Are we going to talk about the Epic Games launcher on computer mining all your data and is owned by a Chinese company? Anyone?

The best news to come out of all this halabaloo is that CDPR came out & basically said they aren't interested in exclusivity for Cyberpunk.

Exclusives do literally the exact opposite of creating competition, it forces competition out. Choice of platform however breeds competition

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2/ you cannot buy these games elsewhere. That's monopolising.

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

No, it really doesn't. It's arbitrary bullshit and extra arbitrary on pc. Epic doesn't have competition because they are literally making it

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Wow, I had no idea!? Is it a WoD game? Related to Troika’s amazing VtM?? Please tell me! Thanks

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

...I have spent $200 on PC games this week, but this could be tempting

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yup, a "true successor" as the devs called it: https://youtu.be/g8qsxNt3f0Y

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's still for sale on steam. $60 is a high price though.

7 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 5

Wait. How is it an exclusive then? I don't understand

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

It's hard because I absolutely love this saga, but I've learned so I'm waiting until after it's realeased to buy it. Also fuck Epic Games.

7 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

I'm with you for now. Don't get me wrong, I still love playing the original. Need to see gameplay

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

How is $60 a high price? It's the same as any nee game out there with a big budget.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Most games I buy on release are 40 or less.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I just think that a weeks worth of groceries is too high for one game

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm more worried the dev team's wokeness will ruin the game.

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Elaborate

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Members of the team a very sensitive to social justice issues, in paperback they made a homosexual muslim vampire that protects minorities.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wut? Ha

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lemme guess, you're also one of the people who don't like Marvel's young Muslim Captain Marvel?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In a game about being monsters they satirize people with different points of views as moronic versions of themselves to emulate the 1/2

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

the villains, similar to how Christian schools teach evolution. It robs the villains of their good writing for a cheap 'got em' moment. 2/2

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Basically they sacrifice the medium to pander to certain groups of people.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Honestly I don't get why people bitch. It you're getting a cheaper price, then go there. You can still ad it to your steam.

7 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 19

You can?

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yeah, literally any game can be launched through steam's launcher if you add it to your library.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 6

Oh, you mean by giving Epic access to my Steam, which I do not want.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

No. By letting steam access the file on your PC through steam.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Not the same you don't get all the steam features as if you bought it independent or through steam

7 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

A) PC gamers don’t want console exclusivity on PC. Price isn’t a concern. B) People are concerned Epic is a Chinese spy agency.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

C) some people may think Fortnite is cancer and want no part of it (or a forced DL / install)

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Valve has a monopoly right now. You guys already put up with uplay and origin. The epic store isn't a big deal I don't think.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

Steam is far from a monopoly - gog, nitro, g2a, and now epic. Competition is good for the industry, but exclusives are bad for consumers.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don’t think it’s a monopoly, there are other online stores, even retail stores selling some of the same games. Exclusives are the problem.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No one complains about u play or origin though? Who cares? Xbox has exclusives. Sony has exclusives. It helps sell games, and lowers prices.

We like that they are giving more money to devs, but we are disgusted they are bringing the exclusive war to PC - which is anti-consumer.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

2/ and you don't beat a monopoly by becoming a monopoly. If Epic was so certain their model is better then why exclusives? Why create an

7 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

Steam isn't a monopoly. Not to mention Uplay, Origin, GOG, Humble Store, Discord Store who are all better and offer more features than Epic.

7 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Uplay is pretty fucking horrible though. And none of em can really compete with steam yet.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

3/ actual monopoly where you only have to go to Epic? I don't have to go to Steam, Epic is forcing people to go there.

7 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

Pretty much this, the exclusives thing would, ideally for epic, be about creating a monopsony, which is an environment where they are the

Competition and thus become a monopoly. The best example of this is Amazon.

Except there is a shit ton of it.....

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Except ESL has been makin encrypted copies of steam files without user concent. http://www.dlsite.com/maniax/work/=/product_id/RJ110665.html

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I dont think thats the right link...

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Epic has stated that they wont make The same mistake again as with metro, even tho idrc, i think if its better for devs, go for it.

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 13

The mistake they were referring to was getting a game pulled that already allowed pre orders on a different storefront

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

They said that right after they announced Heavy Rain and other Press X To SHAUN games from Quantic Dream will be exclusive to Epic.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

...i...I have to... “Shaun? Shaun...? Shaauuun?! SHAUN!...”

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mean, they've already made the same mistake again. With Pheonix Point and the need Monolith thing, right?

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Idk never heard those titles, i only Read some article about "not gonna make the same mistake as with metro" but i dont doubt you.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A kickstarter game that promised steam and GoG codes and the new 'totally not fallout new vegas' by the same developer that advertised steam

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Two games i was seriously ready to put money on, now i'm gonna pirate Phoenix Point and wait for Outer Worlds.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Right? I was gonna buy both, even if on epic, but I refuse to buy 3rd party exclusives. I consider it totally unethical.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

its worse for the consumer and as a consumer, youre not supposed to support anti-consumer practices. youre shooting yourself in the foot.

7 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 2

How is it worse? Using another platform? Like im not used to that with origin, uplay etc.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 7

You are losing the choice of your preferred platform, which in essence makes it anti-consumer. 1st party exclusives are fine, 3rd is a nono

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Origin and uplay are direct sellers. Epic is a 3rd party. There's a big difference there.

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

its inconvenient; i dont want to be forced to a certain platform, i want to choose; every app you have to run has a resource cost; extra drm

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

we have people making launchers to manage all the launchers now for fucks sake.

7 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Its like 2 clicks away to play a game, i understand your point, its just, for me, i cant see how much of an inconvenient it is.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 5

But i respect your feelings for it.
