He's not wrong

Yeah, and pack an old, clunky computer and keep it running to stay warm.

Yellowknife is a better option. They have Wifi there.

How to code: 1. Type in google: your language of choice + problem 2. Click 1st StackOverflow link 3. Copy 1st answer like a fucking lazy bum

you forgot about changing variables to suit your code. if you do this you will be 100x better than random pajeet.

Codewars.com is pretty good. :)

Just pick an ultra lightweight language like Scheme or something

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or Lua

Yeah 6 month will be enough for the basics.

9 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 11

Nah. It took me from 0 to Java standalone apps with backends in a few months and I'm pretty thick. It just takes a driving passion to learn.

Not too sure why you are being down voted. Would be nice if they could he bothered to argue against your point.

6 months? If you're actually highly dedicated and put in an hour a day, you could get pretty damn good in like 3-4 months. Most courses (1)

at post secondaries require a similar workload and can get you going at a basic competency level in a similar time frame (2).

I agree if it's about implementing, but to learn to come up with good solutions for new or complex problems takes more experience.

I completed an entire Uni assignment in C++ in 3 hours. Thank god for Google and programming friends.

You mean you cheated?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But then you get to the assignments where you gotta process complex data using externals, and foreign functions.

And what about the last .2 hours?

Throw exception: Can you count to potato?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That must have been really short assignment... My current uni assignment took about 3 weeks of work for 3 people so far.. still not complete

It was a simple write up of a text based adventure game, I went a bit Elder Scrolls'y with the story and well... got a good grade at least.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah that would have taken me 30 minutes tops but i remember learning for the first time I would take hours to simple assignments

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So, you learned nothing. All considered, programming isn't for everyone and I understand that. Me? I love it.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well considering I'm using Vulkan along with glfw and GLM to make a 3d renderer in my spare time I'd say I learnt quite a bit

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Within the context, it sounded like it was a copy-paste job. I'm used to most people hating programming & do what they can to get out of it.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah I'm the complete opposite, otherwise I wouldn't have gone for a class and job in programming.

i walked into my C++ practical exam drunk off my ass and was first to compile and pass. the TAs were visibly upset, but couldn't even argue.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

nah. i took coding in hs, and the uni class was just a rehash. the 3 hour break at noon before the lab time didn't help much.

I know that as soon as I reach for my ol' buddy Jack, I minimize the IDE and pull up Steam. I don't even try to program. It's like picking >
