"have you tried working out and losing weight?" - idiots

As usual, you can tha nk the Republicans for that .

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Basic healthcare shouldn't be for profit.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

As the owner of a diabetic cat, I can vouch for this. The insulin prices are ridiculous

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Basically, every capitalist should be ripped apart in the streets. Baby steps.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Don't worry, insulin only costs *reads notes* up to $1000 per vial now! So two series X :)

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I would just buy the Xbox and perish

Yeah, I like my "sOcIaLiSt" country(Germany). Probably got 10k$ in Insulin in my fridge. Cost me ~100€. Even without insurance, price would

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

be 10€ per vial. No price gouging in europe. Still, 50% of Americans vote to be poor and die and stuff. Shame.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

This has got to be a joke I am to European to understand right? Right???

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But I don't even like X Box!

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I don't even want to buy 1 xbox series s

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Shouldn’t cost you more than a Hershey bar.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Don't worry it won't always cost as much as an Xbox Series S. The price of consoles always go down over time.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Don't you have drug dealers in USA who smuggle stuff across the ... northern boarder?

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I’m surprised we don’t here more about insulin smuggling

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

May I suggest guillotines..Hard to price gouge sick people or block laws that would help without a head.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Have you tried praying? It worked on my elephantiasis

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Don't compare drugs to consoles. You'll give the pharm execs the idea to trickle supplies to create artificial demand.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

But that's what they already do. That's exactly why medicine is so expensive.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

still surprised that there are no medical US refugees heading to Europe with a working healthcare - not yet, or did it already start ?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It’s actually not as easy for Americans to move to Europe as many people assume.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Maybe medical asylum will become a thing for diabetics in the coming future, but I doubt it. Most just expect us to die.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Move to a civilized country until they get the message. Or change the sysytem.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yeah most people can't realistically do either of those my dude.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Millions of refugees do, without anything but a need... Right? People CAN, they just don't THINK they can, or should.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

?? By doing what? Specifically? What significant change can a normal dude realistically accomplish and by doing what?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Specifically differs per situation. But physically moving seems necessary in most cases.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So you think vague notions of people doing something will make the monumental change needed in American society?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Remember, there is the list price, the "coupon" price, the "insurance doesn't cover it but you have insurance" price and $5. Which is right?

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

The coupons that I printed actually raised the price?…

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Neat! Over list price or insurance price?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Over list price. My dog has diabetes, so it’s a canine prescription for human insulin. My insurance ? is not applicable .

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The US Healthcare system's business model is literally "your money or your life." Fuck Capitalism

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

but if US diabetics don't pay the value of an Xbox every week for the rest of their lives, how will insurance execs afford their 4th yacht?

3 years ago | Likes 402 Dislikes 3

True. Fair point.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I havent thought of that before, they earned that 4th yacht! Its not fair for us to ask them not to gouge us. They give us yachting jobs.

3 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

4th yacht this quarter*

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If you work hard, give your everything every day, sacrifice your health and well being, in just under 2 years your boss can have a new car.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And how will they continue employing ppl specifically to deny your insurance claims? Some people just don't think about the important things

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

5th*

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

6th*

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes it’s a little tiny yacht that can be parked in the back of big one

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Inflation is greedy companies

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

costs you or the insurance company? they charge different prices

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

https://costplusdrugs.com/

3 years ago | Likes 52 Dislikes 4

Spread the word. They are relying on word of mouth so they can keep costs VERY LOW, not spending on ads.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

They do not have insulin there.

3 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Yet

3 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 2

Yeah, hopefully this is on their short list for expansion, but they need to become popular for the system to work

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Doesn't insulin need to be refrigerated? Can it be mailed out to people?

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No, it has to be thrown really hard

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Guess Insulin hasn't hit the Cuban pharmacy store yet? Shame.

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

No, Cost Plus does not do insulin yet.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Mark Cuban. I should have clarified

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Cuban the investor, not the country

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

costplusdrugs.com. Mark Cuban started an online pharmacy with insanely low costs

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Mark Cuban started a pharmacy company that sells *some* medications for their cost plus a fixed 15% margin. It doesn’t carry insulin yet.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Do you know how many times I have thought about sitting in front of Lilly HQ, refusing to take my insulin, until I either die or kicked off?

