[Good evening, Imgurians.

Well, needless to say, I'm still kind of digesting everything that has transpired over the last few days.

I only want to clear up a few points in this album, and perhaps I'll revisit the story in more detail later on in the week. I really just want to be done with it, since it has consumed me for the last 4 or 5 days. However, I did say I would follow up even if the video turned out to be fake.

We did the right thing.

It's so easy and so unfair to say now, "TOLD YA SO!" I don't care what anyone says, we did the right thing. I never entertained the superficial argument of the video's authenticity; that's been ongoing since it became viral MONTHS ago. My entire position since I unraveled this story was to build a case for it to be investigated. Although I was fascinated with its sudden twist that briefly linked it to a 7 year long cold case, I continued to maintain an indifferent opinion about its origin and only hoped for the best. ]

***The above statement was made only hours after the ANPD determined the Walter video was unrelated to Kayla Berg.

EDITED AND UPDATED:

I want to point out that I don't really have anything to gain by this story, and did not pursue any type of gain either once the investigation took off. I'm not a professional writer, nor am I professionally affiliated with Imgur. I'm just a guy that writes stories for free on an internet website as a hobby, and I've made that clear to both law enforcement and Kayla's family.

The initial album WAS intended to "whore" internet points and play the game of Imgur. It was a compilation of scary/creepy content off YouTube and the internet. I do pride myself on the research and writing that goes into presenting these stories. I always try to go a step above in my content because I'm honestly fascinated with the macabre, and I enjoy writing about it.

The connection I drew between Kayla and the Walter video were originally intended to speculate on if there was more to this mysterious video, and it made for a compelling story. Nobody that saw the story could tell me that it didn't create some cause for it to be investigated, at the very least. I stand by that statement wholeheartedly.

When I made the now infamous album, I did so with legit concern, but I was not entirely convinced that it was a lead until a massive outpouring of people urged me to contact the authorities not once, BUT TWICE, or once per post dealing with the topic. I admit that I got swept up in the hysteria and made some very obvious mistakes, mainly in creating this potentially dangerous mob.

To Imgur:

I want to apologize to the staff at Imgur and the Imgur community for dragging them through this entire ordeal. It was irresponsible to drum up all this attention, and I hope it hasn't tarnished the reputation of the website or it's staff. The staff at Imgur work hard to give us this space to share our content. I also want to commend Imgur on their willingness to help, when we all thought someone was in peril, even though my suspicions were mistaken.

To 2150studios:

The actor and actress involved in the video were identified late last night, and the authorities have determined they are not related to Kayla Berg in any way. They released a statement on their Facebook page saying they were never going to pick up a camera again, and they have since removed their content from YouTube. Their YouTube channel was filled with entertaining and amusing videos, and showed a lot of good talent and potential. I want to apologize to them and I urge them to never give up on their passions in life and to continue their work. 2150studios has asked me to remove their likeness from my posts, and I have. They also asked me to convey this message: http://imgur.com/Wi6t8wh

UPDATE:

This is an official statement by 2150studios: http://imgur.com/gallery/pYY3r
They expressed a deep remorse for the turmoil the video has caused Kayla's family, and wish to use the attention the story has garnered to spread Kayla's story. They requested of me to post their official statement in a specific format, and I will continue to help them where ever I can.

Please do not harass or pursue ANYONE that was named in the investigation. It was never my intention for innocent people o be harassed or assaulted.

EDITED AND UPDATED:

The above image is the official statement from the Antigo police department. They became involved when I linked Kayla Berg to the viral video and essentially uprooted a 7 year long cold case. The detective I spoke to said that their community had been put through a lot; perhaps no one has been through more than Kayla's mother, Hope.

This whole ordeal caused Hope and her family a lot of distress. I truly feel terrible about that, and that's the one thing I regret the most out of everything that has happened. I couldn't even imagine what it must've felt like to watch that video and see a girl that could've been her daughter in some insane, harrowing situation. For that, I'm truly sorry.

I hope that at the very least, the amount of press that Kayla got over the weekend and the past couple of days might offset some of that pain, and perhaps new leads will flourish.

