Since I haven't quite told my family or workers yet I just need to vent. I'm incredibly sad. I spent the last three years developing an app in conjunction with my cousin. We made some mistakes, and learned some lessons but we never actually launched properly to market. In the time we spent developing it, 3-4 competitors sprung up with whitelabel apps and were able to be up and running before we could. It's heartwrenching having worked our ass off for three years with something really promising to be shut down so close to the finish line.

This is the android version: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dgw.reach&hl=en
We couldn't put together a iOS version in time for the most important festival in our island. We did everything we could to bootstrap this app and get it up and running, but, it wasn't enough. But it just seems impossible to get the iOS version of this up and running by the first week in January..

I dunno, the emotional side of me is distraught, the rational side says that these things happen. Either way :(.

TLDR; OP can't get an App launched throws hissy fit.

Imgur doesn't like selfies, @op.

It's good that you're able to have the two sides here. Your heart is hurting but your brain is trying to cope. Stay strong and don't hold

But you're just ripping off uber, aren't you? You talk as if these white label apps stole your thunder, but really they beat you in ->

Copying someone else's idea? If you had something original that someone came out with before you did, I could understand the sense of ->

Loss, but here all you've lost is money - and only a sliver of money, at that. Even if they hadn't pre-emptied you, as soon as you ->

Launched, if you'd been successful, there'd be three copies within six months. Why not come up with a new idea, and then protect it?

Well you're right. It's not terribly original. Except that we let the drivers bid and only take a small percentage of the fee as ours.

There are also very few "original" ideas any more.
