That tablecloth grab…

Someone said this is the same farm house that the mouse came from

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Definitely one of my faves. Pixar is amazing every time.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

One amazing scene, emotions ooze of it, gotta give it to the Disney artists.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That one, de Funes in ''The Wing and The Thigh" and Anderson's Grand Budapest Hotel are
my gastro-cinematic favs. Hmmm mmmm delicious!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

One of the best moments in film. Period.

I love you mom!

There's a theory that Anton Ego's childhood home was the same house Remy learned to cook at from the start of the movie.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

For me, I get that reaction from my mom’s curry chicken or my aunt’s Indian tacos

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

They serve that exact ratatouille at Chez Remy at Disneyland Paris, it’s incredibly tasty IRL.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I think most of this movie is just alright, but this scene is just amazing.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Blintzes. Right back to my Mom-mom's kitchen.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You have a raaa----sh?

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

*looks down*

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A favorite

4 years ago | Likes 53 Dislikes 0

An interesting parallel perhaps between Bob riding along in Cooper and Remy controlling Linguini? Sinister!

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Had the exact same reaction when I tried the Honeycomb cereal "Classic Flavor". How tf did they manage to cock up such a good thing so long?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The twist, the home Remy was at in the beginning is the critic childhood home. That’s why the dishes perfectly match up

4 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 4

You can see it clearly isn't the same house as the kitchen and everything else has a COMPLETELY different layout.

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Still remains one of my favorites. It was very well done and not just a cutesy kids story like all the cars sequels.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Everyone in the theatre laughed at this scene when I saw it. I have no idea why. It's a touching moment.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Love this scene because it demonstrates the power of food to provoke all sorts of emotions and memories. It’s why I love to cook.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Rice with cut up hotdogs and ketchup. I'll cook it and run around the back of the house to eat it in privacy... sophisticated I am not.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Some viewers think the old woman's house and Ego's are the same. Remy learned how to cook from Ego's mom.

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Oh, look, the scene that had me and my dad crying like babies in a theater just a few months after my gramma's death.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Weird. Two days ago my second grandchild was born.. they named her Remi. Trigged a memory of this movie. Watched it. Now this post.

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

My nephew born during the pandemic is also named Remi.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Just watched this for the first time the other day. Loved it.

4 years ago | Likes 219 Dislikes 2

Same! Was the only Pixar movie I hadn't seen for some reason.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I wouldn’t trust anyone who doesn’t like that movie.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

is the waiter on rollerskates? cuz it looks like it at the start of the clip ?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The French cinema audience loved this movie.

Anton Ego : In many ways, the work of a critic is easy. We risk very little, yet enjoy a position over those who offer up their work 1/

Voiced by Peter O'Toole.

TIL

"It behooves every man to remember that the work of the critic is of altogether secondary Importance and the future belongs to 1/2

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And here we are criticizing critics.

the man who does things." Theodore Roosevelt.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Also tho the critics job is valuable. They provide insight and context to work that might be under (or over) appreciated.

4 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 1

Even if I disagree with a critic, it's interesting to hear insights and nuances that I'm not aware of. Especially with wine and food.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Aspects I never considered or even knew existed, gives new perspective and appreciation. But in the end, I like what I like tho.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This is the proper way to use a review or critique

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

For the very very few who are good, yes they are valuable. Most are pretentious wankers who are trying to make themselves feel better. 1/2

4 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

2/2 the trick is to find a reviewer who you agree with. Have you tried a dish there and agree? Go with it. Very few meet that criteria imho.

and their selves to our judgment. We thrive on negative criticism, which is fun to write and to read. But the bitter truth we critics 2/

4 years ago | Likes 284 Dislikes 1

must face, is that in the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is probably more meaningful than our criticism designating it so

4 years ago | Likes 272 Dislikes 0

I once made this argument on imgur. Spent 2 days replying someone who absolutely refused to accept that their criticism isn't gospel.

4 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 1

To some people, criticism is simply above criticism. There's no subjectivity. "Polished turd" 'Bag of shit" and all other fecal metaphors.

4 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Those metaphors to them are set in stone. And no matter how many disagree, they cannot accept that others may see the same things different

No love for the yelpers?