With that said, Imgurians, I still feel like a complete asshole for causing all this. Just know, that it came from genuine concern. I want to thank EVERYONE who answered the call when we thought somebody was in peril. The state of the outcome is subjective, you take what you want from it. You guys have shown how powerful Imgur really is, and how big of a heart the community really has. For that I am truly humbled and honored to be among you, and hope that I can continue to submit my content.

Thank you.

No you caved to mass hysteria... as usual. Congratulations. You got played etc..

Oh thank God it was fake...

9 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 2

This isn't an apology, this is a half assed excuse post. If you were concerned, you should have just alerted authorities instead of imgur.

9 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 1

Why the hell demand other people do stuff when you were wrong, that actor dude doesn't owe anyone shit.

9 years ago | Likes 114 Dislikes 10

The only one that owes people shit here is the @OP owing the actors and Kayla's loved ones apologies for his fuck-up.

9 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 2

Stop sucking your own dick. The leaps of logic you had to do to connect the video to the missing persons case was tremendous.

9 years ago | Likes 197 Dislikes 21

reading the post originally it all sounded so contrived.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Amateur Reddit detectives finger the wrong man once again. Bravo. You guys are really on a roll.

9 years ago | Likes 56 Dislikes 7

Technically it's the right man, but wrong reason.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 15

What the flying fuck does that mean?

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I am utterly lost, what have I missed?

9 years ago | Likes 149 Dislikes 3

@OP ruined people's lives.

Imgur's mighty autism brigade held hands and signal boosted a bunch of bullshit for good boy points.

Could we maybe not equate mob justice and autism? Us autists would really like that. K thanx.

Just remember next time if you see something, contact the police. Innocent until proven guilty. OP maybe remove the guy from your old post

9 years ago | Likes 378 Dislikes 18

He did contact the police.. He just happened to put it on Imgur first and some people convinced him to contact the police/FBI.

9 years ago | Likes 90 Dislikes 25

In other words, he DID NOT contact the police first or intend to untit he was pressured to call the police by others

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 3

Yeah, they mean contact the cops first and not play junior detective on social media at all.

@OP I think you had the right intentions but let's be honest you fucked up. This could have been very bad for an innocent man due to you.

9 years ago | Likes 65 Dislikes 8

This whole situation reminds me of the Sunil Tripathi incident after the Boston Marathon Bombing. Mob justice is not real justice.

9 years ago | Likes 165 Dislikes 6

That is because every Internet asshat thinks that are Batman and Sherlock in one.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Before that, look up Richard Jewell. A hero in the Atlanta Olympic bombing incident, media paints him like a villain. Never recovered.

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

Same here, even down to the angry comments and mass down voting of anyone trying to talk sense into them.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Having an internet connection does not make us all cops. Sure, tip off the cops, yeah, but bringing the internet mob in was a poor decision.

9 years ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 1

100%

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You almost got someone fucking killed you retard.

9 years ago | Likes 95 Dislikes 19

"almost got someone fucking killed" 10/10 would laugh again

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

Its almost like you didnt think "hey this could be fucking bad"

9 years ago | Likes 113 Dislikes 21

Op is also lying about being impartial and not speculating on whose in the video.

9 years ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 8

Yeah. He posted "here is a girl it looks like!" (paraphrase) really impartial with no speculation AT ALL (sarcasm)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Next time some of you could step back and listen to the others that are trying to be rational and use common sense. But, yknow... Downvotes.

9 years ago | Likes 60 Dislikes 7

This. Some people need to get off their moral high-horse. I for one am just glad to know the truth.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

This is a weak ass apology. I saw the title and thought good for him, read it and now I'm back to thinking you're an irresponsible jerk.

9 years ago | Likes 78 Dislikes 13

You publicly re-opened a wound for a family seeking answers. If you're so confident, next time, go to the police first. Get your points l8r.

9 years ago | Likes 214 Dislikes 22

You have any idea how many tip-offs are ignored by police? Resource shortages mean only high profile cases get instant action.

9 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 117

This is a great example of a tip-off that should have been ignored..

