#27 I'm sorry, I can't think of Laika all alone. I mean, I don't like dwelling on her anyway bc i'll cry, but I like to think her spirit remained down here with any who loved her, human or animal. Maybe her mom or littermates or the scientist who last kissed her. And when they passed, Laika moved to the next life with them. Playing among the stars sounds cool, but lonely. She doesn't deserve that, just like she didn't deserve what happened to her.

#10 can confirm, stills smells like molasses on a really hot day in that neighborhood, we’ll it did in the 80s at least.

#1 When my husband worked at McD's, he knew someone that actually did that to try and get compensation. It wasn't worth it.

A friend of mine was a swing shift manager, running to the back, cornering on a freshly mopped floor. His hand was bandaged up to the size of a basketball, but he eventually recovered full use.

#10 - yep...21 people killed, and 150 more were injured. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Molasses_Flood

2 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 0

Sounds awful, yet it is called "great", and now I am envious of people drowning in sweet delicious molasses.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

The tank had been seeping molasses from the seams since it was built. It attracted children who would wipe the ooze and lick it off their fingers. Two kids were last seen standing next to the tank when it ruptured.

Great as in large, powerful, devestating. like how WWI was The Great War. And let me tell you, it was not a good time.

#27 This emotionally broadsided me in a way o haven't had since Kitty Cat Kill Sat. Our little one is named after Laika.

I didn't manage to finish it... I will go back and reread it, start to finish, one day, but good gods it got heavy.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I’ve been meaning to read that. Is it good?

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's not bad. There are some incredible moments, but it suffers a little from the conversation from serial to full-length novel. There's a fair bit of repetition, but it's ultimately good.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

#41 every cookie cutter is in the shape of a pineapple or rose. Or both.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I really want the legit answer of what this was sold as. It's plaguing me.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

speech bubble maybe?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No definitive answer found, the top three most common guesses were: rose, strawberry with a message banner, and racist caricature. So probably one of those.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

there are a few head scratchers in this Vol. I have paused, looked around searchingly while digesting these noodle knockers and audibly said, “what?” More than once. Well done.

2 years ago | Likes 60 Dislikes 0

Does anybody actually write essays in advance of the night before they're due? Maybe it's the ADHD, but I was always doing them at the last possible moment. Still ended up with an A or B.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Your knockers are made of noodles? Mine are made of disappointment and excessive pizza

You're reading your printed essay one last time before you go to class and realize that it's completely not the type of essay the professor asked for.

2 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 1

oh no, not again

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

The writer is creating a last minute essay for a college class. As he looks it over, he realizes how bad the essay is, and imagines his professor coldly dissecting it for a poor grade later the next day.

In comparing his just written essay to a newly born, two-headed calf the writer is borrowing from the imagery of this poem:

Silly Rabbit…Ticks are for kids!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As someone who has never lived in a place with ticks, it really did look like interesting trail mix for a few.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

#46 Yes, but just barely. I hope you're ok with food banks.

2 years ago | Likes 148 Dislikes 0

I honestly cannot tell if this is satire, and that's horrific

2 years ago | Likes 55 Dislikes 0

It must be. But I know a few big earners who are so terrible with money that it could be true

2 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

I mean, it states it was posted from Earth. I feel like that shows it's satire, but I'm not on Twitter enough to know if change shit like that is a thing you can do.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I have some bad news for you...

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

That combined income is over 20x what I make, and I don't need food banks (I pay about half to 1/3 of average rent/utilities than the average for my area, but I'm also awful with money, so it almost balances out)

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I think the joke was about San Francisco.

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I was just realizing I live in one of the higher cost-of-living areas in the states and its still only about 5% of what it's like in SF. Shits nuts

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It's not. My high school friend made $450k in 2023 as a doorman in SF and lived a solid hour's drive away because that was what he could afford for housing. He's going to get a second job so he can "move closer and save money."

2 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 6

No he fucking didn't lol

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Doorman to the morgue where he collects inheritance? I refuse to believe this.

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Ummm are they hiring?

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

...where... Where as a doorman does he work? I live in SF and would love to make that kind of money... And I live in the city proper. There's definitely places available to rent that don't cost an arm and a leg.i mean the average rent in the mission is about 2.9k, that's less than 36k/yr, so at 450k, what was he doing?

2 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

Lines.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Spent most his money paying people to listen to his made up stories

2 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

People would just do that? Go online and make up stories?
