Ive blocked it and I find the trick is also to mute any users who don't tag their stuff political. You'd be surprised at how few people post the majority of the political posts. Its not perfect but it gets 95% of the posts id say

I have politics blocked and imgur still shows it to me. I've been muting people for years now and my mute list is nearing the thousands, I hit days back when on FP within 20 or so things now and typically still have to mute. The people that post these things typically only post political or distressing things.

It's unfortunate, a lot of people live in a vacuum without realising and when that stability is threatened with things that do not align with the view from their tinted window it's met with hostility and emotion rather than discussion and thought. As such the echo chamber contractors have been very busy, throughout time, yes, but in recent times especially. It's the same no matter the dogma a community attempts to perpetuate none of which know it to be true of themselves, funnily enough.