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oh, you think this didn't waste any resources?

9 years ago | Likes 87 Dislikes 5

Do YOU have any idea how many are ignored? Can you provide support for your claim about which cases get instant action?

9 years ago | Likes 40 Dislikes 3

" I would encourage him to release some kind of statement acknowledging the story" - No he shouldn't he's been through enough with this BS.

9 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

"I would encourage him to release some kind of statement acknowledging the story and it's far reaching effects." lol

9 years ago | Likes 94 Dislikes 12

Yeah after op caused it to become a problem in the first place.

9 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 5

Yeah, he should leave them alone. He already fucked up. Both the family and actors must have been through some stressful days thanks to him.

9 years ago | Likes 52 Dislikes 4

so, basically OP is saying they should release a statement because OP fucked up

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

@OP ur an egotistical piece of shit. You ruined someone because you wanted attention first, now you apologize because you want to save face.

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

(2/2) Neither of the things you have done are out of concern for others. You're just using them to further your own ego.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I tink Most are happy it was fake

9 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 2

Instead of contacting the police department directly and giving your evidence, you put it on the internet. Yup. Did the right thing.

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

You did the wrong thing entirely. If you have a lead go to the police. Don't announce it on the internet for all to see incl the perp / vic

You were surprised by the Burg twist? Bud you are the one that made it. "so far I am the only one to see this connection" from your 1st post

9 years ago | Likes 65 Dislikes 7

He's talking about the discovery of the "connection" between the girl in the vid and Kayla whilst researching the video.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

It there is. I connection other than the one he made

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Proof: http://imgur.com/FU9BUAZ You even insist that its her after people in the thread say that it is farfetched.

9 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 3

You started an internet witch hunt against this guy. Right thing was to take this to the cops only.

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

That's the longest "Sorry, (not sorry)" I've read. Ought to have your IP banned really.

9 years ago | Likes 90 Dislikes 17

Yeah the entire air of 'I think i did the right thing' is infuriating to say the least.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I feel so bad for the girl's family. She really is missing and all of this just underscores that fact for them for no reason.

9 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 2

Half a million people seeing that girl's missing photos isn't it better than being forgotten ?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

Yes. She's probably long dead and the family had made peace with it. Now their wounds are reopened.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Now y'all know that it's fake all of you are like " you shouldve known that you we're wrong, most of us saw that". When I found these 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 116 Dislikes 25

No, it was proven to be fake for some time now. People need to learn to Google better.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

No, there were people being doubtful. The circlejerk downvoted them.

9 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 2

I don't think "all of you" means what you think it means.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

True, sorry haha wrong choice of words

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Posts last night all of you wanted to know what happened and supported OP and if he would've been right you would've kept supporting him so

9 years ago | Likes 99 Dislikes 22

Fuck this man, op you did the right thing!

9 years ago | Likes 66 Dislikes 37

He had good intentions, but that doesn't mean he did the right thing.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

npe, i still think they did the right thing ninvestigating, n fact, i still don't understand why that video was made in the first place.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Nah, I doubted it when I saw the post. Left a witty remark and continued life as normal. @OP admitting they were wrong is cool, though.

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

This has to be the least successful "admitting they were wrong" I've ever seen. OP even congratulates himself in this post ffs.

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Perhaps. But I suppose it's better than if there was no apology at all.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 5

Actually in a way it's even more insulting and ugly. Like he's flaunting his own righteousness despite fucking up massively.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

I love how like 80% of the comments in the previous post were "someone should contact the police" and now it's all "you have no chill, bro"

9 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 7

Exactly the police. Not Internet activism.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Contacting the police wasnt the problem. It was creating a media storm about it beforehand that could have ruined this guys life.

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

Seriously! Patting themselves on the back for "not getting out the pitchforks" and simultaneously ripping this guy a new one

9 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 5

And also, isn't everyone now telling him to be cautious of mob mentality, mob mentality?

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 3

Yep! Not all imgurians think very hard.

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 4

And that's why we don't rely on mob justice.

9 years ago | Likes 2032 Dislikes 40

This.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well, it's at least why we *shouldn't* rely on mob justice...

