The manga, and the pokedex in the games, make regular mention of mons killing/eating other mons, and sometimes humans.

It's canon that pokemon eat other pokemon. Several dex entries mention it, and I think the manga does too.

Not anymore anyway. The Pokédex mentions elephants, mice, and worms, and there are normal fish and dogs in early episodes.
