Mike Rowe's mother is a national treasure! I've been a fan of hers since the Old Blue story.

Why do I imagine the feeling of pooping a tapeworm out as satisfying?

Salmon Sushi?

I saw that on facebook earlier. His parents are hilarious. Mike's such a good dude with all he's done and is doing for people.

That's odd. I never knew I shared a mother with Mike Rowe.

Mike Rowe is a silver fox

Fuck yes he is.

If we never eat food that someone got sick from, we're all going to starve. Maybe invest more than a dollar in your sushi and it'll be fine

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Or maybe cook your fish.

My mom sent me an article about this yesterday lmao

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is good stuff

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

...I am literally eating sushi as I read this. Cali is on the other side of the country tho so fuck it.

8 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Most places use fish that has been frozen before consumption, no risk of parasites then.

I hope Wendy’s never serves sushi then.

Does everyone named Rowe have a Mom like this? Speaking as a Rowe with a Mom like this.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That honestly sounds like a text from my mom. I'm going to Costa Rica at the end of the year and she was like, "At least you don't have 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

worry abput being kidnapped for sex trafficking." I'm a 28 year old woman.... thanks mom. 2/2

Tell your mom there are people with fetishes so you're still not safe.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fake! No one ever has 100% phone battery while the charger is unplugged!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You can tell this is shopped because the battery is full.

That poor guy in California.

Five foot for a tapeworm is pretty small actually, the fuckers can get up to 55 feet long.

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Thank you

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The caveat of course is that you rarely pass the WHOLE 5 FOOT FUCKER from your asshole, mainly pieces of it.

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Tapeworms are terrifying.

8 years ago | Likes 124 Dislikes 2

Pics or it didnt happen

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Tapeworms are the hitchhikers of life.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Anybody else ever see the episode of House where he pulled a giant tapeworm out of the girl abdomen?

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I've tried to forget about that.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do they hurt?

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

They latch onto your intestinal walls. Definitely wouldn’t be very comfy.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

And some people ingest them deliberately to lose weight.

8 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 0

I hear tide pods are a great way to lose weight quickly and efficiently!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

On their own yeah, but compared to all the other horrific parasites out there, they don't seem that bad.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Snopes tweeted about this earlier but I didn't click and assumed they were debunking it but nope, confirmed :s - (link in reply)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Aiight, listen up. Different parasites have different reservoirs, vectors, and transmissions. Diphyllobothrium Latum, the Fish Tapeworm, /1

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Comes from eating contaminated fresh water raw fish, like salmon, which is what this man probably contracted. Others can come from /2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Contaminated soil, bites from flies/ticks/mosquitos, warm water thru the nasal cavity, undercooked beef/pork/crab, etc. There are about /3

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

40 different parasites that the medical field usually deals with in humans. They're not all the same, and all have diff signs/symptoms. /4

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Source: I'm in medical school, currently studying parasites in microbiology. Yayyyy. 5/5.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've never heard of a worm coming from sushi. Especially in America. Ever.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

Sashimi isn't cooked, but it is flash-frozen to kill off parasites. Only a real asshole would skip this step or do it improperly.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Which, again, makes me feel that I've never heard of worms in sushi. Eaten it for 25 years all over the US, never heard/got them

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

All of the clickbait articles on this are just pole-vaulting right to conclusions.
