I had like 15 stuffed animals, 2 pillows and 2 blankets always on my bed as a kid. It was great. Best sleep I've ever had.

My kid had a lightup toothbrush, and kept hiding it in dark places. Then when the light stopped and we couldn't find it, 1/2
she'd throw a fit. Then the next night, the same thing again, only a different hiding place.

When I was young, for me it wasn't stuffed animals... It was toy cars. My parents tucked them in blankets at night and everything.

When I was little I worried about any of my stuffed animals feeling left out. They were either all on the bed or took turns.
He has his main 3 that follow him around the house (or when he decides he wants to sleep with my wife on the nights I work and she don't).
But yeah, he doesn't want his critters to feel left out.
