Where are these people that control how they feel?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That would be a symptom and not a sign. They're not interchangeable.

when the realization kicks in

I KNOW!

Define control

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What exactly do they mean by control?

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Really bad phrasing tbh. Should say obsessive fixation. This tweet just makes it sound like suppressing negative emotions is "normal".

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Control? You peasants. I am actively firing them up, it's the only spice I've got left.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I disagree, I've been told by the pros that one key thing that is important in battling depression is positivity and control. 1.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Where's the disagreeing part?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Let it control you, it will consume you. 2.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well that would explain a lot...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

With anxiety????

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It's not about control. It's about recognizing that your thoughts are affecting your behaviour/self worth.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

huh

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Rumination being the key word here

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh crap, another thing to worry about.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I don't think I have never not been depressed and I'm kinda glad it's that way. At least I don't know what I'm missing

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I understand. I'm going to a doctor for the first time on monday, and I'm kinda scared. Don't remember what I was like before this.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's nothing to be scared about. Just be open. It's not easy but if you want to feel better they need to know what's up.

A "Psychology fact" account with a snapcode in the profile pic. Yeah no.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

tell me something i don't know

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Oh

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Is this what they mean when you imagine just driving off a bridge.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Most days i can control it. Some days when i know it's ok i let it take over. I feel like if i don't let my depression out once in /1

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

a while it will consume me. 2/2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well, fuck.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Wait, I didn't mean to say that.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

If true, that explains a terrifying amount of my history.

8 years ago | Likes 64 Dislikes 3

It's true

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

meditation and yoga help, personally.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Meditation helped. It didn't solve the depression but it helped me to control my thoughts and anxiety. Also the panic attacks disappeared.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Made everything way more bearable.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Does this count having arguments in your head with yourself? Cause if so .. well fuck

8 years ago | Likes 71 Dislikes 2

Only if the voices tell you to kill them all

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well fuck

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

no, thats just your brain trying to train for possible real arguments. We are made to worry, its basically a survival thing

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

This makes me feel less crazy thank you

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Embrace it - if you can hold a calm and rational debate between two positions in your head, you're more likely to reach a logical decision.

8 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

I do try to embrace most of it but every now and again it takes a darker twist and I wonder if it's still me replying

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It depends. I have arguments for decision making and rationalizing my emotions. May indicate issues, may indicate good thought patterns.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Mostly it's arguments about when to cross the street, what to buy at the shops, what that person who just walked by meant by that look..

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'd probably say if you're legitimately concerned by it, speak to someone. There have been studies done stating that talking to yourself 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Can actually be healthy and help thought processes and decision making. If it was more paranoia, could be a general anxiety?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I do have generalized anxiety as well as health anxiety so just simply going to the doctor isn't a thing I can do easily but I think I will

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You mean other people can *control* their negative thoughts?

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

No

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Some weirdos can also not worry about stuff too

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is a main precept of a solid meditation practice - objectively recognizing thoughts for what they are, both good and bad (1/2)

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

without personal judgement. Eventually you can 'control' how you think and react. It's not easy but can be v rewarding (2/2)

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's more like catching yourself when you are having them and shifting them to better thoughts. Anyone can learn to do it.

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Fuck that sounds like a lotta work though

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It sounds more daunting than it is. After a while, it's automatic. It was definitely worth my time to learn. Feel pretty damn good 23/7.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Cognitive therapy?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wow, didn’t know it was possible to control your negative thoughts. #seriously

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well it is possible to control you thoughts in general. Meditating does help for example. Shuts down the gossipy brain monkey.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well I suppose that’s true, cause I can stop my self getting over excited, just unable to control the sad parts

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

if you want i can send you some videos which helped me to learn how to overcome it.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes please!!
