My coworker did a tune up on a Ford V10 with the infamous spark plugs. Not a single broken one. He definitely needs to buy a lottery ticket.

Boring

I've never had a problem with getting plugs out.

Anti-seize was used when installed, probably. Please, for all the mechanics out there, do this to save the next guy.

Holy shit, and I thought having a Fiero was a miserable car to change plugs in... +1 for your friend doing better than I did.

That's what happens when you hold your mouth just right.

Proper tongue placement is key

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Gotta stick your tongue out the side just about a quarter inch. A trick my autoshop teacher taught me in high school

Use a 3/8 impact. Seriously. Start with low torque and gradually increase. Works wonders

10 hells. That's witchcraft if I ever saw it. Burn your friend he bought ratchets from Satan.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Holy shit! I didn't know know this was possible.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Eual opposite reaction. He's used up his luck. He's the LAST person who should buy a lottery ticket. Find someone who's broken 60 in a row.

That lucky bastard

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Been working on my own cars for close to 10 years, I've never broken a spark plug.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Its a specific engine design with really crappy non-standard spark plugs. Normal plugs don't really seize or break all that often.

I wish someone would do a post for what maintenance a car needs at what mileage for us car dumb folks...

What kind of bullets are theses?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For those wondering, here's a video of the tool that removes the plug if it breaks https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eoAxkIpHY3I

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Holy crap! That's rare!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's a miracle!!!

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I did a double take when I saw all 10 of them intact

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

For those who don't know. They're two part plugs that are notorious for breaking due to insufficient threading on the 1st gen design.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The 2nd gen design, on the other hand, does not have this specific problem. Unsure which was used from the picture.

I had a Ford van that needed plugs and I LOVE THE UNKNOWN MAN WHO SMOTHERED THE PLUGS IN PLUG GREASE BEFORE I OWNED IT

9 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 0

"Plug grease" lol, I like you

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You caught me, I can't figure out how to spell antisieze

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No judgement. I'm just going to call it plug grease from now on. Much better term

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I remember some said to use an impact gun to remove them.. I was like not buying a ford truck lol

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes use a 3/8 impact

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

the original plugs had these issues. the SP-515 plugs do not. Source: 06 5.4 Expedition with the SP-515 plugs. No issues pulling them out

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sounds like gamble buying it still to me. It's basically a toss up than.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've bought the SP-515's. Haven't had one ever break on me when changing them. Ford no longer sells the original plugs

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sounds like the shit plastic 4.6 intake manifolds that they got sued for.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Even the 5.4 has a plastic intake manifold.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why would the plugs be broken?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Because they're two part plugs with insufficient threading for the two parts to be joined at. Notorious for breaking on removal.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

because you touch yourself at night

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No, that's the reason I'm on imgur. I was asking about the spark plugs.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Bad design, and the plug are fragile.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Carbon from the combustion chamber lodges itself in between the two piece design causing weakness. When the plug is turned, the bottom half

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Breaks off in the head. Two ways to get out, $3200 a head at Ford, or $65 tool and do it yourself. That tool saved me so much money
