A pediatrician called to help get a kid in to counseling. She wanted him to be prioritized because he had suffered severe, physical, and sexual abuse at the hands of the biolagical parents he had been taken from. I had to explain that I couldn't do that because at a children's behavioral health clinic all the kids we see are serverly abused. Her client's situation may have been and extreme outlier in her practice, but was a part of the day to day at my clinic. Somedays I leave wanting to throw myself off a bridge.
