Sanctum 1 and 2

Tower defense game done very well. Build a labyrinth for the bad guys, place turrets or upgrade your firearms and take out the monsters yourself. A perfect balance between strategy and action. Both games are roughly the same, I would recommend Sanctum 2 because it has way more maps and the multiplayer community is still somewhat alive unlike in 1. Price: less than 5 bucks during sales.

Paladins

Not much to say, a free-to-play clone of Team Fortress 2/Overwatch. Not at all pay to win though which is a big plus. Still in beta so expect some server issues. The boobs on the ladies jiggle, do with that info what you want. Price: Free.

Ms. Splosion Man

Easy to understand, impossible to master. Play as a sassy pink whatever who busts out cultural references and gags non-stop while defeating scientists and propelling yourself forward with explosions. Entertaining for a few hours, after that it becomes near impossible to finish the levels. Price: less than 3 bucks during sales.

Jolly Rover

A point and click puzzle game with dog pirates. Yup, I said that. The comedy is on point, the puzzles challenging and the story very engaging. Perfect voice acting completes this indie gem. Price: <5 bucks during sales.

Final Exam

2.5D beat 'm up co-op game that has to be played with friends. Slam down on hoards of zombies with a bat or bust out an uzi to rain bullets on them. The repetitiveness of Final Exam is why it should only be played with friends. Price: <5 bucks during sales.

Distance

Racing game with a twist. Jump, flip, fly, defy gravity and dodge obstacles. Still in beta after 2 years+ but with a fairly active Workshop community giving you plenty of new maps and mods to try out. The music consists of underground house music similar to music used in older NFS games, it's great. Price: ~10 bucks during sales.

AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! for the Awesome

Basejump off buildings, avoid crashing, grab the bonus items and flip the bird to haters. Actually a really fun game that only has a few hours of gameplay, but is enjoyable nevertheless. Price: ~5 bucks during sales.

Awesome post! Been looking for a new game to play with friends and Distance, and Sanctum 2 seem like good options!

Distance's music is beyond awesome, and the gameplay is fantastic as well. Don't need to be a fan of racing games to like it.

Jolly Rover looks fun, to bad im broke :(

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That last one, isn't that made by an imgurian? I think I remember something about a kickstarter way back.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Distance is one of the best games I've ever played

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Shovel Knight. $15 dollars, but you basically get two full, equally amazing games.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Distance is the sequel to a free game called Nitronic Rush. If you wanna get a taste of Distance, Nitronic Rush is like Distance Lite

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I felt that Paladins felt close to DOTA in gameplay. OW is a lot faster paced imo

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

+1 for Distance.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Distance is a magnificent game

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Need more of these!

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Agreed

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Distance actually has a f2p spiritual prequel, called Nitronic Rush, which was really good. The only drawback is that is not on steam.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But what about Cluster Truck?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I feel compelled to mention Nitronic rush. It's not on steam, but it's the spiritual predecessor to Distance.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And it's free.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Holy shit, I recognize the Distance one! The people who made this are from my school!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There are several arcade machines hooked up to monitors throughout the school and this game is on all of them, very popular.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

At the very least, its actually the predecessor of this, Nitronic Rush, but still looks VERY similar.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is it just me that found Sanctum 2 hard as dicks?

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

But dicks have a variety of hardness!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I love it to bits, but man is it challenging. Source: Soloed game/DLCs. I'd say each character has their uses for some levels.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

All I have to say is: Git gud, and find a friend to help you. Game is totally worth it though.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Whirlpool is insane, I can't even finish it on easy.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I got all the achievements for AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! A reckless Disregard for Gravity. That 4k jump one was a grind.

9 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 1

Those levels get really hard! But they are a great thrill to play.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, when you figure out the right path and fine-tune it, it becomes about 85% skill and 15% luck.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My heart races every time

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I know that feel.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Calling paladins a clone of tf2 is ok, but overwatch? Paladins was in development wayyy before overwatch was even a thought.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

And has changed directions SEVERAL times during development. There's literally proof they've been intentionally ripping from other games.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The recent updates are pulling straight from Overwatch.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

You talk about Paladins not being pay to win as though Overwatch is. Money only buys cosmetics in Overwatch. Just dropping some facts '3'

9 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 20

No one with a bit of brain will say overwatch a 40/60$ game developed by blizzard is a p2w he just said that its free but not p2w

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

he mentioned it because most f2p games are p2w, he wasn't implying that overwatch is p2w

