no, he is trying to attack the EMT. it is very common. medical staff get hit a lot.

Realtalk: what would happen if you did? Do you think this vid was staged or f’real? Is this what shit looks like sometimes??

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Also, yes. It’s be like that sometimes. Not often. But occasionally.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Full investigation happens, but usually by the time a medic hits you there isn’t much argument as to whether you deserved it or not.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I can’t tell if the video is real or staged, but yes, this is a thing that happens. Not often, but people do get combative...

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

...drugs and alcohol fuel a lot of violence. people with head injuries or post seizure go into fight or flight mode...

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If I punched a patient while defending myself, probably no big deal. But if I hit someone without provocation that’d be very bad.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Naloxone is one hell of an anti drug. You either wake violent, puke, fine, not at all

5 years ago | Likes 811 Dislikes 4

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Pretty amazing stuff though.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

We used to give a bolus now it’s titrated to avoid a violent wake up. Punching the dude in the nuts b4 admin takes the fight out of him too

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It’s called “the Narcan ball punch” and it works. Not saying it’s nice but he wakes up and his eyes get big and he doubles up. Just sayin.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Kudos to the medic administering the shot.... She aspirated just to make sure it was an IM and not IV injection

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It also sends you straight into a violent withdrawal which is agonizingly unpleasant.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

And you are shit out of luck if the heroin was part of a speedball. Nothing like snapping out an addict, in withdrawl, on cocaine.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Did a stint as an EMT. First time seeing it hit someone's system was wild. I was 265lbs, the patient 150ish. Could barely hold him down.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Sometimes you wake up with a curiously sore jaw.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I don’t think that was Naloxone

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

He's taking a ride on the van.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

They're saying the naloxone caused the response. They knocked him the fuck out after.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

So? I also usually wake up in one of those 4 states. Mostly the third one though.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Then you’re giving it wrong-point isn’t to wake them up. Titrate to respirations. Little bit at a time. Zonked but breathing is just fine.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In my experience, most wake up with an immediate withdrawal, and just want more, and will stab you for it.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

We don’t generally want to give them enough to wake them up, just keep them breathing until they get to the hospital.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

"Respiration not conversation" is the way

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Bingo! Give half the dose, and dump the other half dose as you pull into the ER bay.

I got training with naloxone when I got hired as a college teacher. Fun stuff!

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What the fuck..... the necessity of that training for you especially makes me sad :(

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 66 Dislikes 0

Friends a fire chief. Says they hate naloxone calls cause they're so violent many times.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I hear the too fat to get off the toilet calls are pretty bad too.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I thankfully never had to get the shot, but back when I was still using I was also getting a prescription for suboxone (which has naloxone /

5 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

In it) and on the days I couldn't score I would take one and it always sent me into concentrated withdrawal for a couple hours. I couldn't/

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Interestingly, it's actually the buprenorphine that put you in withdrawal. Naloxone isn't absorbed so only works if you inject or snort it.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If that's the case, suboxone is taken sublingual so why would it even be in there?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Stop people from injecting it to get high. Bup is a partial opiate so IV will get you high unless you have full opiate (heroin) in your body

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Imagine what it would be like to get a shot of it. Ugh.

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

That’s what happens if you take them too early have to wait 24-26 hours since last dose I had it happen too and narcan not fun wake up lost

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh yeah I know. But I looked at it as "a couple hours feeling REALLY bad, or a couple days feeling bad" so...

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I uasd to take them recreationally for an opiate like buzz. Got them from a co worker in exchange for rides to work.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Suboxone is an opiate...

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah they can definitely do that lol. There was one month I ran out early (I had pancreatitis and every time I tried to take one the taste /

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 1

5 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

Narcanned auto-correct lol

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Nono, go with narrated. Much better outcome

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Its only violent if the provider doesnt know how to use it. You give enough nalaxone to start them breathing. Never a full dose to wake up

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Yep and when you find someone unresponsive what exactly is that dose? Hmmmm?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

You usually start with 0.1mg and titrate up until breathing starts by it self Nalaxone works fast so you can give it incrementaly

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Most people around 0.3mg starts breathing on their own. This is IV tho Nasal Spray is a lot harder to control the dose

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 13

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Yes, contracting hepatitis from punching someone in the teeth is FAKE!!1

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 8

That would be tough to do on a right hook. Look at the rotation of the head - the hit was from the side.

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Do you honestly think this individual made a calculation on head rotation and mouth/teeth placement before he swung his fist? Really?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 22

What he did was morally fine, protecting his college, but he made a major blunder using his fist, exposing himself to needless danger.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 21

As a medicinal practitioner, do NOT hit in the face. You WILL contract diseases BECAUSE faces contain sharp appendages that will puncture.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 13

If he knew what he was doing, he probably chose that punch because head rotation causes unconsciousness with less damage than frontal blows.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1
