Driving is easy, you just have to be aware of your surroundings and react accordingly. Most accidents are caused by inattentive people.

Here you train night-time driving either on simulator or irl, depending on time of the year.

Depends on where you're at. Back home in the country, it gets pitch black and there are also a lot of big animals crossing roads.

I can understand if it's late, going down a 2 lane rd with little light, but switch it off for oncoming cars instead of blinding people

They're useful in the middle of nowhere. They're redundant in the middle of cities.

When it's really dark it helps you spot things like moose easier.

When they switch to high beams after I flash the lights go OVER my eyes.

Yeah well trucks do have powerful lights, I often think they have their high beams on until I see them switch them on and it's a second sun

Unlit roads (common outside of cities) really need the extra light to be able to see hazards. Like deer. Or large rocks.
