Such a weird way to show how to remove someone. I've used Photoshop for years and there's no tool to just brush an object out like that. They either edited it before hand and just added the guy back on a new layer, or just added him in from another image and faked the whole thing
Because he was never there. He's been reversed when in the background and the perspective and lighting is wrong. You can tell he came from a different photograph.
Sure it's possible to fabricate a background. But it's easier if there was never anything blocking it in the first place. Lol. It's just bullshit video for quick Internet points
Normally, your primary tool is clone stamp. It copies one part of an image to another, and as you move the tool, it moves the source. Copy a fill from multiple other parts of the photo with matching color and lighting to fill the space behind, and do some some hand-editing to clean up the blur or blend the hard lines (however you personally do it) at the edge of the tool use, so it doesn't look like there's a transition.
There's a lot more to it of course, but you know, in broad strokes that's your go-to. There are a lot of step-by-step tutorials on exactly this, that are free, so if you're interested there is a lot of material to go into more depth.
Yeah definitely, whoever made this needs to remember that something like the stamp or 'fix' tool needs to be used to 'extend' the railing behind the image you're cutting out.
We have a whole image department whose job it was to do stuff like this. Half of them have been laid off because they are not needed anymore. Luckily this isn't my core job but I do have to touch up images every now and again.
I'll be honest, I don't think it's a bad thing that what used to be a technical skill is now accessible to more people. Layoffs suck, but we shouldn't keep unnecessary jobs around for the sake of having jobs
Yeah, back in the late 90's I became an IT Tech. I used to work for multiple agencies, driving all around the entire Los Angeles county going from shop to house to industrial plant. No one needs that anymore, everyone just lets people take over their desktop. My entire job basically doesn't exist anymore, the break fix tech guy can't make the money he used too. Thats how tech and advancement works, the horse shoe guys lost money when the car became popular etc.
Yeah. It's normal, just painful when it happens quickly. And it's happening very quickly right now! And in the past, it seems to me that it was mostly the less skilled, lower-paid professions that were most often going away. (I'm sure there are exceptions) Now though there are so many highly skilled, trained, and creative careers under threat. Illustrators, radiologists, analysts, writers, etc. People who really put a lot of effort into building what they thought would be successful careers.
I have a friend who made a living being a translator, one of those liberals during the Bush era's who "if you don't like it, then get out of here" was advice he took and moved to Sweden. Started a family and now his entire profession (he knew so many languages) is done, he's doing fine because all the training to get him to that point didn't just teach him language. Like how college doesn't just teach the subject, it builds skillsets you can use outside.
Of course, like myself, its shitty when this happens. I think the fast push is the investor move, AI can't handle a lot of stuff alone (anything alone really) so Radiologists just get a new tool, Illustrators get a new tool, Writers get a new tool, etc. Of course some of them will go out, like how I didn't branch into being a guy who remotes in. I enlisted and looked for other opportunities when in 2008 all the tech jobs were swamped with more experienced people.

Excellent!!

I'd bet my life savings he was photoshopped in at the start. Fake videos can be good but this was just kinda dumb.

I had a feeling, as suddenly he is being erased and poof perfect river scenery. I also noticed the lighting was off too.

Photoshop now supports generative ai (dun dun dun)
CycloneSP
yeah, but photoshopping images like this has been a thing long before ai was around.
zagibu
Not like shown, no. The end result can certainly be done, but it's a lot more work than what is shown.
SisyphusRollin
Isn't it cool that tech advances and makes things that used to be a lot more work, less work?
CycloneSP
yeah, but what's shown is just them erasing an image that's on a separate layer. they already did the photoshopping before they started recording
jlist
Ain't no way AI tools erased that this accurately. I think there were already layers set up for this video.
Harm
They printed the original pic without him, cut and glued him form another, scan the assembly, then filter him out. Just like in the old days.
Agouti
100% he was photoshopped in there to begin with.
Scobragon
It's just being funny with layers and eraser for theatrical effect.
cousteau
My guess is they photoshopped him out, then added a layer on top with the original photo and erased it to reveal the photoshopped one.
Ivain
Yeah definitely, whoever made this needs to remember that something like the stamp or 'fix' tool needs to be used to 'extend' the railing behind the image you're cutting out.
cytherians
I agree. It's so easy to use an ERASE tool to reveal the layer underneath that doesn't have the man there.
Venona
Welcome to the joke.
michiyl
The edit was done first, then the video was recorded where a copy of the guy in the background got erased/hidden via mask. There's no such tool in PS.
TheVillageGrouch9000
Agreed. Second layer removal is easy peasy.
WhoReadsPeoplesUsernamesAnyway
It's literally just the eraser, not clone stamp
AllMaktAtTengilVarBefriare
No one even mentioned AI lol
Sphinct182
How do you think a photo editing tool would, let's say, "generate" an... Artificial? Background behind an existing image... Intelligently?
AllMaktAtTengilVarBefriare
Not with a brush tool like this.
Magpiebones
It's obviously playing with lauers in editing software, not genAI.
SinisterSlaw
This used to require skill. The photoshop AI processes do most the work now.
TonyDiethelm
News Flash, this video is not actually a real video of real work, they faked it for the video. You are bad at media literacy.
Scobragon
It's less about faking it, and more about adding theatricality to it.
SisyphusRollin
Aint technology awesome! It makes difficult things easier.
