target silhouetted against the skyline,

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Truly, let us never forget the bravery for which they freedomed.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 5

Wow, war is cool!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As former Army, #2 is 100% effective. My CO had a very specific way of asking if you didn’t want to get pick. Never told anyone how though.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I DON'T have an unending respect for those who serve in defence of their country.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 11

Most of this was JUST on the front page. Let a little time pass, at least.

Shouldn't the military pay for corrective eye surgery so their soldiers wouldn't need glasses that could be lost -> low performance?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In addition to what AviMavi said: They do pay for corrective eye surgery. I haven't worn glasses in 10 years.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not all eye issues can be fixed via surgery, and sometimes it can have permanent side effects. Source- me and my terrible eyes.

OOOHRAH!! FELLOW DEVIL DOGS!!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Warthogs still look like normal-ish planes when inverted.

It's 0423 where I am, and I am here for this.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

oh god, so many memories

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Too bad no war has been fought by american soldiers to protect their country since the civil. Too much glorification of the military...

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 28

The selflessness of American foreign policy is a fault? Bizarre.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 5

Who frosted your flakes this morning there Skippy?

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 4

Skipped history class in school eh?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I don't think LT's gonna complain about getting out of the cold - good advice!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

a friend would like to know what an LT is

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Lieutenant - bottom of the officer ranks.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

my friend says thanks!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's a lieutenant. Which is just a private with a degree.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lieutenant

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No disrespect, but defence from what exactly?

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 5

Global chaos. Doesn't always work out like was planned, but it usually makes things at least a little less shitty.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Defense from our foreign interests being infringed upon. This game you see unfolding is chess. As a civilian, you only see the first move.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 13

As a civilian I want to raise my kids worring about my gvmt interference in my life as possible. Much less some foreign CEO or oligarch

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

Anyways, you asked. Wars will never go away, so you might as well get used to it.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 8

Or just fetishise it like this pillock.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Not with that attitude they won't

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Even if I have a good attitude about it, people will always be shitty to people.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

#2 is SO real it hurts, and I was navy, it worked just the same. (never be the first to talk)

8 years ago | Likes 205 Dislikes 5

Never be first, never be last, and never volunteer for anything.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"You can volunteer or be voluntold"

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

army vet...never raise your hand for anything

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Never, ever, ever, speak up or volunteer.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"Oh you didn't volunteer? well now you're being voluntold!"

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Former Air Force, can confirm.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's no better in the civilian world.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Finally the fine art of being voluntold is captured on camera.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Who likes beer?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Navy? The Marine Uber service?

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Never Again Volunteer Yourself..

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Explain for my friend?

8 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 1

As soon as the request was sent out. One immediately responded.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If you ask what you just volunteer.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Since he asked he becomes the first volunteer

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Damn that blows

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Never be the first to talk/don't ask stupid questions or you volunteer yourself for the grub work and/or menial tasks

8 years ago | Likes 68 Dislikes 1

Wouldn't that be a question of whether or not I have my consent? /s

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 5

think of it like this. the tallest nail gets hit first.

8 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

The biggest mouth makes the biggest target

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Never heard that before, I like

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What if you ACTUALLY volunteer? Do you get brownie points with the ranking officer or do your fellow soldiers just look at you like "Dafuq?"

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Generally if they don't tell you what it is for it is going to suck

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just don't hide a doughnut in your footlocker

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Never Again Volunteer Yourself..

8 years ago | Likes 56 Dislikes 0

NAVY -Never Again Volunteer Yourself.. lol

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I always volunteered. After the third time volunteered, I was permanently banned from special duty out of fairness to others.

8 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

MARINES: my ass riding around in navy equipment, sir!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Very interesting loadout on that A-10 #1

8 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 2

They usually store sidewinders along when for chance encounters with helicopters, or a hail marry against fast movers.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Really bugs me the load-out is asymmetrical. I think they just put one of everything on for a publicity shot.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 6

Left to right: GBU-10?, 7xAPKWS?, AGM-65, Mk-82?, Mk-84?, GBU-10?, BLU-1?, AIM-9

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That "BLU" is Litening pod. You at least got the 82 and 84 wrong way. And they aren't the basic variants anyway.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If you don't like asymmetry then the A10 isn't for you.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Naw the offcenter gun is fine, it's how they could have had a symmetric load-out, but then chose not to.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Like seeing someone set a table with the fork on one side for one plate and on the other side for the next plate.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

They have a targeting pod on one wing, that alone means you cannot have it symmetric.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

#1 A-10s have a dark spot painted on the bottom, below the cockpit, to make it hard to tell if it's upside down or not.

8 years ago | Likes 101 Dislikes 3

CF-18s have the same feature.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It confuses its natural predators into thinking it's always watching them, an example of natural selection in the wild

8 years ago | Likes 59 Dislikes 0

I believe this practice first started on Canadian CF-18s, but was later adopted by numerous other operators and aircraft.

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Look how much soot is covering the bottom of it from that badass 30mm gun firing. Someone has been dispensing a lot of freedom.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's pretty clever. Guess if you're that close though you're kind of fucked anyway, right?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Whats the reason for them being upside down? And how does the camouflage prevent someone from shooting it anyway?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fake canopies are more a thing for aircraft that might see air-to-air combat. The idea is that in a dogfight it fucks with the other pilots'

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

sense of perspective.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's not very effective. Everyone knows the only effective way to engage the A-10 is at distance with a several missiles.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Actually lol, the effective way to engage an A10 is with another plane. They handle like their namesake, pigs.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Yes, airplanes shoot down other airplanes with missiles.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But does a pig brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrtttttt?

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Yes, and you also don't want to be in the line of fire.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

That's for ground targets, I don't believe it's ever shot down another aircraft with that gun

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

One shot down a helicopter, but I don't think they've downed a fixed-wing craft