9 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

I think they may have meant that more as a clarifying statement but we're saying that one about Paladins over Overwatch is that it's free.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Will confirm Distance as being amazing. Bought it on a whim during the Summer sale, it feels so good to play, I can't even explain.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

And Team Fortress 2, besides being free has had almost 11 years of tweaking and development to near perfectly balance all of the characters

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

As someone with an average lifespan of 21 seconds in that game, this game deserved mention.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"perfect balance" well hold up now let's not get carried away here

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Oh, you want balance gameplay? Here take more hats!!! -- Gabe Newell probably

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Payday 2, loads of fun and only $5 during sales (on -75% sales pretty often)

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Does it have an active multiplayer scene? I've thought about buying it if that's the case

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Check steamcharts.com. Average of 8000 people each month and the devs are supporting the game until at least the end of 2017.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Warframe is a great game its free and not pay to win but you can spend money to get more cosmetic shit and things faster. Its amazing.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

And Warface. It's slightly more p2w, but it's one of the best free FPS games on steam.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

*Sprint jump slide jump slide jump sprint slide jump slide jump sprint slide jump* "Mission Complete, great work Tenno."

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

*bullet jump, double jump, roll* repeat.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, Warframe isn't pay 2 win, it's pay 2 not grind.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

That's why I call it Grindframe. :P

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

After you grind everything you want, it's Fashionframe.

Duelyst. It's free.

Duelyst needs more promotion around the internet.

I agree, i want to play hearthstone again, but battle net disagrees with me, a lot of issues, etc. Lo and behold, i found this rare gems.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And if you go to humble bundle and sign up for their newsletter they're giving away 20 packs and some cosmetics for free to new accounts.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

New accounts to the game or the newsletter?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

New accounts to the game.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

New accounts to the game.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Devil daggers is a great cheap game on steam

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I heard it's pretty repetitive, though. I've been burned before.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This so much. I just got it on the humble bundle a few days ago. Crazy stressful but in the best of ways.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Mount & Blade: Warband is very cool too. I recently discovered that I enjoy the Napoleonic Wars DLC a lot. I especially enjoy the Coop.

9 years ago | Likes 266 Dislikes 4

'very cool'? I think you mean fucking lit af

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And Viking Conquest! A lot of people dislike that, but I loved that DLC.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

@KayEhn Once they ironed out the bugs, it was awesome

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I wish more coop games were released! I love em so much!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same here.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Napoleonic wars multiplayer is the best with all the custom gamemodes.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Im on 4khrs now and can't wait for Bannerlord!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wait..how do you co op? Tried playing the game of thrones mod with a friend and we could only verse each other

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Woah what's the mod called? Didn't know that was a thing

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Eh GoT is not my cup of tea. With the Napoleonic Wars DLC/mod you can just join a server with humans vs. bots. It's a LOT of fun! 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

At least for me. I highly dislike PvP gamemodes in all games for some reason. 2/2

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He might mean the commander mode in multiplayer? There was a mod that attempted campaign co-op IIRC. It ran battles on a server, basically

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

, called battle-time.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There are servers that are running huge custom maps like Helms Deep with hundreds of units. Humans vs Bot is awesome.

9 years ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 0

Sauce? Er, links rather?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hmm just launch Mount&Blade:Warband with the Napoleonic Wars module and hit multiplayer and join a "vs. bots" or "bot survival" server. :)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Full Invasion 2 mod is fun. So many different factions and maps.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

The only multiplayer games I've been able to find so far have been on the vanilla game. I should really try the Napoleonic one.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If you liked the Half-Life mod Battlegrounds you will LOVE Napoleonic Wars.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not to mention all the workshop stuff, starwars, war hammer all of it is dope

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Star Wars?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's a re skin of the game, definitely recommend

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

That's so cool, but how do the guns work? Laser arrows? And I'm guessing war hammer is also a re skin?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Commander battles!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I always upvote Mount & Blade. Always.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Mount & Blade.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

*throws an upvote at you while on horseback*

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Slut.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Don't forget.. You can get a game of thrones mod for it

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Name of mod?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A clash of kings!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sick! Thanks bro

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Don't worry about it, it's awesome!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

paladins was in the works and in alpha way before anyone ever heard of overwatch. i played it back then. why do people keep calling it clone

They are both basically TF clones in that regard.

They are both team based base defense maps which is basically teamfortress in a nutshell. They just made diverse units.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

i saw that video and its bs. the Fernando(reinhardt) is based off the Ares character in smite not from overwatch. just to give one example

because a shield is a completely new concept? i am not denying that there are similarities, but calling one a clone of the other is not true
