Been helping and taking care of my grandparents for months. My grandmother started to go down hill and was refusing to go to the doctors because of the national panic. The other day it was so bad fear or not we made her go by ambulance and the doctors said if we waited any longer she wouldn't have made it. Heart rate so low it was basically none existent and something about her thyroid that was causing organ damage. I'm hoping she'll be ok and I'll be able to see her again...

I kept her from getting sick but couldn't keep her healthy...

(Just venting)

You did right getting her to hospital. Please remember to take care of yourself too.

I feel for you. My grandmother passed last week after having shoulder surgery as a result of a fall. 2020 sucks.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

so sorry this happened. it's becoming evident this is not uncommon, unfortunately. Bless you & she & may she recover <3

Sending good wishes for your grandmother! Hope she gets well soon!

Areas afflicted with corona have 3x the typical deaths. It's unclear if this is occult covid or people disrupted from their healthcare.

Gurl you can not keep a person healthy. You did a good job by her. you are not responsible for her age or her health

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"I kept her from getting sick but couldn't keep her healthy..." Felt that.

My friend has chronic issues. She didn't want to be a burden, she didn't seek help cuz of the pandemic, ended up needing a blood transfusion.

The saying has been “don’t go in until you’re blue”

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I work for a clinic and have to tell people daily that it's okay to come in.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yep. And a lot of people with chronic conditions aren't going in for medication renewals out of fear.. thanks media.... :-/

5 years ago | Likes 59 Dislikes 29

Could they have handled it better? Sure! Are they the only ones responsible? Fucking no!! The ones searching easy explanations are at fault

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 4

The media didn't create the virus, or require the (entirely reasonable) response, or misreport the severity of the situation we are in.

5 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 5

good job making her go. we're all hoping she'll be okay too

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Woah woah woah , @op,. decisions with elders are complex. Her health is not your fault in any way. Feel sad, but don't beat yourself up.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My thyroid is a freeloader that contributes nothing. If my level is off I feel god awful and 0 energy. I hope your grandma is OK OP!!

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You did more for her than she could have done without your help and that's a win!

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Understandable, but remember, we will all be here with/for you, and sending our best thoughts, wishes, prayers, whatever we can think of.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My mom had emergency brain surgery 12 days ago. I’m grateful there was a bed in ICU for her. Couldn’t visit. So scary.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My nan just passed away. Being alone with no visitors for 6 weeks took its toll. Then in the last week she contracted covid. Life sucks.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

As a cancer patient, I can fully understand her fear.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My cousin (she's 94, mom's 1st cousin) had a stroke & thought the same. They ended up sending a stroke team to her house instead.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sorry to hear about your grandmother's condition. Bless you for being such a caring, thoughtful family member to someone who needs it.

I know I'm a mild case but I got the Rona last Saturday. Started with chills and shallow breathing. The next morning I had muscle soreness

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

With a sore throat and ear pain. On Monday, I felt a bit better with the muscle soreness but throat pain was still there. When I went to eat

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Breakfast, I realized I lost my sense of taste/smell. Today, I got a little of my taste back and muscle soreness is almost non-existent.

My father is battling aggressive cancer. He is going to his appointments and treatments. He's brave. I still fear he'll catch COVID.

5 years ago | Likes 68 Dislikes 0

Mine too, he was in hospital for chest infections after immunotherapy, I was so worried he'd catch covid

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'd be going too. Like, what do you have to lose at that point...

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

My father is in the same boat w/ Prostate Cancer. Still has to get blood checks but isolating himself in a less populated part of the state

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Idk about ur dads tx, but the hosp where my ma goes for tx (in ny) doesnt float oncology staff to covid floors to avoid exposing cancer pts

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Our infusion centers are separated from the main hospitals here in ATX.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's up to rest of us to keep him safe. I'm sorry a good number of the country are being fucktards right now, but I'm doing my part

5 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 1

I've left my house a total of two times in the past month. I could never forgive myself if my careless actions lead to the death of others.

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

The cancer center I go to is secluded and far away from all the Covid peeps. I hope it’s the same for your father

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I'm an ICU nurse working on the former oncology floor (now covid-icu). Not sure where all the cancer patients are going these days...

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

well please, do her a favor and visit her often. i spent a stupid amount of time in the hospital because i have heart problems

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

and i rarely got visitors. i at least had my computer and other things, but i was constantly afraid that someone would steal it.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

also, my room mate always got up and turned the a/c up to 85, which was causing me more problems. she may need someone to be a voice.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I hope she pulls through, OP.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Really hope she makes it. If she doesn’t, don’t let them record her as a COVID-19 death

5 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 20

Are you fucking serious?

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

This is a myth. Please don't spread disinformation. https://www.factcheck.org/2020/04/hospital-payments-and-the-covid-19-death-count/

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

It was confirmed when she got there she doesn't have it. If they do record it as one, I will flip a shit..

5 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 5

Of course they won't.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

I have a friend in Colorado who is fighting that battle right now with her husband who passed. Hospital recorded it as COVID-19

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 8

Strange, I've only heard anecdotal internet claims on this, and only from active right-wing posters. Nothing about confirmed instances.

5 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

If he didn't have it when he went in it's 1 of 2 things. It means they're either lying or they didn't keep him safe enough while there.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

He was never COVID positive

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 5

That doesn't mean he didn't have it. If he wasn't tested and died of symptoms suggesting COVID-19, then they are right to record it as such

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Well that only leaves one of those two options..

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How would you know the intimate medical details of a "friend in Colorado"

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hospitals can claim $5,000 to $39,000 from Medicaid/Medicare with each COVID patient they diagnose. Is she on Medicaid/Medicare?

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 7

Do you have a source for these claims?

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

This is what is fucking up the numbers i had a friend in Washington who's grandfather died of a rare cancer and they said covid killed him.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 5

Man, it is just so strange that this seems to keep happening to relatives of friends of Trump defenders, but there are no confirmed reports.

This isn't true.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

Isn’t it? They can’t claim an extra 20% on each diagnosed Medicare Covid patient? The CARES act doesn’t include this? It absolutely does.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

You're just saying that they get paid according to diagnosis. Like, do you suspect cancer rates are inflated too?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As an American over 45, you are more likely to die from not getting chest pain, stroke-like symptoms, or confusion evaluated than contractin

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Covid19 causes heart problems

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

contracting COVID in the ER. Much less dying of COVID. Sure hangnails and ankle sprains can wait. High risk chest pain shouldn't.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

An ankle sprain can't wait. It could be broken or seriously damaged, that's putting your future mobility on the line

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Risk assessment is the point. Likelihood of a sprained ankle or even fibula fracture you can walk on being a problem is low compared to ...

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Chest pain in a person over 45. Hence its not as unreasonable to avoid hospitals due to COVID concerns for the former. Just IMO as ER doc.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ankle fractures can get missed because some people can walk on them, it's good to go to the er if you think you have to, better safe than

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sorry. An ankle sprain isn't hogging up a bed, they'll even park you in the hallway if necessary.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You're missing the point. The point is a sprained ankle has very little mortality compared to undiagnosed cardiac disease. Therefore, it is
