Used to live by a gas station that would stock the cherry nos energy drinks in bulk, when I moved, they stopped stocking them and I can’t find them anywhere now lol.

I’ve never had this kind of impact on society or economic. Wait maybe scotch at the bar but I’m pretty sure I’m the only one who drinks from that bottle and I’ve been watching it slowly empty for the last two years

We had a milk delivery change route while our home was being renovated to deliver where we were staying since our mom was half their sales

I buy a carton of chocolate milk about every two weeks. It only lasts a few days, but I don't want to overdo something that is meant as a treat. Or I'm too lazy to go to the supermarket more often.

My local curry place called deeply concerned a week after I moved to another city. When I told them I was okay, I was subsequently heavily shamed for not telling them and for making the cook worry. We still chat whenever I'm in town.

I'm pretty sure the store I usually go to has been stocking better on cheese since I started shopping there and it's all my fault.

Remake the world in your cheese loving image, my friend!

But not too high because he has diabetes and gets dizzy when he stands up too fast

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Whenever I start buying a lot of a single item my HEB quits carrying it because "they can't keep it in stock" and they don't want empty shelf space.

I knew a girl who drank so much pepsi max that she was a local legend known as the pepsi max girl to all her local takeaways and supermarkets.

To be fair, chocolate milk is fucking delicious.

My brother used to be this way with sweet tea.

How's the price of insulin treating him these days? J/K, I live outside Atlanta, there's always tea in the fridge

We joke that down here in Miami, the most reliable source of regular old sweet tea is our home.

I think he moved onto unsweetened tea now. But we haven’t talked in over a decade, so this is just knowledge passed from other siblings

When I moved away from my parents house the gas station stopped stocking 20 packs of my beer because "people just didn't seem to buy it any more"

Yeah when I was still drinking, if I moved to a new area Skol vodka would be out of stock regularly until they adjusted to me.

I wish my local library were this forthcoming. When I was a kid, it had a subscription to a computer magazine aimed at professionals. I was reading it religiously. They ended the subscription one day. When I asked them why, they told me that I was the only one in town reading it. The spot on the shelf was taken by yet another fashion magazine, which made up half of the magazines they were offering. It was dismal. I had to take the bus to the next town and get my reading from the library there.

2 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

What kind of shit library was this? Every librarian I've ever known would battle a Balrog to keep a single kid reading whatever the hell they liked reading, even if it meant paying for it out of fine cash or their own pocket.

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

The librarians there just weren't that great. Remember the time when Sony put malicious rootkits on their music CDs? I found out thanks to this magazine, told the staff of the library (they had several of these CDs), carefully explained what was happening - and they did nothing, kept these CDs around for many more years. They just didn't care at all. They did however prevent me from checking out books that were 12+ according to their own age rating scheme when I was 11.5 years old.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Wow. That is a super shitty library. Hopefully they didn't push you away from things you liked with their bad attitudes? Cause that's the worst.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

They did not. This was a smaller library that belonged to a larger one next town, so I took the bus there to get the things the small library didn't have. Across both libraries, I was the person checking out the most media a few years in a row.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wow. Meanwhile I was ✅ out sci-fi intended for very mature audiences at age 10...

At my old place, my local Chinese hole-in-the-wall knew me by name just through what was ordered. Never quite worked out if that was nice or sad.

2 years ago | Likes 108 Dislikes 0

I had a local bar I ordered delivery from through a third party service that always put too much peppercorn for my taste (like it was another side). So I had a special request to go easy on 'em, and then started thanking them on subsequent orders. They'd send messages of thanks and hoping I was well on the styrofoam containers. I kinda hate that Covid put them out of business, it was good food and good people. Never once set foot in there for a drink though.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Well it's better than what mine used to be, which was particular alcohols from (3) different local liquor stores! (can't go to the same one twice in a day, that's how you KNOW you're a drunk!

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Same, but we did have a very specific order of only appetizers, ha

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Friday used to be burrito night. It got to the point that by the time we got to the front of the line, our order was bagged and waiting for us. (Didn't hurt that I tipped like $10 on $50 takeaway.) Sadly, when my wife and daughter were diagnosed with celiac, we had to stop going. But they still know us when the boys and I sneak over for our fix of lengua.