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Or worse. Be sent a ambulance and be in debt

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'll join you. Sick of this shit.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Before somebody comes an says it, not all diabetics can manage their diabetes* with the cheap, basic insulin that’s available at Walmart.

3 years ago | Likes 191 Dislikes 2

Discount cards for insulin whether you're insured or not: https://imgur.com/account/favorites/4mbxl19 We save >$220 a month!

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

^and

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Oh they could. They might lose a foot or leg or go blind ... but there is always something, innit?

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yup. You can't even get the insulin that walmart sells here any more, it's an outmoded product which means it's more expensive to provide it

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

than it would be to provide the better insulin but have better health outcomes. I used to use much the same product, 20 years ago. But thats

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

because we don't have healthcare-for-profit so the provider is incentivised not to make you sicker. Whereas healthcare-for-profit is very

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

happy if your feet drop off and you need laser eye surgery and they can sell you the treatment.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My dog was recently diagnosed as diabetic. It took me over 4hrs to find a pharmacy that sold the Humulin N (they only sold R)… 1/2

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Don’t dogs need Dogulin N?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Finally found it for $130.00. Was told that Walmart had it for $25 (no Walmart stocked it). The worry insulin dept. people must have…awful

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I read that as insulin department people and was worried.

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Sorry, character limits. I meant insulin dependant.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You can buy insulin at Walmart? US truly is a strange country...

3 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Ended up being the easiest place to get Covid vaccinations as well (& I live in a large city (1 million +)).

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It’s where I got mine, drove two hours to get the first two. My booster was local, however.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And easiest place to get Covid .

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Most large grocery stores and big box stores have in-store pharmacies. It’s not like, on a shelf with the potato chips.

3 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

Ah ok, makes sense

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

No, it's in the aisle with the cookies and candy

3 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

This is why I've accidentally injected cookies into my ass cheek a few times

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Then I don't understand why there is a difference in quality

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 8

It's not a quality thing, it's a different type of insulin altogether. Not all insulin is meant to work the same.

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Different type of insulin. Walmart and many other pharmacies sell very basic insulin at fairly low prices. The problem is it’s only…

3 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

…useful for some patients. It’s not a lesser quality product, it’s just not the insulin some people need.

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

*yes, they can stay alive for a while, but some people cannot achieve reasonable control, or at least reasonable control with a normal life…

3 years ago | Likes 80 Dislikes 1

Yes but as a type 1 diabetic i can tell you this person must be using a TON of insulin. Like basically carbo loading. Out of pocket is about

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

2 xboxes a month. They are talking double that.... which is kinda crazy.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It’s not unheard of for *some* patients to require six vials a month. Considering some of them are $300+ a vial now, it’s not impossible…

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

…but this person is an edge case. That said, edge cases were exactly my point.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

…with basic insulin, and really DO require the expensive stuff to avoid labile blood sugars.

3 years ago | Likes 56 Dislikes 1

My friend said the most expensive part of diabetes for her isn’t even the insulin. It’s everything else. She’s on a pump so it’s all the

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

other bits. And it’s slowly bankrupting her. She works for the fucking IRS & has gov healthcare. Wtf. I hate this place.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

(And yes, I’m 100% sure somebody will argue this point anyway)

3 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 1

I hope you're wrong

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

For them, the cheap stuff is at best an emergency stopgap. It isn’t a long term solution.

3 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 1

I don't understand how these people can still live here. I would be trying to move to literally any other country asap.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

If you're paying $4-700 in insulin alone already, how will you scrape up enough to move out of the country?

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Type 1 here. This is very true. Novolog is all that works for me, and it costs $386 w/o insurance. The insurance is 488.11 a month.

3 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

You should look into patient assistance programs. They help low income folks get medication for free or low cost.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And that only lowers the costs to $80 a month. Plus the pump supplies it's about $780 a month to stay alive.
