I propose, that while he is still with us, we informally declare our intent to make October 1st - "Jimmy Carter Day" starting in 2025. Perhaps Kamala and Walz could mention it, so that Jimmy hears about it before he passes on, and plan to make it official during his inevitable wake. -BygByte

You seen that video of then wheeling him out to watch a flyover during his bday?.... that man is no longer with us

Carter was way better than the right claims. He is amazing and saint like and I don't believe in God.

Why October 1st? Any particular reason that day?

It's his birthday. He just turned 100.

October 1st is also "International Day of Older Persons: This is an international observance that was established by the United Nations in 1990 to recognize the contributions and achievements of older persons around the world. -Groq

That’s a stupid thing to exist.

For a split second I thought he had died; thank goodness he's still with us.

Yeah, don't scare me like that...

Jimmy Carter lives in a swing state (Georgia) that was a lynch pin in 2020. Carter staying alive so just to keep Trump away from the presidency may just ensure that Georgia doesn't go to Trump and could determine the election

^ linch pin. With a Y it's a quite worse thing.

Carter has already voted absentee. Whether his vote would be counted should he die before November 5 is unclear (It varies by state, and only half of US states have declared rules either way, and Georgia is not one of them). Either way, I'm rooting for the guy to live to see Kamala sworn in, assuming that's what he wants.

What I mean is that Carter fought the grim reaper just to make sure Trump doesnt get in office. His vote is one vote. Hopefully his message hits thousands of voters who will be inspired to head to the polls.

So, when i was a kid we had two holidays, Lincoln's Birthday and Washington's Birthday... and then they combined them (because companies get sad when their employees get a day off).

My mom's birthday is the same as Washington's, and she told me she loved when she was a kid and got out of school on her birthday. She was bummed when the holidays were combined.

Must protect rich people's yacht money

Also how dare they have birthdays so close to each other.

As much as I think he did amazing things, I'd much rather our holidays canonize ideals and not people. We get burned too often.

Teddy Roosevelt Day? Everyone gets shot and has to act like it's nothing.

My grandad was a friend of his. He said Jim was one of the best Christians he'd ever met. He was kind and helping and not afraid to let go of his ego.

You think Carter is gonna get Milkshake Duck'd?

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Nope. But I would like to see us celebrate ideals. Focus on ideals to strive to. Celebrate those that personified it well, sure...

How about "habitat for humanity" day where it's a day of service helping those who can't get homes for themselves?

You mean, Everyone in this market?

That would be great. Eventually I would love to see an expansion of the Army Corp of Engineers to build housing when cities/towns need it. Bypass for profit developers.

So far as I know the Corps of Engineers does do this. A development went up near me recently that was a co-op between HFH and ACE. Prices were like 1/8th market price but there were very strict income requirements. Even then they got so many applicants they had to do a lottery draw for them.