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

At my subway they'd start making stuff as soon as I walked in (unless it was super busy). Usually done by the time i got to the order point.

At my home town Japanese restaurant I was known and friendly with the entire staff, from owners to waiters. I moved out of state just before Covid and, while thankfully they stayed open, by the time I revisited I only knew owners and some chefs. Got a chuckle when I walked in and the sushi chef smiled and loudly greeted me while the wait staff were sitting there like, “Who the fuck is this guy”.

2 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

"What? White Yakuza money collectors? Covid really did change the world ..."

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I say it's nice. We have a hibachi place we know as "Two soups" because the owner once saw us and was excited, pointed and said "two soups" because we always got that instead of our salads.

2 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 0

Thats adorable!

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It's nice being able to call the Chinese place, give them my address and they know what I want to order.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

As someone with a Chinese boyfriend for the last four years - it is a bit sad that you only ever order the same thing. You do you, of course, but these circumstances opened up a whole new list of options beyond stir fried rice with veggies and a protein of choice to me.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What would you recommend?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dive into Dim Sum, wide range of stuff tapas style. Also many (non-fried) noodle dishes. - My perception is a bit scewed because he is from Malaysia, so many influences from their, too.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't know if they have a dim sum menu. I will have to ask.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It isn't sad to be a familiar face in your community, and for people around you to know you well enough to identify you like that.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hell yea that's the word

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Its actually kind of nice. It should make you feel welcome. There was a place I used to buy Monster Energy drinks at that knew all my favorite flavors. When Mad Dog and Baller's Blend got discontinued they bought as many as they could to keep them stocked well beyond that point because they were my favorite flavors. Communities doing nice things for each other is the way things were supposed to be.

This sort of reminds me of the Domino's that saved a customer's life because they suddenly didn't get an order from them.

2 years ago | Likes 794 Dislikes 0

Wouldnt surprise me, working fast food or food service in general you start to really learn your regulars. One of the old folks died, about a quarter of the store went to the funeral. One of my old regulars ended up in a nursing home, couple of old coworkers still go up and see him wvery once in a while

When I was single used to order a pizza every Friday night. For like 3 years straight. Then I got a girlfriend and Friday became date night and they legit called on me to make sure I was OK.

2 years ago | Likes 82 Dislikes 0

The bartender was asking other patrons if they knew where I was cause I didn’t come in for a couple weeks. Probably missed the tips lol, but still…

No no no, there is something to that I also recall that story. Dude ordered a pizza literally every Tuesday at 6 pm for like 10-12 years and then he didn’t call and the manager called 911. Those details may not be super accurate but the general story is legit as far as I know.

11 days he hadn’t ordered and was having a stroke when they arrived? Woah, I hope it was a fall first then a recent stroke. Otherwise… damn. I had a client (didn’t perform any heroics myself) that had fallen and was on her floor for 3 days before anyone checked on her. That must be terrifying.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ordered several times a week. That's just sorta scary.

2 years ago | Likes 69 Dislikes 0

Probably what caused the stroke.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Now you know why he was at risk for stroke.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

My store had a similar thing. Lady ordered every day from us, she had 3 go to orders, finally we didn’t hear from her for a week so we sent a driver to go past her house and the last order was still by her door, turns out she had died.

Gosh, that guy survived 11 days lying on the floor? I'm having real. serious trouble to believe that story. Food aside: What did he drink? If he managed to get something drinkable, why couldn't he call for help using his phone? I'm sorry. That story can't be true, not like that.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

Honestly if they’re ordering pizza serval times a week… that stroke is a bit behind schedule.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It doesn't say how long he was lying on the floor, it just says that 11 days was the time that had passed since his last order

2 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

OK, right, not full 11 days. So how many? They noticed after the 2nd expected order didn't come and send someone over after the 3rd order didn't come. That might be 8 or 9 days. Let's say 7 days. Lying on the floor. Again, what did he drink and how did he get it while being unable to call for help?
