A few weeks ago a pilonidal abscess appeared (abscess located in between the top of my butt cheeks) it was quite painful indeed and I was told by my GP if it hasn’t burst, they will need to perform surgery. Eventually it became huge and they had to perform the surgery.

When I went to the hospital there was a 3 hour wait in emergency, the nurse gave me medicine in order to help my severe pain and discomfort. However, it lead to me feeling extremely nauseous and vomiting 7 times. Eventually, over the next couple of days I finally got surgery and was discharged from the hospital. Had to wear a huge bandage over my ass for a couple of weeks. Over these couple of weeks I was shitting at least 5 times a day and I couldn’t eat a meal without it coming straight out in the form of liquid. I had to walk to my GP in the boiling sun every day and feeling quite uncomfortable. However, I respect my GP a lot so I didn’t mind walking there. Until, the 3rd of March. I felt some pain coming from the surgical wound, which was odd due to how well it was healing and it should’ve started the final stage. My girlfriend checked it and there was puss coming from the wound which made us believe it was infected. Hours later while resting I felt my face suddenly heat up it felt like it was on fire and I needed to vomit when I gained the strength to get up I almost fainted and went back to bed. The next day I went to the GP but woke up with pain that was worse than the abscess itself. Turns out it’s not infected and there’s excess tissue which has started growing and my GP has no clue when it will stop. I’m still in horrendous pain till this day and without extremely strong painkillers I’m unable to move, sit or even lie down properly. Sorry for the long read I felt like I needed to get the fact that I wished for surgery in order to “look cool” of my chest.
TLDR: Got abscess. Wished for surgery to look cool. Now suffering from some of the worst pain of my life.

I’m confused- did you think the scar would look cool? Or it’s cool to say you had surgery?

@op if your doctor is giving you narcotics for more than a few days then find a new doctor.

Just had surgery for the first time last week. Only bad thing is not having to work for like 2 weeks. Now I got metal plates in my wrist.

Couldn’t have found a more relatable story.

I had hemorrhoids removed. Sounds about the same. It gets better. Stool softeners ftw. Doctor told me "just remember who fixed your ass"

Sounds horrible man, hope all is well now.

I feel your pain. Almost. No surgery yet for me. Too expensive. Have to keep getting shots in the tailbone and have it drained. No bueno.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Shit. Sounds horrible I would not want to go through that.

Does your ass look cool at least now tho?

Can barely see my ass with this bandage covering it haha.

surgery? 7 ops and finally on the 8th we asked them to take the leg off. Getting rid of chronic pain is good

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Holy shit, that seems horrible, I honestly wish you all the best!

Shit, why didn't I read your comment first...

As some who's had several surgeries I can tell you it's never cool. I haven't had the horrible experience you're having, but it sucks. 1/2

I hope you heal up quick and the pain stops. Recovery is sometimes worse than the problem it seems. I wish you the best.

Thank you for the kind words mate, I honestly feel for anyone who’s had more than one surgery I hope all is well with you.

Pilonidal Cysts are a tricky business. If they don’t get all of it, it’ll just come back. Not sure what the skin growth is all about though.

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yes I was quite confused bout the skin growth problem he didn’t really clarify, I’m going again today. He said the surgeon might have to 1/2

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

2/2 Look at it and I’m praying I don’t have surgery again.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Might end up cauterizing it. That's what they tried for my brother in law, but it still came back!

I had one. It felt like I broke my tailbone, until the Dr explained what it was. It bursted on its own and healed...but I fear it's return..

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Did it ever return?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How does surgery make one look cool? (Disregarding cosmetic surgery designed for that very purpose).

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Tbh man Idk what I was thinking prior, being able to say “I went through surgery” seemed to have like a thrill aspect but now I went 1/2

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

2/2 Through it I never wish to go through it again and I realise how much of a dumbass I was.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Well, at least now you get to say "I went through painful surgery" ;-)
