How could someone possibly just walk right past that?

Is this heaven?

Yeah, no, I ain't petting any dog that isn't mine. Dogs are still animals and if I scare it, unintentionally, it can bite (completely understood too, I'm a stranger).

"Yeah, boss, I'm going to be late coming in. I have to pet this dog."

I love the name Tubs.

Lol I call my cat Mr. Tubs.

I would be late for work every day!

Home insurance won’t let us have any kind of dog like this.

I've seen scars from dog bites on people that were told the dog was friendly. I'm not touching a dog I don't know, unless the owner has control. Honestly would probably even steer clear of that sidewalk as that fence is not stopping anything.

I'm in love with Tubs. She knows pets are coming and her sign works. Love the tail wag!

If your dog is friendly, I am 100% going to pet it, and like 94% if it's not.

Allergies. The answer is allergies. @Interleaver11111111

Allergies or trauma due to a bad experience in childhood. Contrary to what the internet would have you believe, not everyone loves dogs.

Without the sign, I wouldn't pet. Some dogs appear friendly but are protective of their territory. That could be home or car.

ahhhh yisss scritches

I like his collar

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

She better be careful, she might sprain her tail wagging that hard

2 years ago | Likes 81 Dislikes 4

My dog sprained her tail as well. It was almost 2 weeks of healing and a totally droopy tail before she was back to her happy self.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My in-laws labbo spent a week swimming and when he came over he let out the biggest yowl I've ever heard and just laid down. He had swimmers tail and got too excited to see us and sprained his tail again. Poor guy just wanted to say hi

That’s a real, tangible issue with pitties. They either wag their tails so hard it can cause sprains, or they smack it against walls and other hard surfaces and fracture it.

Plot twist: That's NOT Tubs

Growing up, there was a German Shepherd named Bandit next to one of my friend's houses. Bandit was a mean bastard that would hop up on the fence and bark at anyone walking by. One day a ball went in the yard and one of the kids hopped in without a thought to grab it. We were shocked, until later when Bandit came out and received a thorough petting from him. Turns out Bandit was a glutton for petting but just had no idea how to sound friendly when asking for it. Pet him all the time afterwards.

We had a gsd that would bark so much that mom would put the spare key on his collar because nobody would go near him. He was the gentlest dog ever, but dog damn he was loud.

But watch out for Crocket, he'll bite your hand off.

Naahhhh, he'll let his pet alligator do that.

I simpathyse and I can see she's absolutely adorable. But personally i'd walk past. Why? I got mauled by a smaller dog when i was 9 or 10. It was friendly until later the same day when it jumped me and bit and scratched me. I have some PTSD, and since I know pitbulls can be ferocious I am always uneasy around them, or rather any dog that has a reputation. If I know for sure it's not going to attack me then sure. But any dog charging in my direction usually makes me freeze in place.

also when i say smaller? prolly smaller than a pitbull but still enough to cause damage to overtly friendly with dogs me.

Physically impossible to resist

I am decidedly *not* a dog person, but looking at that face and waggy tail, I would definitely stop and be all like, "Who's a goob-a-goob! Who's a handsome squishy facey-face awoo! Who's a poopy-doob-a-doob! Urr durr durr durr!" As I pet the everliving shit out of that pupper-dupper.

The only reason I would like a house in an area with lots of foot traffic is so my pitbull could make friends all day. She just loves everyone.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It is a pit bull, and without the sign, I'd probably keep my hands away. With the sign, I'd open up slightly.

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 12

Pit bulls are quite sweet, they just got a bad name because terrible people wanted them. You should treat all dogs with some caution, but this dog is obviously quite friendly.

2 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 3

No this dog is obviously dangerous, if you get too close you'd surely get your legs shredded by that weed whacker of a tail (worth it)

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

it's nice to live in a neighborhood where you don't need to worry about your overly friendly dog being stolen

2 years ago | Likes 159 Dislikes 4

Or switched with an underly friendly dog

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

My first thought. I have a super friendly pitbull, who would happily climb in the car with anyone who pulled up. He's a house dog that doesn't get to go outside without supervision.

Woah

or shot =/

2 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

or even your delicately balanced sign being knocked over? this whole thing is so precious

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

The first one that walked right past seems to be walking their own dog and would rather not give out the wrong signal to their dog perhaps?

2 years ago | Likes 259 Dislikes 5

I don't pet dogs that are not friends of my dog when walking it. Everything could happen

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"You're the only dog in my life and I only have eyes for you."

2 years ago | Likes 40 Dislikes 1

Yeah they might be discouraging fence standing like that. If you got a bad fence a dog can easily take it down.

2 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

If you have a fence that short a Pibble could clear it easily if it wanted to. She's probably been trained not to escape

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah but the person walking their dog might be discouraging their dog from standing on the fence like that, so they dont want their dog to see them reawrding other dogs for behaviour they are trying to discourage

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Makes sense

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Allergies prevent me from petting random dogs. Or even dogs I know. Neighbor's pitty is the sweetest dog but if she licks me (and she always licks) I get a rash within minutes. I feel bad that I had to stop giving her pets.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Allergies, and also some people don't like or are afraid of dogs. All valid reasons to not pet a strange dog.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

germs :/ i love u, ur a precious baby, but ur also very dirty

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I'm not sure if I have ever pet a dog that I didn't need to wash my hands after. Not like "oh, my hands feel dirty" but like, there was a layer of grime on my hands I could see. I don't think people realize how dirty their dogs are when they let them run around outside all the time.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Some people see a Pit Bull and just automatically assume it is dangerous.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 8

I literally have the opposite assumption. I test waters of course, but every Pibble I’ve ever met was friendly and hyper. That fear is generated by media reporting the outliers as the status quo.

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 7

I agree. I was just watching this video thinking what I would do in this situation. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Ujt4KimW9mc

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 5

They do seem to have a higher number of outliers than other breeds

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

My step daughter had her lips ripped off by a pit, but I guess you’ve been lucky.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 8

My friend had the bones in her hand broken by a bite from a lab, I guess everyone with labs has been lucky too. I am sorry about your stepdaughter though, that’s a horrible thing to happen.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Yes if they are bred to unlock their jaws and kill other beings. Is that how labs are?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

As I said, there are breeds that are much more aggressive than pit bulls and far more often, but they don’t do as much damage when they bite/attack so they don’t get reported for it. Had to take a friend to the hospital for a Dachshund bite (one of the MOST “bitey” breeds), she didn’t report it.
