So this is my car before I decided to tear it apart.. she looks okay on the outside. #pontiac #firebird #muscle_cars #carporn #project_cars #diy #restoration

And from this side...

There’s the power plant

So I pulled the motor cause I thought I had some bad seals...

Turns out I had some bad bearings too

Sitting outside not running for 10 years..

Better take that fender off to get the motor out.

May as well pull the front clip ??‍♂️

That’s a chunk missing from a rod bearing..

And that was one of the better cylinders

May as well keep going

I could paint this and put it back together..

Naaaa

Just needs a bath

It may look somewhat solid...

It’s not

Oh yea I dropped the rear end out too, he helped!

Sandblasted & painted

Oh dear. This is going downhill quickly.

Start cutting

And

Don’t stop till the floor drops!

I built the frame before the floor came out

If you’re judging please be kind, I have no idea what I’m doing

The frame rails were gone

Literally

Put in a whole new floor

New inner and out fender wells

New toe board

1/2 a new trunk pan

I meant to post one showing the complete front end.. it’s literally a brand new car mechanically.

2.5 years and the motor finally went to the dyno. I didn’t do the motor work.

She’s finally come home! 360 hp and 430 lbs torque.

Cars current state (minus the engine jack)

After playing over 10 hours of Car Mechanic Simulator 18 I could restore that car with my mouse. Nice job btw.

This reminded me of Bryan Cranston changing the lightbulb in Malcom In the Middle.

Love this. I'm near the end of a similar down-to-the-bare-tub rebuild of a 944T. Great to see another guy with the same brand of insanity.

@Bradbarian bro I feel for you.. at least parts are cheap & plentiful for an old Pontiac!

@406blazer sometimes I regret not doing a sbc or ls swap and then you come in and save the day. Gonna be worth it in the end!

Nice work. Refreshing to see an actual resto job posted and not one of those "look I washed it! It's restored" posts people praise lately.

@Zordicron tbh aesthetically I made it worse. Had to cut holes in rockers, rivets in fender wells. Mechanically, brand new!

For someone who doesn't know what he's doing, you're doing a fine job! Can't wait to see the finished product

Right on man awesome job. Don't you just love how projects start to snowball out of control, and quickly at that. My cars taking forever too

My 1970 Fastback Mustang is snowballing right now. Every layer you lift is a new nightmare.

That it is! My car sat outside for several years at a friends house. Been chasing wiring/electrical issues unfortunately, and I hate wiring!

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I stopped chasing the electrical gremlins and just put a whole new modern harness in it.

Awesome work but could have you waited until you done so I can see the end result or you expect me to find your update later
