Having minimalist versions of everything would make shopping a lot less stressful

I think some look good and some look like they're from the 60s, but not in a good way.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

TIL I'm not a minimalist.

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

most look like they're actually the old version of the brand. when the packaging wasn't that important yet.

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I think it works for the classier brands, but not for the junk foods aimed at kids. It looks like they turn into cheap home brands.

12 years ago | Likes 830 Dislikes 1

Agreed. I don't think the Pringles crowd is particularly minimal. They want to see all the flavor molecules on each chip. *Not to scale

12 years ago | Likes 51 Dislikes 0

I think that's partly colour choice, and packaging choice (which weren't changed here). Simplicity is nice on better materials.

I didn't know they still made Smints!

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Red bull looks incredible in full blue.

12 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

It looks like the Blueberry "Editions" can to me. And delicious...

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The minimalist labels look like the generic store brand labels.

12 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 3

MILK. COLA. ORANGE JUICE.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Marketing majors hate him!

12 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

Anyone else think the M&Ms just end up looking like Superstore No Name brand?

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

as an architecture student, this is porn

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Understand and study your reaction to each, you'll learn a lot about psychology.

12 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

fuck you downvote fairy. UPVOTES FOR EVERYONE!

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Maybe I'm uncultured, but I mostly don't like them. :|

12 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 4

No, it's the opposite. Cleaner, but it loses so much style. The essence behind each product is gone.

12 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

In most cases they're not even what I would consider cleaner. Just bland. You also lose any idea of what some of the products are.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I bet if you put any of these sets on the shelves, most people would grab the leftmost one.

12 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 1

One of the main advantages of minimalist design is that it CAN make people believe that its a better/more sophisticated product. 1/2

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

This effect does still require that there be SOME kind of design expertise, which several of these completely fail to do.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I know right? its almost as if someone was paid to make them look nice not generic.

12 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Interesting, but not really good marketing

12 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 4

You see this? This is awesome right here.

12 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 9

Why is it awesome?

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Marketing/branding interests me for several reasons. This encourages discussion about the basic elements of any brand (I'm also in the field)

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'll agree with it if it's used just as a study as the title states, but I don't think very many of these would be good redesigns at all.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I agree with you. I think the point was merely about how much you can whittle away excess elements but still stay "on-brand."

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

1/2 It is awesome because your brands known everywhere like Tabasco could do what we see in the third option because it shows that their

Company has gotten so famous that they no longer have to use vast insignias and "hey look at me " for consumers to see them. Less is more.

Hello ;) Would you like to come to the pants party I am throwing?

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'd like to not come to a party that isn't in your pants?

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Since you used a double negative I can only assume you want to come to a party in my pants.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

yeah okay mom

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

By the way your username is boss

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I like the second to last one on almost all of them. The last durex on looks really good.

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Name Brand, Store Brand, Dollar Store, Knock Off

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You mean, remove everything and put a pretty generic sans serif typeface in the middle?

12 years ago | Likes 129 Dislikes 12

at least it isn't comic sans, ey?

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Yeah.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

YOU SAID TYPEFACE NOT FONT I LOVE YOU

12 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 0

I found the Graphic Designer!

12 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Thank you!minimalism branding is not just a simple font!their is more to design in it and this shows!I sometimes find it harder to do simple

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I agree, it's actually challenging to do something minimal and eye-catching. There is more to it than changing the label to helvetica.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Pretty much this. Not much of a study, as it is removing everything but the text.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

HOLY SHIT SMINTS! I totally forgot about Smints!

12 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Holy Shit Smints may or may not be a new acceptable way to express surprise. Let's try to use it more.

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

All roads lead to Helvetica, apparently.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They still make Smints?!

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Some look great, other ones look like cheap store brand.

12 years ago | Likes 53 Dislikes 1

Moreover if he changes the font.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

agreed.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

dat Schweppes

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Guinness is incredibly clever. Makes it actually look like a pint b

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Eh, the harp is pretty iconic. I don't like it not being there.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's true. The second last one is the best as far as depicting a pint, while keeping its trademark.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For most of them I like the second image the best.

12 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Same here- looks classy but not bland.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I laughed at the Vanish one because things were actually vanishing.

12 years ago | Likes 469 Dislikes 7

I was working out how to make this point as I browsed the comments.. nice.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I wish I had puns of steel like you guys do :(

12 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 1

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I like the minimalist labels, though they might look a little bit Soviet cold-warish

12 years ago | Likes 919 Dislikes 13

I think the second to last Guinness can is beautiful

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or budget brands.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

More like pre-1900 America. Still better than the in your face bullshit of the past few decades...

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I totally see that, as Soviet Constructivism was all about efficiency.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

To me, the minimalist labels usually look more "premium" for some reason. I like it.

12 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

If you do it right they'll look good, if you do it wrong they look cheap.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Last I checked, it seems like shit might be going down very soon. So it might be appropriate.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm cool with that.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

they look like I could buy em at Whole Foods or Trader Joe's

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I like all the middle ones, not to Soviet, not to American

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

Almost like the Dharma Initiative stuff. Plain label with text.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Looks like shit to me. As someone who enjoys art, even lame product art, I hate this, it's boring and generic and lazy looking.

12 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

Only the ones reduced to plain yellow/white with sans serif black print.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I also enjoy art, but I think that there are different aesthetics that work for products. Perhaps the minimalism is just a nice change

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Technically, in most product cases anyway, it's going backwards. "Retro" products were often more minimalist...

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Relativity. Minimalists labels only look good in comparison to the less so. If we only had minimalists, the other would be more interesting.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You must also work in branding. :)

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And if not, you should!

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

lol nah. I'm a rocket scientist (astronautical Engineer official term) XD

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have a rocket scientist friend at JPL. Fascinating stuff!

Probably not..i'm guessing she does the minimal as in least amount of care down there. Meaning she is sporting an afro plus vag berries.
