Nope. That's what the flashy lights are for. Cones are for people without bright yellow and green strobes. I did mobile semi repair and my boss had a heavy wrecker and we'd clear accidents all the time with it. Never once set out a cone. If I needed better warning I'd ask one of the cops, who generally aren't doing anything anyway, to set up their car in a certain location.
The tow truck is there for a reason. I would have set up traffic cones well in advance, so that any idiot would have audio feedback to remind them that they are driving a deadly metal cage at 66 mph.
Yeah nah. Our emergency vehicles have flashing beacons. We still lay out cones to protect ourselves because... well, watch the video. People can be stupid.
Can you please elaborate on how traffic cones barely surrounding a vehicle would provide any kind of useful audio feedback before they reach the tow truck?
If one hits a traffic cone, then one tends to ignore the smartphone and focus on the driving again. The traffic cones have to be placed well in advance for this to work.
For the third and final time: "well in advance". Yes, others do it different, i wrote "well in advance". I know many people are too lazy or to time constrained to do it properly. Don't be so stupid. If you are in an accident, place the warning equipment "WELL IN ADVANCE"!

I'm pretty sure that's the start of one of the Final Destination movies.

I'd ask you to do us a favor and not breed. But I don't think that's going to be something you have a choice in anyway after reading that word salad.

I’d do it for Daisy!

Because Waylon Jennings sang this song long before Garth Brooks made that album?
Druidhunter77
Oh hey this happened near where I life in GA! This was last year I’m pretty sure. Sometime in like … I want to say July.
joot
Did they survive?
Druidhunter77
As far as I know the driver survived with major injuries and was hospitalized, but I’m unsure of the results after that
ByThePowerOfSCIENCE
Distracted or intrusive thoughts won?
Also should that even be parked there?
captainfakeypants
Driver was probably using their phone.
lindsaver
Distracted driving! She broke quite a few bones but survived. (I’ve seen this in a different context).
GendouLovesDucklings
She was rubbernecking the cop shit on the opposite lanes

thought so - I added the alternative mostly because we all know the concept but seldom hear about materialization
nojustsayitdont
I don't think it's on the road. I think the driver wasn't paying attention (phone?) and thought he was following traffic.
ByThePowerOfSCIENCE
it was stopped in the left lane, per the article linked in a reply and the still from the video
certainlynotaserialkiller
Both thoughts probably

or no thoughts

It looks like it's fully off of the roadway onto the shoulder
ByThePowerOfSCIENCE
there's no shoulder on the inside
> a flatbed tow truck, which had stopped in the highway’s opposite left lane.

They’re supposed to put out cones of some form of advanced warning for that situation, aren’t they?

Cones are for vehicles that don's have bright ass yellow/green strobes. If they don't see the strobes the cones aren't doing shit either.

At 50-60mph, the 10-20' that most tow truck drivers would place the cones away from their truck, would make no beneficial difference.
