As someone who grew up in Madison, Wisconsin in the 90's and a Packers fan for most of my life, I despise Brett Favre and was finally happy to be a Packers fan when he left the team. Never liked him as a kid, always seemed like a wanker. My dad (rip 2022) used to work at the Concourse Hotel downtown and always told me stories when he managed the Governor's Club about Chris Farley and Brett Favre coming in, and Favre almost getting him fired because BRETT lost his own sunglasses. Total douche.

Worked as a cashier at a supermarket one summer in college. One of the things that stuck with me was during a shift on the express lane register. A woman came through with a few items and after scanning, she pulled out her EBT booklet - this was when the cards were a thing but not yet common. The woman behind her saw it and started going off about how "Those shouldn't be allowed in the EXPRESS lane". Like it somehow added minutes to the transaction (it didn't). These people are out there...

People don’t understand EBT can only be used for certain products. When I worked at dollar tree the only items eligible for it were on a small section of half an aisle. Mainly canned foods and rice.

That’s not how it works in the state I live in at all. Certain foods aren’t eligible, like hot premade food, but anything cold snd edible is fair game.

I was on food stamps for awhile after my divorce, and I could use the EBT card to pay for almost anything in the grocery section of the supermarket, except alcohol and precooked deli food. Meat, produce, dairy, frozen food, boxed mixes, seasonings, breakfast food, snacks, all of it. You can buy Twinkies with EBT, even though they barely qualify as food.

Some retailers limit their EBT offerings due to their internal policies. It's usually a sign the company has right-leaning political alignment at the higher levels. Not always, though. Sometimes, it is due to the company not wanting to devote resources to the program.

Yeah here in Wisconsin you can use EBT for candy, food, soda, anything cold really. There used to be more limits back in the day like early 2000's you couldn't get energy drinks with them, but then years later they lifted those restrictions and folks were buying frozen lobster tails and other exotic foods with EBT. They put a stop to that a few years back and its a little more restricted now. Mostly you just don't get EBT because the State of WI barely gives out any money to people now.

He used to bring hookers and blow into the Governor's Club when my dad ran it in the 90's even though Favre was "happily married". Favre tried to get my dad fired because he lost his Oakleys or Ray-bans one night when Brett stumbled into the club drunk, my dad kept it to himself but passed on those stories to me. Brett proved he was an a-hole later with the whole welfare debacle.

Favre on the other hand is ACCUSED of getting about a $ MILLION from money set aside for the poorest of the poor in the poorest state, Mississippi.
