So my gram had dementia/Alzheimer's so I'm definitely feeling you but... You're killin' it on them keys, and the nails is on point! Dang!

Beautiful. Definitely cherish the time you have. I miss my grandparents so much.

I love you

I would like her to come play piano for me. Must bring the piano.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's an awful day for rain.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I love it, but why are you playing it so fast? Just because they’re 16ths doesn’t mean they’re to be played quickly.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

is this prelude in C? it sounds like it. i learned to play it in high school and loved it. so beautiful. but this version is hella fast lol

I had a resident, she didn’t know her name or who her kids were but she could play the piano without sheet music all day long.

I love this, and I think now-a-days people lack skills and talent. If you have passions that you can share and light up a seniors life, then

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

You are on the right path

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I hate Alzheimers with a passion

Tony Bennet has Alzheimer’s, and his last televised concert with Lady Gaga had a behind-the-scenes intro. He recognized few people around

4 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

him. But it also showed him remembering his music, and also who Lady Gaga was when she stepped on stage to perform with him.

This stuff always gets me. It's a privilege to grow old.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think deep down part of the reason why I have such an unhealthy lifestyle is that I don't want to live long enough for that to happen

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

My dad had Sundowners - ok during the day but bad at night. Was very hard for my mom the last year with him.

I think we all needed this today, @OP. So thank you very much.

My grandpa developed dementia after I moved from Canada to Boston 2 years ago. He forgets people daily but always remembers me when I call.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I used to play the piano for my Nonna and read to her when she was recovering from chemo.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

2 kinds of people 1) People who are absolute dicks to Alzheimer’s patients because they think “they won’t remember” and 2) Folks like this.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

gosh this hit me right in the feels. from her performance to his priceless reaction to the background... wholesome bliss post!

Ditto. This made me tear up. Beautiful. Thank you OP

Music processing involves parts of the brain not involved in other day-to-day activities; I recommend reading Musicophilia by Oliver Sacks.

As a piano teacher, this is so beautiful to me. Also as a piano teacher, I am FURIOUS at those nails lol

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why? She can still play. Does it supposedly damage the piano?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Time is precious? This mf is 93! He's had a good run. I can't imagine having to deal with 93 years of this shit.

4 years ago | Likes 40 Dislikes 31

If i have grandkids and such at that age... I'd probably to try to live a little longer for them

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

the granddaughter has not had 90 years to appreciate the company of her grandfather wtf is the point of this comment

4 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 1

She hasn't known him for 93 years, and their remaining time together is precious and short for her. Learn to emphasize with a fellow human.

4 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

FUCK YOU. Alzheimer's has destroyed so many lives and torn down many people for losing their loved ones. Be ashamed you decided to comment.

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

And what? You think he's lives 93 years with Alzheimer's disease? Or are you saying you wouldn't want to put up with an amazing granddaughter

Hahaha I'll be taking this too..

This music video was so good! Also the track was a banger.

4 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Squints from The Sandlot was a brilliant choice.

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

My teacher would beat me with a stick if I tried to play with nails like that but it GIVES ME HOPE ONE DAY

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Why? She can still play. Does it supposedly damage the piano?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No, but according to my teacher it "prevents your hands from being in the correct playing position" and "causes unnecessary noise"

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Bach’s prelude in C major for those wondering. To me friend @grellbert for giving me this information last time it was posted

4 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 0

Saving this for later

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is it played a bit fast?

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

It’s gotta be ALOT faster cause the few I found on Apple Music were slower and didn’t quite sound the same

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

She is playing it too fast, yes. But the grandpa likes it so, it is still pretty.

4 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

True

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I asked cause I loved how she did it. Not to take away from it but that’s just my style

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I upvotes for the awareness, my dad always yelled at me the deeper his dementia got.

4 years ago | Likes 269 Dislikes 0

My step dad has become really nasty. It's so hard to stay kind and patient sometimes as I know it's the disease but fuck. What an asshole.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Same here - my dad developed early dementia from a rodeo accident when he was young- he has either yelled or apologized for 20 years

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

My mean ol grandma actually got *nicer*. My dad was the only kid to get a real relationship with his mother because she forgot she was mean!

4 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

My mum is only 65 with it. She is getting calmer and calmer every year and now is more relaxed than she has ever been

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I'm sorry that happened to you. It hit my FIL like that too. He was so scared and angry. No real peace. Alzheimer's sucks

4 years ago | Likes 89 Dislikes 0

Yeah, it really sucked though moments when he remembered what had happened. When I saw him remember, was what hurt the most.

4 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 0

Ugh. It is so painful. When we'd get home after a visit my husband and I would put our arms around each other and sob outloud

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's the part most people don't talk about. Dementia twists the mind in weird ways, some people become super sexual (borderline rapey) 1/

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

some become aggressive, some just become a puddle and stop talking, others have moments of perfect clarity, and some are all of the above 2/

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

If I ever develop it, I'm offing myself. I do not want to put those around me through that hell. 3/3

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

feel ya, I looked after my old mom and she came to 'not like' me more and more as time passed.

4 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

Fuck that's sad. I was too young when my grandpoo got dementia so I can't remember what it's like. I'm not ready for my mom to get old.

4 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Same! In 10 yrs my parents will be in their 70s. I find the thought terrifying. I just had my first kid, pregnant with Nr 2. I'm not ready!

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

It's not a given that all folks suffer dementia, some is just normal memories fading; it tends to come on gradually. Just be a good kid :)