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Innocent until proven guilty.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Except in politics

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

This reminds of the time Reddit thought they had the Boston bomber and ruined some guys life because someone overreacted

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's almost like the internet is filled with people wanting to be outraged first and collect facts second...

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

There is only one thing to do;. We need to go back and upvote all the people who were right about it being fake

9 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 9

Look in my comments section I marked most of the people who were right

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 7

We don't rely on... Here on Imgur? HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAH. HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Waiting for death penalty calls in next image of animal abuse/looters/protestors on highway/someone who got less prison than Imgurians want.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Or clowns.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Fuck clowns.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Anyone who watched the original video thinking this was real, is mentally retarded. It is so obviously staged.

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 9

I'm not sure it is 'obvious' but one has to ask themself 'would predator/sick criminals be this flippant and post a video? There w/be a mask

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's still a pretty fucked up video, and we need to pay attention to stuff like that, because one day we will ignore it and it will be real.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

This is also why "missing person" posts are dangerous. OP could be a stalker or trying to DOX.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

There has never been a story where imgur helped a missing person.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Imgur after the accusation- "You have to believe me, this was a stupid decision, but I did it with the best intentions."

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

https://31.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m5xyshvwD61qh3wnco2_500.gif You could have destroyed an innocent actor's life.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

exactly! people trying to be hercule poirot and shit!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Winner

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think the same. OP seems to think too high of himself and his actions. OP's reaction is "Here is my lynch mob but is the actor's fault".

9 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 8

To make OP's ego trip epic he further feels the need to "encourage" the actor to acknowledge the story and it's far reaching effects.

9 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 4

The "story" is that OP should have contacted the police directly and leave the whole internet out of it.

9 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 2

That's what I fucking thought, too. The police don't need a fucking viral post to start investigating. This asshole OP nearly ruined someone

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

's life just so they could get points online.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

lol No fucking shit. I'm so sick of seeing websites like IMGUR and Reddit rejoice acting like they collectively "solved the Scooby story"

9 years ago | Likes 53 Dislikes 3

Yes. This.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's a psychotic, existential need to feel like a more moral person than you actually are by means of the least possible intellectual effort

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

They did solve the "Grateful Doe" story though...

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Burn these witches!!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah like all the virgin neckbeards on Imgur and Reddit would actually go outside to do something about anything lol

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 6

This is not a case of mob justice. This was just a possible lead and reporting it was the right thing to do. Even if it caused distress.

9 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 44

I couldn't agree more, just saying that this is a good example of why not.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 5

I think the point was that if we did rely on mob justice, this would have gone differently. He would have been beaten to a pulp already 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Despite being innocent, and so that's why we don't rely on mob justice. 2/2

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

To be honest this easily could have gone sour for "Patrick" too. He has no disclaimer in the video though which is the cause of this.

9 years ago | Likes 88 Dislikes 31

I've been saying this since the beginning! "Probably fake but if these dick holes don't want to deal with accusations they need disclaimerd"

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

It was Orson Welles when he did War of the Worlds on radio that instituted that all programs be interrupted by station identification (1/2)

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

so that listeners knew they were not hearing something real. Four people died as a result. I dont think a disclaimer is ridiculous.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

The cause of this is OP's overzealous attitude. Truth is OP just wanted to be famous, he's way worse than "Patrick"

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 7

Yeah I can agree with that. But a small disclaimer somewhere would have gone a long way to prevent this. It is the internet after all.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 6

Fair but Imgur should have considered that all of OPs posts are horror/solving mystery bs and he just wishes he was Sam Spade.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Yeah the only reason he should have to put a disclaimer there is because of idiots like OP to be fair.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I need a disclaimer every time I watch a scary thing, read a spooky book, and think about something that makes me scared.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It's not about protecting you it's about protecting the person who created the content. I mean it is good content that's the thing.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is.. Is that victim shaming?

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

2)then I have now made them aware of a way to avoid this. Don't get me wrong i'm not siding with OP but you have to be extremely careful

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 8

3)when it comes to producing content and imagery like this. There is a very real possibility that you could be implicated in a crime.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 9

And quickly dismissed if the law enforcement does their job. It's the crazy vigilantes people should be worried about.

