Edit: The sentiment is cool, but unfortunately P.T. Barnum sounds like he was a jerk. Sorry :(

#15 the problem with this is that we don't know which big outcomes we're changing by making small changes. We don't have future vision hindsight.

Steve Irwin was a lovely, wonderful guy & a caring dad. But part of being kind to animals is trying not to bother them. You can teach people about animals without disturbing them in their natural habitats. Give wild animals space, & especially, don't go LOOKING to disturb animals to make a point about them <3 RIP Steve tho

#9 Almost anywhere else first world other than America, we wouldn't have given a second thought to the fact that the couple was hasidic, what one's own religion or political standpoint was or what race or religion the breastfeeding mother was. We would have just let a loving human couple sit together and a caring mother have space to nourish her child. This is our human world, not constantly filtered by the differences.

Inspirational quotes by PT Barnum are kinda fucked seeing as he exploited the absolute fuck out of nearly everyone in his life and was a monumental piece of shit.

Steve loved animals so much he likely would of told sting ray sorry and never blamed it for its action that he died.

Always need to include LeVar into that group:) I owe so much of me to that guy. TNG and Reading Rainbow pretty much was me... a wannabe hopeful sci-fi reading Trek fan.

#16 A Tolkien quote but corrupted:
The world is indeed full of peril, and in it there are many dark places; but still there is much that is fair, and though in all lands love is now mingled with grief, it grows perhaps the greater.
The Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of the Ring, II, 6. These words are being said by Haldir.

OP, I saved and stole some pictures, including the pet tax, unknowingly. It's a great picture, and I melted. Can I please keep it? I'll delete it if you say so. Either way, great pic of a great doggo moment.

I would assume them posting it on a public forum like Imgur would mean they're okay with anyone taking it, but that's so kind of you to ask them anyways. =)

#11 There have been many times where I have wanted to end it all, but I always think of all the videogames and music I'll miss. (And my family as well, obviously! 😂) Just a few days ago some of my favorite rap artists all released music on the same day! (Tech N9ne, Eminem, and the Kottonmouth Kings!)

When I opened the yt sub post feed I saw a release list by Em and Tech N9ne almost at the same time. I was like:

#11 But is it okay to be fearful for the future? Asking for a friend.
Nisu
It is perfectly ok. Just don't do something irreversible over something that hasn't happened yet. I wish the best for you and your friend <3
Telharmonius
Yes. We fear the future because it is constantly renewing itself, and we can't predict how those changes might affect us. We too, are constantly renewing ourselves, no matter how hard we try to remain the same. All things must change therefore, change is normal. Relax. Take care of yourself. Forgive yourself if you stumble. You are here to add in your part of the story, even if it's just to take a quiet nap. Tomorrow holds new adventures for you.
naery
It's okay to feel anything. Feel the feelings, acknowledge them, learn the wisdom they have for you, then let them go. Do not be bound by your feelings, let them be the soil from which you grow.
ButTheyWereAllBad
^^^ THIS up here. ^^^ Let things go. If you can do something about it, great. Do it. If you cannot, let it go. Don't let negative things fester, grow and consume you. Learn what you can from it, apply it where necessary, lighten your load. Experience joy from the lightness. Share your light.
ArchMagos
#15 the fear is that the changes are completely unpredictable, and almost always for the worse.
lordnequam
You have no basis for comparison on how you've affected the future. Change the past, and you can tell what is different—for better or worse—but you aren't "changing" the future; just making a different one than would have been made by other choices (with no way of knowing if those other choices would have been better or worse).

#8 this is me and my partner. I can’t describe how lucky I feel after decades of chaos, trauma and abuse. We are so quiet that the loudest things around us are things like ice falling in the freezer. I know that with time my c-ptsd will get better, and it’s because the universe helped me get out of that chaotic lifestyle and I work with my partner every single day to keep that blessing permanent. We hope to maybe adopt older kids at some point to help them through their struggles too. <3
ayeseaturtles
Thank you for sharing! I'm cheering (quietly) for you, your partner, and your healing journey!
ButTheyWereAllBad
I was thinking the same thing. Sometimes we need to believe it is us against the world, we need to be cheerleaders for one another, not finding things to bring the other down.
KawaiiInari
Same! My bf is such an amazing person and partner, and has helped make our home together safe and calm. I want my kid to know she is loved and respected, and can be a kid in her own home. I want my bf to know that I am a good partner and that he can be vulnerable wuth me. It does take work, but peace in a home can be achieved when people choose to heal. I have a life with a chaotic past and sad childhood, so this is a dream come true for me.

#6 out of curiosity, - does anyone know what religion forbids dress-up?
squirrelgirl86
I know Jahovah's Witnesses forbid it. There are probably others but that's the one I know offhand.
StarshipSuperTrooper
Most dogmatic applications of religions don't allow it. Judaism, Muslims, Catholics. Not to say all members of the religion do this. Which would make me raise an eyebrow. I know some Seventh Day Adventists who would oppose their kids being associated with dress up
MissSiesta
That's news to me! I've never heard of it until this post.

#18 Aww, this looks like my dog Rome. We had to put him down in April... Now I need a hug...

CommonMerre
So sorry to hear that! Do you know what breed(s) he was? Bing is Golden Retriever X Lab. And if he’s like Bingley, I assume Rome was a big and lovable doofus?
whitefoxkei
He was a black lab/Australian shepherd mix, so had very similar fluff. Used to be very energetic but calmed down a lot when he got older. He was typically very quiet and stayed out of the way. He had this cute habit of looking shy whenever I talked to him. Like he'd just be lying there watching us, I'd go "hi buddy!" and he'd suddenly look down at his paws like "who me?" and kinda glance up to see if I was still watching. Always liked hugs too.
CommonMerre
Sounds like the bestest boy. I’m so sorry for you loss.