4 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

My favorite Disney movie from adulthood.

4 years ago | Likes 499 Dislikes 2

It’s really good

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Never seen it

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Was going to upvote then read adulthood as "childhood" then quickly gathered myself and reread again. Glad I did

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The Lion King is still hands-down my favorite movie of all time

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Up is mine but I'll have to see soul a few more times. Might suppla t the champion. Ratatouille is 2nd.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Same. It's just a great movie. Thought I was gonna hate it when I saw trailers of a rat controlling a man by pulling his hair.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's a goddamn masterpiece.

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Ehhhh. I mean I really really REALLY like it, like most Pixar movies! BUT, the whole thing about the hair control was just a bit...forced.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not Disney at all. Pixar

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Couldn't agree more. Pixar smashed this one outta the park

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

From adulthood my favorite is Coco. Both the story and the visual. Just a great movie.

4 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 0

Coco is incredible but Inside Out takes the cake for me

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Coco makes me cry every time. As a grown man, I have no shame in that.

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Hearing Miguel sing "Remember Me" through tears always leaves me in a puddle of tears. Grown man here too

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Gorgeous movie.

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I’m still blown away by how stunning the art was in that movie. The lighting and textures were next level. I still choke up at the ending.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm bawling from the time the old guy is forgotten basically thru the rest of the movie lmao. Love it.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

From my adulthood it is Zootopia, hands down!

Disney bought Pixar in 2006. Ratatouille was released in 2007. "Disney movie" is technically correct, the best kind of correct.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

It’s a damn Pixar movie. Disney only released it. Just like all of the damn studio ghibli movies.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It's "technically" a Disney movie, no matter how mad you get about that :) I didn't say it wasn't a Pixar film. It *is* a Disney movie tho.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

This is Pixar's best movie. I know what I said.

4 years ago | Likes 242 Dislikes 5

Finding Nemo or else Toy Story 2 for me.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Ill allow it, only because Emperors New Groove isn't Pixar

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It’s actually my favourite Pixar movie

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm not and will never be a chef, but I am an artist, and this entire scene and Ego's speech slapped me and I cried like a damn baby.

4 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

A chef is just a ‘food’ artist ?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They make so many good movies it's hard to choose.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

My favorite is Wall-E, but this scene is incredible and never fails to amaze me.

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

No Pixar mom tho

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nah, it’s inside out or coco

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Book of Life was better, fight me

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wall-E was also a good one

4 years ago | Likes 88 Dislikes 1

My Wall-E headcanon is that there were many ships with fallout like experiments going on. The Axiom for consumerism, etc

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Wall-E is the best!

4 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Facts. Wall-E never fails to amaze me.

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Disagree but it's a great movie. Up, Toy Story Monsters inc, Walle, Cars, are better. A Bug's Life, Brave about even. .. *Braces for hate*

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

*hates*

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I knew I'd get some hate, but the level of obscenity you directed at me is quite impressive!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You like the story of an annoying princess who turns her mom into a bear and gets what she wants without any comeuppance?

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

On the surface i would agree, but its much more complicated than that.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Umm *goes red with embarrassment* I...umm I like redheads....

Pixar rarely makes a bad movie...except Cars, we don't talk about Cars.

4 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 9

I thought the dinosaur movie was worse.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Wrong, cars is my favourite

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 4

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Cars was fun and wholesome. Cars 2 was unspeakable. And Planes... I was amazed how bad that movie was.

4 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Planes wasnt actually pixar

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I dont feel like bugs was good. But I think I look at their other movies as a comparison and bugs wasnt one of the better.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

Also, I do not think good dinosaur was great either. Agian, comparing it to their others it's just at the bottom of the list

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The good dinosaur was one of the films I had to watch for French class. I hate it solely on that point.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's between this and Up for me

4 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 2

The top three are listed here.

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

y'all are on something if you're not counting Coco.

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Fair point!

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Coco is my favorite. Even after I had to see it hundreds of times to appease my nephew. It's that good.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Coco is also hugely important because it’s a benchmark for how to tell a story about another culture and treat it with immense care and...

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

respect. It’s no coincidence that Coco was the highest grossing film of all time in Mexico.