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Agreed it's only because of people like op that this precaution should even exist at all.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

1)He made an obvious mistake. None of this happens if he just explains why the video exists. If someone else wants to make a video like this

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 8

Hey, why not taking guns from civilians while we're at it ? you know, just for fun ?

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 27

Nah. I'm going to wear a Hillary mask, make a video so we can start a lynch mob for that ungodly woman who will ruin my bros legacy

We did it reddit!

9 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 1

Also true.

Shit, 4chan fingered about 4 people in the Boston Marathon bombing. None were even close to being the right people.

The Reddit one was a really fucked up story though.

Oh shit, I didn't know Imgur is a police scanner and we are all cops here. I must be really deep undercover.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

It's called being a concerned citizen. The cops thought the video was worth looking at and didn't know about it before all this.

Since when being concerned citizen requires an Imgur post? That is what people are pissed off about, that is what OP did wrong./1

A right thing to do would be tipping the cops and shutting up about it until it's resolved /2

I mean is it the right thing to do? Should you not have presented the evidence to the police first instead of posting it online?

9 years ago | Likes 786 Dislikes 37

Of fucking course it's not the 'right thing to do' but it sure does bring in a fuckload of upvotes

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

the video had been around for years and there is clear evidence in the comment section of the vid that the F.B.I knew it was a fake.

@OP is hungry for those sweet internet points, that's why. That's the only thing he could gain from this before other readers decided to

9 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 9

fucking play detectives as well.

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 3

YES. THIS. FUCKING YES.

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 4

"We did the right thing" No. Kayla's mother was contacted by the public. This is absurd. Never should have happened. Feel so bad for her.

9 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 1

this seems like the smarter thing to do, although maybe he wanted validation from the internet before doing so..

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

OP is a fucking Karma whore who saw something potentially big and put their little point count ahead of Kayla's family. Great work, OP.

9 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 3

But..but..what if he was right?!?! Can you imagine the points he'd have made? Can you!? My opinion, is simply, Mob the mob.(said Bob)

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 10

The right thing to do is to report it to police. Not report it to the Internet.

9 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 0

But then how will he get karma?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

OP didn's suspect anything when he posted it. Users pointed out the similarities with the case of Kayla and it was 2 late to keep as secret

9 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 18

No, he connected them in his very first post and then insisted it was her after everyone said no

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 2

Thats like the news not pointing blame at suspects before they are proven guilty, how else are they going to get ratings/internet points?

9 years ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 4

but the news actually does some research first.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

They still blast suspects on TV before we even know if they were involved or not, innocent people have had their lives ruined by it.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

they state facts until more evidence is found. OP found no facts at all. just hunches.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Or maybe he's buddies with the filmmakers and it's a big PR stunt.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You really should never do citizen journalism/detective work & post it on the internet. We all remember Reddit & the Boston Bombings.

Splain it

2) the conspiracy theory was made popular by Twitter celebs including fucking Madonna. Then an innocent accused by Reddit killed himself cuz

1) During the Boston Bombings the authorities released the names of the suspects. Reddit didn't believe then & they did some citizen investi

3) his life was ruined & reputation scarred, his family recieved death threats.

9 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

His reputation was ruined, but not his life. He had already killed himself beforehand. That's why he was missing in the first place.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Wow. Man I never heard of this. To be that low. Life ruined. And think that's the only way out

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Afaik he actually killed himself prior to the bombing. He'd been missing for a month prior to them.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

long story short reddit mis-identified the wrong person and kinda ruined their life.

9 years ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 1

One of the guys committed suicide.

9 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 0

He actually was dead before they pinpointed him as the bomber.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A bunch of internet detectives thought they could find who did it, picked out a young Middle Eastern Man. Said person killed himself 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

prior to the bombing taking place. Reddit pointing people at said person ended up with his family being harrassed badly as well IIRC 2/2

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Also, since they blew the story a head of time, a campus cop ended up dead.
