Picked turtles when I was five, about 40 years ago.

Not for one moment have I changed my mind or regretted it.

That's what all the women in my family did for my nieces, but with cartoons.

So I bought the girls educational toys.

I like dags. D'ya like dags?

Don't get started beekeeping unless you want your house decorated with bee nicknacks. You won't bee-lieve many bee puns there are.

Doesn't have to happen when you're 5. A cow stepped on me in 2001, and 24 years later...

Picked favorite animal, grew up on Disney, became a furry

I always loved penguins. Of course I got the penguins stuffed animals, ceramic figurines, etc... Now, at 46 years old, I got a job at a school where the mascot is a penguin, which I think is pretty neat.

I used to say "African Animals". that got me a plethora of items!

She has made a fine choice.

I went with bears and I'm ok with that choice.

How sweet. Her first cell phone will be pre-programmed with all of the duck you's, duck off, duck my life, and, when they want to be sweet and share one of her ducks..... she can drop an efficient duck you.

Now everyone gets a duck! One could say that we are all very ducked up around here.

My phone has learned that I almost never mean to write duck. When I try to write duck, (like now , LoL) my phone thinks I mean ‘fuck’. It used to be the opposite.

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

@OP, those ducks... are they mighty?

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Or are they the terror that flaps in the night?

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

also applies to favorite colors, nicknames. because at some arbitrary point, you run out of respecs until newgame+

Went to college with 3 sisters, piggie, duckie, and moo. Guess what they each liked. Baby brother was nick named moose.

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yup! I’ve loved all wild cats since I got my first stuffed tiger. I still love getting presents with various big cats on them!

Hehehe yeah, this is so true! My son likes dinosaurs, and now everything is dinosaurs

My mum has a house full of ceramic pigs for this reason. Through Stockholm Syndrome she now likes pigs.

Or you need to pick an animal that's only very rarely depicted on items.

9 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Mine was newts and salamanders. After 30yrs I think they are finally getting some love. Well at least Axolotls are.... still not as cool as the green salamander or red eft newt.

9 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Unless you have a morphed Axolotl. Those are really rare and cool, too.

I was a Linux Administrator for an engineering company years ago and had a stuffed Tux the penguin on my desk as well as a couple of other penguin-related items. Within a year there were penguins everywhere.

We also limit kids thinking that they always have to have favorite for everything. It's ok to enjoy many things, and it's ok to enjoy variety itself.

9 months ago | Likes 151 Dislikes 3

Variety is the 'star spice' for life.

9 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm not sure that excuse will work on the wife

9 months ago | Likes 40 Dislikes 2

And it's ok to have a solid fav too

9 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

Mine likes goats because of goat simulator

9 months ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 0

Coffee Stain Studis ftw.

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do they play as a microwave? Or a "fast goat"?

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

9 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Ma! They're stimulating the goats again!

9 months ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Unicorns or cats seem like the safer choices :-)

9 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Were you a Lisa Frank kid?

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sorry no, I think I'm missing a reference there - probably because I am not American or British :-)

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

no pressure

9 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I liked unicorns but by the time I was 11 it was too much

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So... cats?

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was bunnies as a kid. In my teens it was dragons. Now in my 40s I'm a brilliantly horrific chimera of both. :D Am I cute and cuddly, or fiercely fiery?? Which do I feel like today???

9 months ago | Likes 95 Dislikes 5

My daughter is in the bunny stage. I will remind her that dragons are always an option!

9 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Bunnies and dinosaurs for me. I'll never get to have that pet parasaurolophus, but Hacksaw more than makes up for it.

9 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Hacksawwwww! Big fan!

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why not both?

9 months ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 0

yayyyy

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That is awesome! Is it yours?

9 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Nope, sorry ^_^" It was posted by one Natalie Long on Pinterest; not sure if she's the original artist.

9 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Only differences between rabbits and dragons: size, scales amd wings- the attitudes and ability to breathe fire are the same.

9 months ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 6

I too chose bunnies. Still do. 🐇

Gemini, by chance? That completely encapsulates my daughter’s personality.

I picked cat and it was the right choice 😎

9 months ago | Likes 310 Dislikes 4

My girls daughter said an elephant. And her favourite colour is red. I have a 3d printer.

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I picked foxes. Just turned 37 and still love getting them.

9 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I picked goats, and now my house looks vaguely Satanic because of all the goat statues and paintings I've gotten over the years. I stand by it.

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I chose Panda I'm over 30 and my Mum brought be a 4 foot panda this year for my bday.

9 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Your mum is a top lady!

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My kids, now in their thirties, get a unique Yule tree ornament every year in a theme they chose as preschoolers. Eldest picked "cats". I did offer, as she turned 18, to shift it to something else. She threatened my existence if I ever changed it. Cat is always the right choice!

9 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It's actually a great idea to ask your kid about it, since some kids might feel too awkward to bring it up unpromted
