Imagine camping for a weekend in that thing. Bliss!

This is exactly what James Cameron had to do with the Narcissus (the lifeboat Ripley used to escape from the Nostromo). It was in a collector’s garden pretty damaged.

I dunno who needs to hear this, but if you're in the US (or can do a convincing online impression) season 1 of Lower Decks just went out on Youtube for frreee. And it is excellent. But most people here probably know that already. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTQnkijDtRQ

the cost and effort of moving this thing around and that it was not ready for the start of filming are two of the reasons the transporter was invented. Which always amuses me, One of the most famous scifi devices, the Star Trek transporter exists basically because of cost and a shuttle prop was not ready.

Same with Doctor Who and the Tardis, and that it looked like a police box. Limited budget TV series, how can we get our heroes to weird and alien worlds? Spaceship prop far too expensive....

Apparently it was at the Intrepid museum until 2022 btu it then was moved to the "Star Trek Original Series Set Tour"...but I'm not seeing any indication of it on either museum's webpage

Would be suprised if much of the original is part of the final picture as I assume it is made out of wood and as you can see in the picture of the back, the top and back are rotted out.

Yeah, it's very much a Ship of Theseus situation. Rotted wood, rusted metal, chipped paint. I can't imagine the plastic chairs from the interior were intact. Is it still the same shuttle?

Actually, a parsec is a unit of dist….oh wait, never mind.

I thought it burned up in the atmosphere. I saw it in that documentary, The Galileo Seven

It slipped through the nexus and ended up with us.

If only this was the nexus rather than Praxis one week before Star Trek VI

First they had to turn it into pallets

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Before that it was soaked in wood.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Don't you make pallets from coffee tables?

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

People are making these stupid “artisanal” pallets now out of raw wood.
