My wife is a pianist. I've turned pages for her before. I think that caused me more anxiety than actually playing caused her.

Glad she got it Bach

Me too. She had written her Chopin Liszt on the Bach. (Look at me with the composer puns - I'm too hot to Handel!)

If all the plates spin just right, their vibrations resonate and you can do amazing things.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My plates have more of a Greek Wedding vibe…

If you're playing at concert level, are you reading the music note by note, or are you playing by memory and using the sheets as reference

3 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

Typically the soloist (violin) will know it by memory. The accompanist (piano) will know it well enough to get by, but not by memory.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

The soloist has practiced this over and over again. The accompanist has many different pieces to play and has only gone through a few times

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Anyone who knows the piece, did the violinist stall to give them more time, or is it always played like this? Sounded like she doubled a bar

The trill at the end was longer than it would need to be in normal circumstances, but still done musically enough.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes @op's clip starts right here, https://youtu.be/IcKh2gLPiwI?t=274 and the trill happens at 4:50

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thank you! It’s even shorter than I expected. Always super interesting to see how musicians improvise in unexpected circumstances :)

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, the 2 players handled it like pros!

Big deal, I once watched a rabbit battle a mouse while playing Liszt
